nah :smug:

I went with that team I registered around 25 years ago for Little Cup, which was what was holding me back from finishing the game (that Elekid is hard). For Rival R2, I went with that other team I also registered ~25 years ago with legendaries and some other non-legendaries like Steelix. Still hard, but not as hard as the last Little Cup battle.

It's not just Nintendo, its The Pokémon Company International that is responsible for all this shit which is basically why Japan can be cool and not full of niggers and everything else gets this crap.

Sadly it's all leaking into the Japanese branch as can be seen with how brown ZA is.
My theoretical timeline takes place at 1996/7, which is way before the Pokemon Company even existed, at least in its current form: It was formed in 1998 to handle the Pokemon Center stores before expanding in 2000 (no doubt due to NoA of course, with its unforseen, often short-sided consequences if their reaction to Jynx was anything)

Oh boy I can't wait for them to somehow fuck up a collection of ROMS emulated on Switch 2.

Remember how good the Battle Network collection was?
- Every game version included
- Online Battling and Chip Trading for every game
- Amazing UI
- Ability to compare Chip Library (basically the Pokedex) with a Friend
- One Shot Kill Buster Mode and Turn Off Encounters Mode to cut on the grinding

Meanwhile for the Pokèmon collection you will probably get:
- Only the first two versions, doubt they will include the superior third versions (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum)
- They will probably go lazy and just add Online to just one of the games instead of every one
- The UI will be the bare minimum
- NO online trading except maybe for one of the games so you can't finish the Pokèdex
- No special features
- Somehow these versions will be much buggier than the originals ever were

If Game Freak was talented, they would instead make a custom third version for every game, using Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum, add the ability to trade and online battle in all of them, and ALSO add all the missing pokèmon somewhere so you can complete the Pokedex without having to trade.

Oh man that takes me back
You people need to look that shit up because that clustefuck was unbelievable. I am still processing what kind of fucked up state to be in to produce such garbage.
That was an absolute dumpster fire.

Don't forget no Pokemon Bank connectivity.

They're going to have a Super Bowl commercial, aren't they?
Called it, not that it was that hard a prediction.

Pokémon needs something. Something big. Something to celebrate past success, and rebound from past failures. This is the perfect time for it. Get back on track. Set the new mood for the franchise. Here, on the biggest advertising stage in the world. No other announcement that they could ever make at any other time has the potential to be as big as this one.
And they gave us...
That was such a crappy ad. I feel like a dedicated animation featuring Pikachu and/or Eevee just being Pokemon would have been more effective., but I don't understand how Joe Normy thinks.

I hate celebrity culture so much.

I am calling it too, it will 100% be like this because fuck bringing pokemon over, we only ever do that nowadays so compfags will be forced to buy the last gen games with all of the DLC.

I will say that dexit made bank/home much less exciting: why bother transfering my pokemon from past gens when I can use it in none of the Home compatible games that I own?
They should have just let you use pokemon that aren't on the pokedex in single player at least so you could mess around with them. Gone are the days of transfering your starter all the way from emerald to ORAS and getting a small aknowledgement for it.

Not just a Super Bowl commercial, a full minute long Super Bowl Commercial. For just a minute of advertising space, that’s ~$20M, and that’s before actually making the damn ad.

For reference, Z-A had a budget of ~$13M. They could’ve funded the game several times over on their advertising budget alone.

Not only that, but you also need a chart/cheat-sheet regarding what moves your pokemon are allowed to have or not since a lot of moves got nixed as well. So you're basically limited to specific sets on pokemon that used to have multiple offensive/defensive options.

no, come on, you're not getting it.png

"Oh, wait... this product is endorsed by Trevor Noah? Well, now I'm more interested in it."
"You are?"
"Yeah. I just told you. I'm more interested now."
"... why are you saying it like that?"
"Like what? Look, look... now that I know that Trevor Noah... is endorsing this product... I'm more interested in it. Obviously. What don't you understand? He's a sensation. He's compelling. I find Trevor Noah terribly, terribly compelling.
[tosses away card] The man's a heartthrob."

What kind of animal / mythological creature / thing do you really want to see a Pokémon based on?

For me, it's the Virginia opossum.

Dark / Fairy. Toothy, gormless smile. Bulging black eyes. Unique ability based around playing dead. Gimmie.
I'd like to see a Pokémon based on a blue dragon sea slug.

Maybe go for a Magikarp & Gyarados thing where it's a two stage evo w/ a weak first stage & a powerful second stage. Water type first stage, Water/Dragon second stage.

