Finished all Kanto Gym leaders and went back to the second E4 fights.

Somehow it was easier than before, instead of Lance Using two dragonites he went with a Salamance who got oneshoted by Meganium of all all these fellas.

After the second pass there is only red left, but I always hated this part of the game tbh

Went there and beat the fucker.

So if you want to play a vanilla+ with improved level curves of the Crystal and modern QoL, you can go with this romhack Heart & Soul.

I still didn't finish Orange Islands yet, but this was quite ok game to clarify that I don't give a shit about Johto region at all.
Where can i DL this?

When FR/LG hacks add new items they usually use the IDs of items from the Hoenn games since they're not usable in the Kanto games. If you use a save editor you should be able to add something like an Acro Bike to your key items and it'll appear as the GB SOUNDS.

If you DM me your .sav I can add it in for you probably.
That'd be awesome, thanks!

It has been years since I saw this movie, but given that Ash comes across as a loser in the vast majority of his appearances, he should've been extremely grateful that Mewtwo even considered him (assuming that this was not some sort of mix-up) and extremely humble in the fact that he should've accepted in the start that there was no way he was going to win.

Well all I can say is, the people who wanted Megas for the Kalos starters got their wish, but in a twisted Monkey Paw sort of way.

Also the Raichu Megas suck ass. GF just gave up trying to give him his own identity and made him a Pikaclone.

Hawlucha's Mega is great tho.

It's crazy how little hype there is for the new game. Personally I wouldn't really even want it but I have an expiring gift card I need to use.
I can pinpoint the reason why that is: them shutting the fuck up for far too long which made people worry.

This game will go One of Two ways:
  • Becomes the best game in the series with fun unannounced shit to explore, a desired outcome.
  • Completing the Kalos legacy of being an incomplete pile of shit which is sadly highly likely. This will make people bitch for a while “What the fuck was that waiting for?” …. Then a decade later we will see soytubers be like : “ZA the Misunderstood Legendary NOT A CLICKBAIT”

  • Becomes the best game in the series with fun unannounced shit to explore, a desired outcome.
It is completely insane to me that people still consider this a possibility.
Metroid fans threw in the towel after Federation Force broke the 6 year silence Other M inflicted upon them, then rightfully pushed back against Nintendo striking AM2R down when they tried to retreat into fandom.
Sonic fans knew they weren't getting shit after Unleashed. That was 10 years after Adventure split the fandom. After that point, they started retreating into fanmade mods/games and treating every new release with suspicion.
Depending on whether you want to count XY or BW as the start of the end, it has been either 12 or 15 years since the oldest subpar game in the series, yet there is still a not-insubstantial portion of Pokémon fans who truly think the series will reach new heights "any day now" based off of nothing but pure hopium.

Gamefreak have squandered the potential of the Switch time and time again so badly that it has tarnished the entire console's reputation, and mismanaged the rest of the franchise to such an extent that their brand name is now synonymous with cheap, rushed, crap. Impressively, they have even worsened with time, in almost every conceivable aspect. To think that any new game of theirs might even meet the subpar standards of other AAA Nintendo games on the market right now is a level of lunacy I cannot imagine, and I sincerely do not understand what could make anyone think Z-A will be anything but horribly subpar. They announced $40 DLC before the full game even came out, how the fuck does this signal quality to anyone?

If anyone reading this thread genuinely, unironically believes Z-A has the potential to be anything more than inoffensive mush at best, can you elaborate on why? Is there anything more to your hope than wishful thinking or childhood nostalgia? I can't imagine this sentiment becoming so widespread without some kind of reasoning to it, so I'm curious.

Th i supposed to be a dub that is Truer to the Text, apparently.
Every time they do that shit the last 8 or 9 years as the advertisement it always ends up as half assed really shit no effort translations with excess current year-isms or worst cases mentions of gendershit or internet drama shit californian media people took ire with like gamergate in the worst of the worst cases.

But there's just something missing.
It's animated like the cheapest of cheap direct to streaming TV shows and it's a remake of a movie that had a lot of dynamic camera shots and more weighty movements. So many shots int his trailer where there's like nothing amimated but the characters standing in a static area and not even like the animation budget kind of standing around lmao

I think that Nintendo's heavy-handed approach toward Palworld...which addresses a lot of the wishlist and complaints people had, is quite telling, especially as it's far from the first "hunt, catch, and battle monsters" game.

Been thinking about these cards.
I've never really been seriously invested in the card game except for a tiny brief period in a time and place far away, but at this point, isn't it just essentially the same game from 25 years ago but with power creep and the occasional gimmick that goes nowhere?

Because we don't know yet. It's using a new battle system, and it's in the Legends series, which was quite the pleasant surprise itself, for its gameplay and open concept. Nothing has really been shown off yet, no cool exclusive mons (like the hisuian variants), just a battle system they've been working on since Legends Arceus' beta. We haven't had a Galar trees moment yet, imo.

