what game should I start with?
That depends on what you want from the game.

Let's Go Pikachu / Let's Go Eevee
  • Kanto nostalgia (yet again)
  • pretty game
  • free from the technical issues or design fuck-ups that most other Pokémon Switch games have
  • different & more-relaxed gameplay
  • wild encounters work like catching in Pokémon GO
  • not much to the game overall
  • Pokédex seems the hardest to complete (unless you just buy both copies, and have access to 2 Switches for trade evolutions)

Sword / Shield
  • good presentation
  • varied and charming environments, but very short routes
  • (mostly) good characters
  • of the Switch games, this one still feels the most like classic Pokémon formula (aside from the remakes)
  • first game to not have a full Pokédex
  • story just kind of gives up at the end
  • not a lot to do in the postgame
  • included great quality-of-life changes and additions for making competitive Pokémon if you're into that
  • can use RNG manipulation to get perfect IV / shiny raid Pokémon

Legends: Arceus
  • new experience
  • unique gameplay focused on exploring and sneaking around
  • probably the most-well-regarded game by fans
  • actually-competent graphics
  • very limited Pokédex, but it's a fully-self-contained game, so you can complete that Pokédex without having to trade / transfer / buy multiple games
  • 100%ing the game can be grindy

Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl
  • very faithful remake of the Gen 4 games
  • includes all of the originals' oversights and glitches (and even some new ones!)
  • includes none of Platinum's changes or fixes
  • keeps the original Gen 4 Pokédex despite nominally being a Gen 8 game (that's how autistic of a remake it is)
  • but it still feels like Gen 4 if you just want that again

Scarlet / Violet
  • open world with basically no direction, tons of freedom
  • samey environments with bad graphics
  • so it's a game that's geared toward exploration with not much to find in it
  • gutted player character customization
  • flat characters
  • insipid story that feels like being trapped in a kindergarten class forever
  • piss-easy shiny hunting (good if you want accessibility, bad if you feel that it cheapens shinies)
  • still a limited Pokédex (but it's mostly complete after the DLCs' updates)
  • kept most of Sword & Shield's competitive quality-of-life changes, added a few more, made a few others worse just because
  • it's the current game used for competitive play if you're into that

Legends: Z-A
  • big focus on mega evolution
  • "action-oriented" gameplay that's really just about waiting for attack cooldowns
  • was supposed to be about running around and dodging in real time, but it's really just about mashing "attack" like every other Pokémon game
  • and the battle system breaks with easily exploitable things like terrain
  • same city environment for the whole game
  • retardedly-unoptimized city forces absurd graphics compromises that an Xbox 360 launch title would be embarrassed about
  • dumb story, but people seem to at least like some of the characters
  • very limited Pokédex, but again, you can complete that Pokédex without having to trade / transfer / buy multiple games (I'm pretty sure)
  • Pokédex is supposed to get expanded with upcoming DLCs
  • some mega stones are hidden behind upcoming DLCs or having Nintendo Online

  • Pokédex seems the hardest to complete (unless you just buy both copies, and have access to 2 Switches for trade evolutions)
LGPE's Pokédex can be completed without having the other version and having a second Switch thanks to it's GO-to-LGPE transfers counting as being caught in LGPE, that's how I completed the Pokédex in my copy of LGE.

Holy shit I didn’t know about that. How did they manage to pull off Nintendo DS glitches on a game that could only have code developed for the Switch? I looked it up BDSP was made in Unity and you can just copy entire swathes of code from C to C# no problem this is so fucking retarded I’m glad I never gave any of the switch games the time of day.

