... The lvl 100 Gardevoir is a shiny. Someone just gave up a shiny pokemon that strong and I lucked out and got it.

The Rehash was the 3rd version crap.

BW2 actually advanced a story line that clearly wasn't finished.

Platinum clearly had nothing to save Diamond and Pearl's horrid story so I can't comment on that, having not played it, but as for Emerald, it was nothing but another retelling of its Generation, and had plenty of new features to offer.

Thats what you should expect from the Follow-up game(s) they do every generation - new features.

Nintendo always finds ways for me to sacrifice my money to them...

super stoked to find out what Pokemon on the Switch is going to be, though. Now I'll have to figure out where to find one.

I'm hoping that the Switch game will be something akin to the Orre games (Colosseum/XD: GoD), otherwise I'll wait to see more on this shit.

And here's to hoping that US/UM is indeed a sequel to S/M, because as others have previously mentioned, there are certain plot threads that could continue on into a sequel.

Ehhh I haven't played since Black and White. I loved it, and I love X too, but I didn't get too far with X. It put me to sleep, it just felt grindy, and way too easy. I don't want something that makes me want to blow my brains out like Whitney's Miltank but I also don't want a cakewalk. I think I just need a break from it for a while, I still plan on picking up whatever Pokemon RPG they're dropping for the Switch though, it sounds interesting.

I can't believe I trained a Phantump to level 55 to end up finding it evolves through trade. Fucking thing.

Well, I got my Nihilego, and two Pheromosas. One is substntially a lot stronger than the other, because natures, i guess.

I am currently breeding my Salazzle with my Goodra to make a female Salandit. On Egg two, I think.

And soon, my Shiny Fearow will be on the GTS. If you got a spare Shiny Alola Vulpix, don't be shy.

I got my Squirtle through GTS, as well as a Bulbasaur (and a couple starters from gens I never played). 40 hrs in right now and I'm starting to feel it more now than when I started. I'm really having fun with this, but my usual RPG thing is kicking in when I go after distractions that turn me away from the main quest.

I also freaking love Mimikyu. That thing is a mainstay on my team.

So, I finally got around to finishing the main story and became champion in just under 60 hrs. You know, I'm not really feeling it. Sure, the Elite 4 were difficult (I assumed I couldn't leave to heal at the Pokemon Center. Didn't bother to check it out) and that final battle was intense but there was something missing.

I've only ever played gens 1 and 2 before, but the ending of those feels better. Gen's 1 is perfect. You spend the entire game lagging behind your rival (he picks the Pokemon weaker than yours and completes Gyms first), he's rude and that final battle for the throne just feels more like an accomplishment. It feels different from other encounters with him, it feels like the whole game was building up to that moment. It's simple and it works beautifully. And let's not forget how awesome it was fighting Red on Mount Silver in Gen 2. That was mindblowing, beating the previous player character to prove you're the best.

In Sun/Moon, we get Hau and I almost want to throw a match for him. I feel like I'm the bully. Gladion is hilarious in his edginess, but nether captures that feeling of what a rival should be. Granted, the Gen 2 Rival didn't either. I don't feel like I'm competing against either of them, they feel more random than anything.

Team Skull and the Aether Foundation just lacked something as well. Team Skull came close to capturing that feeling of battling Team Rocket and fighting Giovanni at the end, but I guess when their boss becomes someone's lacky it makes him seem like a small fry. I would have appreciated Aether more if there had been more hints to their darker nature beforehand, rather that it all being dropped at once. It's weird, but if they had just been one organization it would have worked better, but as two it feels like it's spread too thin.

And don't get me started on putting me into a battle with a legendary without being able to save after becoming champion.

It did recapture some of that magic of the old games, but in execution parts of it just felt off to me. I'm going to do some post-game stuff for awhile, but I may just pick up a Gen 1 game off the eshop to get the experience I remember from my youth.

You sure missed the point.

The way rivals are portrayed in the games took a pretty big shift in Gen 3, and they unfortunately haven't changed much since then. They're far less antagonistic now - not so much a driving force pushing you forward to improve your skills, more like "friends" that you occasionally battle and kick the crap out of to establish just how awesome your character is. Gladion's actually the closest we've come to having a rival like that since Gen 2, and like you said, he still misses the mark a bit. I agree with you - I kind of miss having a rival like Blue.

(If you felt bad about beating the tar out of Hau, just be glad you missed ORAS and battling Wally. Actually I really liked ORAS but that's beside the point)

Honestly, Team Skull was pretty refreshing to me because they weren't portrayed particularly seriously overall, in comparison to some of the previous teams in the series. Having a team that was made up of outcasts and other sorts of down-on-their-luck losers causing trouble felt more interesting and enjoyable than teams like Flare and Galactic, who appear to be genocidal bad guys just because (I'm talking about the rank-and-file, the leaders and admins have a bit more going on for them I guess).

As for "hints" about Aether Foundation being evil... well, there was the scene at the very beginning with a bunch of Aether grunts chasing after Lillie, but more importantly, the Foundation as a whole wasn't evil. Only Lusamine and some of her head scientists were (and they weren't exactly subtle about Lusamine turning out to be crazy). The vast majority of the organization actually did believe in the Pokemon conservation effort and had no idea what was going on behind the scenes; at worst, they just followed orders to "catch those intruders". A lot of them can be spoken to in the postgame, and they're pretty much universally horrified by the stuff that had happened.

I'm gonna get me Pokemon Sun in a few weeks when I go to the United States.

Why? Because I have to relive the story. I am so glad the 7th Pokemon Generation drew me back in a remarkable way. I might pass the 8th Generation depending on the contents, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

The story of this Generation was absolutely terrific. In Pokemon games, I often found myself buzzing through all the text because of how simple shit got, and especially how 4th Generation's garbage story bored me to tears. Generation 5 was a greater story, sure, but I was still buzzing through the text because of how everything seemed like Generation 4. But here, in Generation 7, I actually read through and understood shit.

And, I was pleased to find that they've finally kind-of adapted the dynamic of you traveling with others like Ash did in the anime. I enjoyed having Lillie and Hau on this adventure.

The whole point is, I wanna relive it, and I don't want to destroy my Pokemon Moon file for that. My Ninetails is like Level 80 and so is my Goodra and Decidueye.

And in other news in this dumb wall of text, I've been getting more lucky with the Wonder Trade feature. Got a few starters here and there. I really want some Kanto starters though, got at least one Starter from each Generation except for One (and Five, but I don't care for them)

Best thing you can really do is dump all your mons in Pokémon Bank and start over tbh

All I have to do nowadays is just collect Pokemon, and evolve them.

Got my Charmander and Bulbasaur, and Treecko, and various other starters evolved. Recently finished a Dragonite, a Metagross, collecting knick-knacks like Ditto, Blissey, a Red Vulpix, a Golem, a Scizor, a Porygon 2.

Also recently bred my first female Salandit, just more trade bait though, unless Masuda Method breeds out a Shiny for me, since Goodra is my Chief mate for my Sallazle, and Goodra is from China.