I'm also just hopeful to be contrarian. Don't get me wrong: I'm still sincere in my belief, but all of this hand washing and negativity's triggered some ODD in me. Everyone keeps saying it'll be shit, so I'm starting to think it won't be. You can call me Pollyanna say I'm crazy as a loon. I believe in silver linings, and that's why... ;)

Speaking of - it’s hilarious how apparently no one at either Game Freak or Nintendo has every heard of the Streisand Effect.

All they had to do was ignore Pal World, and it likely would’ve flamed out and been remembered as a Flavour of the Month Indie Game, especially considering it’s Early Access state at the time. Sure, there’s an argument that it stepped on Pokemon’s toes, but you’re arguably the most financially successful IP in history, you can ignore it and not even notice it.

Instead, they launched the Lolsuit, and have dedicated so much time to Lawfare that they’ve inadvertently become the best marketing Pal World could’ve gotten, especially considering the state Pokemon is in insofar as the Mainline Games. It’s had the dual effects of pissing off people who had mostly tuned out of expecting anything from Pokemon, AND has likely fuelled Pal World’s development on sheer spite.

BASED doom & gloom rejecter.

Even if someone hates the state of things right now, there's always hope that things can still get better.
If people really didn't believe that there was any hope for anything, then they wouldn't even get out of bed in the morning.

How funny would it be if Western regions straight up banned Pokemon, all because Jynx existed for...just because something vaugely attributed to "racist caricature and imminent threat to race relations".

I remember circa middle school era for me when there was so much hype for games, but hardly anyone touched the TCG.
How the turn tables.

Glad the art is more full on the newer cards, they give a nice slice of life. Like with that Wailord and Magikarp card someone posted before. much better than when I was picking up booster packs…. Jesus like 17years ago….
While Gen 1 early cards I agree with you 100%, some of the Gen 2 cards started getting better:

When the whole (short-lived) digital card-reader phase came on around late Gen 2, we still had some awesome scenes:

Steelix.webp
Golduck.jpg

That Aquapolis Houndoom is probably still one of my favorite Hdoom card arts, and does the best to leverage both the fire side and the dark side of its build into the art.
And that Steelix looks some something fucking scarier than any dark or ghost type like what the fuck.
I remember unwrapping that fucker on a midsummer evening where the sun doesn't set till like fucking 9 and then looking out the window to the street at my Grandmother's house in the twilight just imagining that creepy fucker crawling up through the road towards me....

What was that digital code even for? Some newer TCG vidya?

Also, that data is very stable: as long as that ink doesn't fade, that data is still readable.
It was for the third generation of Pokemon games (Ruby and Sapphire). You'd use a card scanner to redeem berries, secret base items and new trainers to fight. It wasn't popular in the US.

Maybe there's some new gimmick in ZA, like it was when the whole EV thing happened.
Then they should keep the "original" in bank and give you a VR clone or alternate reality double or ancestor or some other duplicate. If it can't leave the game, it shouldn't be able to go into the game except as a copy.

The last time I remember the community being truly hyped about a pokemon game was when Sword and Shield first got announced. This wasn't without merit, pokemon games usually move platforms super late compared to other nintendo games, but this time, gamefreak capitalized on the switch and it's higher specs. People naturally were super excited about what a proper switch pokemon game could be like (let's go was more of a test game). This was before dexit and all the cracks about the game got leaked, same pokemon models and animations as XY back on the 3DS in 2013, forced exp share, etc.
From what I have already mentioned in other threads, this ended up transferring the hype train to the TemTem Station, that game being a PokéClone MMORPG that implemented a more strategic and ifficul take on the Pokémon Battle System. Them implementing the Platypet fakemon certainly helped. However, another game that got enormous hype was Let's Go Pokémon Mobile because of that game's 'true and honest high quality animations'. (They practically orgasmed over Blastoise actually using his cannons when shooting water.)

Of course, others already mentioned how TemTem was missing a lot o features and managed to make worse level design while the moderators hut off any criticism, even if that criticism was 'put an offline mode'. Meanwhile, hype towards Pokémon Let's Go Mobile died off when others noticed tha this game made in Red China stole your data. However, since TemTem was a relatively independent company whi Let's Go Pokémon Mobile was a bootle game, this caused the fandom to firmly believe that a better Pokémon game can only come from 'the outside'. This did not happen ex nihilo, though: there was already some resentment after the legal backlash Pokémon Uranium and Prism got.

I believe tha this was a big factor why PalWorld exploded in popularity: once people found that game was more than 'edgy Pokémon with guns', that game got he latent hype that disgruntled 'Pokéfans' had.

Honestly, the last time I found real hype was from Pokémon Legends: Arceus because of the semiopen world and more action-based gameplay, and even then that died off once that game lost support due to the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Also it's insane that switch pokemon single-handedly gave the switch the reputation of a "weak console" despite the platform being pretty strong for a nintendo console.

Nintendo consoles were always weaker than the competition. Part of this was mainly because of Gunpei's philosophy of using off-the-shelf materials. Nintendo simply keeps urprising others.
