IMAGINE not just including every language in one download and letting the player pick which language to use like a setting that exists in every other single fucking game from the last 25 years.
IMAGINE being so fucking cheap that you have to offer them all separately so that you can still milk some extra sheckles out of your incredibly-small multilingual audience.
"B-but we can't add it into the game's old code as a new in-game setting, it would be too hard—"
SO THEN JUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE VERSIONS TOGETHER AND LET THE PLAYER PICK THEIR LANGUAGE AT A BUNDLE LAUNCHER SCREEN. THEY'RE LIKE 5 MBS EACH.
The fact that they couldn't be bothered to do the bare minimum of creating a language selection boot menu astounds me. Gotta hand it to Game Freak for continuing to find ways to lower the bar.

Remember when the GBA game Zelda Four Swords got a re-release on DSi/3DS? Instead of just dumping a rom file on an emulator, they actually bothered to port it to the new hardware complete with an new single player campaign, qol improvements, and even new stages. The effort put into it alone would've made me gladly pay $5-$10 for it, but they released it for free. Free! That's the kind of effort I expect for a standalone re-release of a GBA title that you're asking $20 for. A native port with qol improvements and some additional content/features. Especially when we live in an era where fans are able to decomp and port older games to modern hardware on their own.

But I can't really blame Game Freak for not trying here, since this will sell gangbusters regardless.

You can call Nintendo greedy/scummy/selfish/whatever other insult you want, but you can’t say they don’t know how to squeeze as much money out of their consumer base for as little effort as possible.
It helps that their fans are top pedigree goycattle that will defend literally anything they do. Nintendo could release a console that shoots your dog and they'd say that it's the best machine of the generation.

I genuinely hate the state of things with the cards, especially since a vast majority of the people buying out these recent sets refuse to even play. Barring the fact this guy got shorted and the slabs will go on to be used as filler for their in-house gambling service, there’s an absolute non-zero chance, more than 70% chance this guys just another retarded scalpoid or scumbag. One of those cards is a fucking double rare mega gengar ex, which you can get for less than $2.

We haven’t even been given any spoilers yet for the 30th anniversary set and people are already getting angry about what cards may be reprinted with the 30th anniversary stamp. I remember the outrage over the stage 2 kanto starters being reprinted with the stamp. That didn’t stop people from buying out the TCG classic boxes to try to submit those reprints to PSA. Same thing with the umbreon gold star, where these same faggots will call the stamped one a “cope reprint” and then lament that the POP print is so expensive because it’s from a set that you had to actually play in order to pull from during a time where stores weren’t willing to sell that kind of prize support.

Right, I don't want to sound like I'm dickriding Nintendo here but I just want to say the following.

The reason Mega Man and whatnot get collections and Pokemon games don't isn't because Capcom are the good guys and Nintendo are the bad guys, it's because not a single fucking person would buy an emulated MegaMan 2 for $19.99. If they could get away with it, they would but Mega Man doesn't have the popularity of Pokemon in the slightest.

If Pokemon was a niche little franchise then sure, we'd get Pokemon collections all the time because it wouldn't be considered profitable to release games seperately. Pokemon is a legit top 5 video game franchise, they're not getting stuck in value packs when the average Nintendo fan will buy BOTH games that come out despite there being like 2 different pokemon between them.
It's another reason why that Yu-Gi-Oh game boy collection wasn't all in one bundle instead of paying for individual games.

I think the only other franchise that can kind of get away with this is final fantasy since they got all the original snes games on steam. I think about that is they only are selling them for half the cost of the Pokemon games.

Dudes got sunken junkie eyes, either selling because the wife left or he needs a fix.
Almost all of those are Phantasmal flame as well which is a small set so such a easy pull rate compared to other sets, none of these cards are going up in value lol.

So if I’m late with this, I’m sorry.

There was a recent Marilee keychain announced, and people noticed something…let’s say, interesting, about the design.

Do you see it? And if you did, what does that say about you?

I swear to God this criticism is so weird. Like I get the criticisms for the price or a low quality port etc. but who the absolute fuck gives a shit about multiple languages?

Hell, the key reason why EU ports of games had a huge language selection to begin with was because video game companies could mass produce disks/cartridges and just change the cover and they've saved a fortune. If digital distribution was around 30 years ago then every country would have its own version of the game with one language.

Sorry for all the negative posts I got really drunk at a friend's going away party last night and I am still hung over.

I stayed playing Heart Gold Generations and its really impressive so far.

Oh boy I can't wait for them to somehow fuck up a collection of ROMS emulated on Switch 2.

Remember how good the Battle Network collection was?
- Every game version included
- Online Battling and Chip Trading for every game
- Amazing UI
- Ability to compare Chip Library (basically the Pokedex) with a Friend
- One Shot Kill Buster Mode and Turn Off Encounters Mode to cut on the grinding

Meanwhile for the Pokèmon collection you will probably get:
- Only the first two versions, doubt they will include the superior third versions (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum)
- They will probably go lazy and just add Online to just one of the games instead of every one
- The UI will be the bare minimum
- NO online trading except maybe for one of the games so you can't finish the Pokèdex
- No special features
- Somehow these versions will be much buggier than the originals ever were

If Game Freak was talented, they would instead make a custom third version for every game, using Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum, add the ability to trade and online battle in all of them, and ALSO add all the missing pokèmon somewhere so you can complete the Pokedex without having to trade.

I'm impressed, they made it even worse than i predicted.

If you pay 20$ for a fucking ROM you are a fucking clown. And deserve Gen 10 to be another shit tier game.

Most of the comments I see on YouTube are thanking Nintendo for only making it $20 per version and smugposting about subscription services and ownership (of a digital game). Modern Pokemon fans are completely buckbroken.

The speculation is it's a way to dodge re-rating the game with the ESRB, CERO, PEGI, etc. If a game is unmodified and is just a re-release then it does not need to be re-rated. But if the games are modified in any way then they must be re-rated. If FR/LG were to be re-rated they'd probably have to be 18+ (for the European rating board at least) because of the game-corner.

The gen 1 re-releases on 3DS were modified and were re-rated, the European rating board PEGI rated them 12+ because of this. But PEGI has changed it's policy on gambling since 2016 and are now a lot harsher, Balatro was rated 18+ and that's a game that has zero actual gambling, it's just gambling themed.

But they also put this at the end of the trailer too, so idk. They probably should've just created a launcher that has all of the languages. But who's going to buy a game in more than one language anyway? Just pick your native or English, it's a non-issue tbh.

I'm genuinely surprised they're going to release at least the gen 3 games. In my mind I was like "re-releasing old games is too good of an idea for game freak to implement"
The classic Pokémon games are some of the most valued video-game titles, ever. Withdrawing the supply of a product, so demand can build up is a recognised business practice. It's actually a really good idea if you love money, it's intentional.

The gen 1 re-releases were created in 2016, when there was massive attention on the brand again because of Go. So those re-releases were done to capitalise on that potential, but they also accurately knew when the 3DS was going End-Of-Life and the new console was not going to be backwards compatible with the 3DS' titles. So that re-release was only ever going to be available for a few years. Those releases were only available for about seven years.

I'm actually really surprised they've decided to sell FR/LG on Switch/Switch 2 without a timed window like Nintendo did with Mario 3D All-Stars. This eShop is probably going to be online for another 10+ years with the Switch 2.

The criticism is valid because a simple boot menu option from within the emulator that loads the selected rom is an extremely basic feature. But they couldn't even be bothered to do that and just threw all the roms onto the shop individually. There's absolutely zero effort put into this.