Since the slugs can eat Portuguese Man'O War and coat themselves with their stinging cells for protection, give the 'mon an ability where it's not only immune to all poison attacks, but being hit by them coats it in poison for a few turns that has a chance to poison an opponent if they use a physical attack.

Wendigo with Ghost/Ice typing.

Werewolf with Dark/Fighting.

Garden Eel to Moray line that's Water/Ground.

A Grass or Grass/Water line based off sundews/Drosera (little carnivorous plants).

So assuming GF/Nintendo actually goes along with this, how exactly would it work?

The last time any of the classic games were re-released were on the 3DS and not only were they separate downloads, but there was no feature for multi-game trades with one another, so you couldn't even complete the pokedex on ANY of the games, of which it was only Gen 1 and 2, so it's fairly easier to do than the other games. Bank didn't even help them because it was more favored towards the Gen 6 and 7 games, so once you did the transfer, goodbye GameBoy pokemon. NVM I double checked, I'm dumb

Only downside is that it was wireless only, not wifi.

I can see GF/Nintendo totally fucking this up. Firstly, it'll be a miracle if the Switch 1 even gets any kind of support for this considering they've been treating it like a piece of shit since the Switch 2 showed up (see the Mario Wonder "update" that is Switch 2 only). Second, they would be full blown retarded if they did the whole "version split" retardation instead of sticking them all under one collection but i can totally see them doing it.

EDIT: Holy shit, I didn't even think about battles. There was no online feature for those in the 3DS GB ports, if they drop the ball with that as well, they are going to loose a FUCK-TON of support and good-will. So many people want to battle each other online with the classic games.
Quite a few false equivalences in here. Game Boy NSO is already on Switch 1, and it already has both local and online multiplayer. I mean, I guess they could do something overwhelmingly Jewish like make the Game Boy games separate downloads so they can throw on another price tag like how they made them ten dollars each on 3DS, but even then there’s no way they would just not put that on a console with a 150 million user install base that’s still riding the high(?) of Legends Z-A.

A stoat with an ability or signature move centered around fighting larger pokemon than itself. There are moves that use weight to decide damage so why not size now that it has been a thing for a few games?
Finally, a hard counter to the Treevenant/Gourgheist meta.

I don't know what kind of TCG product TPC would have to release to be worse than the infamous Magic 30, given that it was later revealed that unsold Magic 30 packs were disposed in landfills.
If you think TPC would churn out something remotely similar to what WotC did, then I’m not sure what you’re expecting. The worst that’s been put on the table is the concept of another celebrations set where there’s people worrying about them reprinting gold stars and shining Pokemon as well as iconic cards from the history of the game. The only people that were mad about celebrations were the retards who bitched about how they thought the stamped Kanto starter stage 2 evolutions were going to plummet.
Oh man that takes me back

No other company would do what WotC casually does to the playerbase for their games.

A recent trending topic regarding the games on Twitter is whether or not EXP Share trivializes the experience, or if it helps cut down grinding. Surprisingly, I see a lot of players say they prefer not using it.

What do you guys think?
Yes it trivializes the experience, but the experience of playing through the core game is already so mind-bendingly easy, and being made easier with every passing generation, that it doesn’t matter. You can catch a wild Pokemon in S/V and have it be IV+EV perfect with a good nature and bespoke move set inside half an hour if you’ve been raiding diligently. You could probably finish S/V without ever fighting a wild pokemon. It is essentially a treadmill for raising competitive teams, and the challenge of the base game suffers for it. So, EXP Share does make the core game even easier, purposefully, and unfortunately for challenge-likers.

The only time I use EXP Share is when the mechanics have Gen5's leveling up system where you gain less EXP the higher your level if you're battling a lower level pokemon. Probably the worst thing to come from those games. The Clover hack has that EXP system and if it wasn't for EXP Share, I'd still be stuck at the first Gym while grinding in the Vitly Woods against Birdhouses that stop giving big EXPs around lv10+.

For example, I can boot up Gen1, use a Rattata as a starter, grind in Viridian Forest, and it'll only take me like an hour to get it to evolve into a Raticate because Metapods/Kakunas will still give you 40/50/60 EXP no matter what your level is. In BW/B2W2, if I were to grind for Audinos, which give out massive EXP, by the time I'm like 15 levels up, those Audinos will start to give me single digit EXP gains, which makes grinding even more of a slog. EXP Share saves all that additional time that would be wasted.
