Pokemon Vega:
Altair/Sirius already Used lots of the anime movies plota points in the game and it isn't different with Vega. This time we go back to the first movie with Mewtwo being the final gym leader.
One cool thing about this fight is that he actually uses the clone pokemon from the movie
After beating the gym and beating the bad guys, I finally go to the victory road puzzle and it isn't as cancer as I thought, but having to use 2 slots just to use HM slaves is troublesome so I decided to just fight everyone else that I could in the first run until I died and couldn't fight anymore and find the exit in the next expedition.
I was left with two Pokemon when the rival fight started, my Aurostice is fucking amazing and I made the right call to use her again even after using her in Altair. Even more in this version that uses fairy types too. She saved my ass.
However when I beat the rival, I thought that the victory road was over... It wasn't there were still trainers to fight and I was with only one pokemon there. So I used escape rope and healed my team and got back.
When I finally got into the league, I wanted to buy some items and... There wasn't. I wanted some full restores and revives but there werent any. I knew there were in the game but I used mine before not knowing this. This changed everything. I had to go blind into the E4 knowing that I cant afford losing my pokemon at all. So I decided to save before entering each room and using the first time as scout their team and types. There were electric/poison/steel/fire.
For three of them I had direct counters but I was absolutely fucked with electric, my only ground TM was for my water starter Correncid that was 2x weak to it, so I hae the most trouble with him, using healing items before I could be killed.
And there was also a problem: I only had 5 pokemon that I trained due to HM slave bullshit, so I brought in an Articuno that I caught just to fill in (my Aurostice completely mogged him in moves and level)
After beating one by one I finally got at the champion... Who ended up being the final gym leader in the last game, the Alto Mare gym leader Sylvia.
I had lost Articuno to a crit, so I was already down to five and her team was stacked.
She was way higher in levels than me (this version of the game lowers the level curve to diminish the grinding) and after beating her Aerodactyl she would switch from her Metagross to her Serplant as I tried to chip away Metagross life with surf to lower its life, then out of nowhere she changed it to Folifarig who absolutely oneshoted me with Psyburn.
We traded some pokemons until I choose my strongest: Aurostice. The beast who got so lucky that her enemy was a nostratos who is flying dragon against a ice goddesss and her final Necrosia who got fucking Moonblasted to oblivion.
And that was it, I finally beat the first E4 in Vega Fairy Edition EX
This team of shitters arent balanced at all but I loved using them, I just wish there werent HMs so I could use more
Then after beating the game, I get called by my father and he says that there are more pokemon in caves that appeared after so I decided to find some new pokemon, I found two new species of ant Pokemon, a fighting/bug type and a psychic/bug type and deep in the caves I found a gym leader that I beat before. Maybe they will let you fight rematchs here and I tried....
He had a lvl 80 pokemon out of the blue. I was absolutely BTFO. I knew that Altair/Vega were grindy games (and this is a modified version to not be as grindy) but to jump to 20 levels is just crazy.
I don't know if I can say this yet without playing the post game, but this game is really good, I love the fakemon designs in this game, the story is a little better than the usual pokemon slop and it actually uses other elements from other media like Pokemon rangers, the films, the capture stylus from the DS games and so on. The puzzles in this game are HARD, I had to cheat one of them due to this difficulty that involved not being able to see and timing alongside slide puzzles and moving rocks that any mistake was punishing as fuck.
The game feels like a gen 3.5 with elements from the DS games like it would be released alongside the gen 4 games but at the same time for the GBA.
You can't play this game without Altair Minus tho, it is a direct sequel. And the only thing that bums me out now... Is that the sequel Procyon isn't finished yet, they sometimes releases new pokemon here and there but the final game will have to wait.
Go play this duology if you don't like Fakemon, this will change your mind in these cool pokemon.