God if I have to see one more gushing comment about Jacinthe on social media... it's all "Dang all the people in chat hating on Jacinthe. Y'all are just salty she has a feisty dragon maid!" and "This it is sort of how in folklore the fey will make deals, trickster style. The fey also hate it when you avoid them or back out of their deals and will do whatever to get you back into it. So accurate representation, also funny enough the dragon maid is weak to Jacinthe's team, how clever! BlahBlahBlah she didn't even know rogue mega evolution was a thing so obviously she wouldn't know it was more important to deal with than her tournament, BlahBlahBlah people don't understand she represents fae lore extremely accurately" (Copy+Paste quotes btw, only the "BlahBlahBlah" is mine. If I have to read that shit, so do you.)

The amount of times I've seen the whole "she represents the true spirit of 'the fae'" thing alone makes me wonder if it's a secret copypasta I'm not aware of. Just eager slurping of slop. Screw it, I'm having another beer, there's only so much of that I can read and take in.

I consider this a good thing, since modding the games will make BDSP far mor enjoyable.
By the by, I am already aware of Luminescent Platinum.

Just popping in to say that all the new mega forms are the perfect juxtaposition to how lazy, low effort, and utterly niggardly Nintendo/Game Freak has become with this franchise. Literally all "copy and paste elements over and over" or the bare minimum to make it a "new form". I know I'm late, but I just saw the DLC megas, and holy shit is it fucking pathetic.

Fucking Feraligatr says it all. The only fucking difference is that stupid fucking hood thing that serves no purpose. Everything about the model besides that is EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME.

Every time I think this dog shit company can't possibly mismanage THE MOST LUCRATIVE PROPERTY OF ALL FUCKING TIME further, they take the incompetence to new heights. Furukawa needs to livestream himself committing seppuku, you dishonor your famiry.

What's the consequences of missing seasons? Can you not get the same items in other seasons?
The consequence for missing seasons (i.e. I'm assuming what you mean is, for example, not getting enough rank to get the greninja mega stone in season 1 which is over now) is you won't have access to that season's featured mega stone until they rerun it.

It's still possible to get access to a mega stone you miss faster with a custom firmware switch I guess, but you need to do everything that Nintendo doesn't want you to do perfectly if you still expect to go online without getting console banned.

You can't trade mega stones, so if you don't have a hacked switch you are waiting until a rerun of that mega stone which GF said they will, but it may take a while before they rerun it. Additionally, there are apriball end of season rewards you miss, but you can trade for those, even on a non-modded switch/switch2.

I can assess that people are going online with hacked switches/edited saves because they specifically banned mega chesnaught this season (season 2). The only reason I can think they would bother to do that is because it's already in the new game version and they know pkhex is updated now and they don't want players going online with mega chesnaught early.

This guy is a badass DRAGON MASTER. He's got a hardcore as fuck title, and the attitude to back it up, too. He isn't afraid of hyperbeaming a motherfucker to get shit done. He's got an expression that just lets you know he's gonna kick your ass. This is what a member of the elite four should look like, formidable, serious. He is worthy of wielding the most powerful type, not just anyone can tame a dragon. He won't think twice about stonewalling you with 3 dragonites, get good or get lost, homo.

This guy, on the other hand, looks like a little pussified FAGGOT. He puts up a pathetic fight you pretty much can't lose unless you try to. He looks like he sucks dick behind the hall of fame daily. He looks like a gay 5 year old playing dressup. He is a pushover, he is not a serious obstacle to overcome.

Mega Feraligatr is just really crazy because the concept of him wearing a headlike bigger helmet is pretty cool in my book if it was executed correctly.
Unfortunately they completely fucked it up. In his normal idle he just looks like a normal Feraligatr with a toilet seat installed on his neck. What were they thinking!

Those motherfuckers at GameFreak did my boy dirty.

I remember when it was discovered that TPC was hiding ditto behind reverse holos of Pokemon that ditto liked to disguise itself as in the game and the normoid tourists were angry because they were afraid that the charizard they’d pull might actually just be a ditto with a sticker. They never bothered to read that there were only 3 cards and those cards had a stamp. I miss that gimmick, but you couldn’t do it now, especially with the state of things now.
