I think you're being too autistic. Not every single copy of every game has been dumped.
While it is true that not every used game has been dumped it IS something to be mindful of, fixing the whole “this used game can’t be played because it was dumped by its previous owner” just requires you to submit a support ticket with Nintendo and sending them a photo of the receipt.

I've always figured the increases of Legendaries was because Pokemon The First Movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back made millions of dollars its opening week. That's why every movie is about a legendary. They must of figured Legendaries were the key to success, so they kept making them, and pushing them to churn out movies for yearly.
Sort of. It doesn't apply to ally legendaries, they didn't make things like Heatran or Regigigas specifically be in a movie, but it applies to some legendaries including almost all the event-exclusive ones. Lugia was actually made for the 2nd movie because the anime studio requested something from Game Freak to work with. GF originally just planned for Ho-oh fill the Mewtwo role for GS, but later decided to use Lugia as a counterpart to it and make each one a mascot for one version. They didn't have anything else planned out for Gen 2, which is why the anime studio arbitrarily went with Entei for the 3rd movie, and Celebi was supposed to a whole arc in the show (it was supposed to be in the GS Ball), but they scrapped the idea so they could use it as the star for the 4th movie. And then from what I can tell from circumstantial evidence, the Latis were probably designed for the 5th movie which is why they're kind of tacked on to RS and they have the light reference to the movie plot with the Soul Dew item

Starting with Gen 3 is when GF started making event Pokemon specifically to be in movies and be given out in events around those movies' release. They made two event legendaries, Jirachi and Deoxys, because they originally expected the Gen 4 game would be out in 2005, meaning Gen 3 would have three movies - Jirachi movie, Deoxys movie, and Gen 4 preview Pokemon movie. But they had trouble getting used to the DS and DP got delayed a year, so they're ended up being two Gen 3 movies starting Gen 4 Pokemon. First Lucario, who I think was designed as just a game design first but it was an early one they though would work as a movie star. And then Manaphy was revealed in an interview to be a random unfinished design that Sugimori had lying around that the picked to make into an event legendary because the anime studio asked for something for the 9th movie.

Then there were three other event legendaries in Gen 4 - Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus - to make sure they'd have enough this time. Gen 4 lasted four years, so it worked out with each getting a move and then there was the Zoroark movie to preview Gen 5. Not sure if Zoroark was made with a movie in mind, but considering it's kind of a Lucario clone it might have been. Then they made four event legendaries in Gen 5 to make sure they had enough, but Gen 5 only lasted three years so they actually went overkill there. Victini, Keldeo, and Genesect got movies, but Meloetta was just given the focus in the Pikachu short prior to Keldeo's movie and in a few episodes of the show, and was given out the same year as Keldeo. And Genesect's movie doubled as the Gen 6 preview movie.

So I guess they decided not to go overboard for Gen 6 and just made three - Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion - which was enough for the three years Gen 6 lasted, with Volcanion's movie doubling as the Gen 7 preview by having Magearna. And Magearna was really obviously designed for the movie since it's loosely related to Kalos lore and doesn't fit in Alola at all. And then I'm guessing for SM they knew ahead of time they would probably start introducing new Pokemon mid-gen so they made just the one event legendary, Marshadow. And then added Zeraora in USUM to be the star in the 21st movie. I'm guessing GF wasn't really aware of how the anime makers were planning to do something different the 20th movie though, because GF designed Marshadow to fit with Alola while the movie is a Kanto nostalgia thing where it doesn't fit at all. You can really tell the anime writers didn't consider Marshadow and Zeraora at all when coming up with the plots to those movies and were willing to just throw whatever GF gave them in there regardless (I think the same could be said for some easiler movies too).

GF hasn't really made any more event exclusive legendaries after Zarude, and you can tell it's because the anime movies stopped getting made so there was no longer any real point to them.

I managed to get two codes for myself tonight, so I'm all set.
The stores in my area that I called or spoke to in person said that they all still had 20-40 of their 50 codes left, and that was right before they all closed—so they should still have them tomorrow when they open. You'd think I would've learned by now to stop trusting what these people say, but whatever.

If I were to go to more stores and get extra codes tomorrow, would anyone here want one?
*raises hand* If you can, that'd be great.

I really do hope all the signs of Z-A being the most substandard game GameFreak's ever made are just my paranoia showing itself and that it'll pleasantly surprise me once it releases. :optimistic:

I have no idea if this is real, a irl friend sent it to me and he got it from "some nigga on twitter."
Good chances are that it's real, considering that first Kalos game was a 50-50 split on being filled with niggers(kind of like real France).
Not that it matters, your modern Pokemon consoomer is a drooling retard that will buy anything from this company

Looks fake, modded at best.
She's in-focus, but the bayleef isn't, and while you can argue it's because someone is recording a screen, there's some shifts in focus, where her blurriness changes, but bayleef remains pretty consistent. Also the weird animation skip at the end. I know their animations aren't always the best, but that was bad.

Code update:
I'm having plenty of luck driving around and getting codes.
If your issue with getting a code was not "there are no Gamestops near me" or "I live in a country that doesn't have the event," but was just "I assumed that they would be sold out by now," then just give a few of your local stores a call and see if they still have codes. (But do it soon.) It's not as hopeless as it seemed after that first weekend.

I got 9 codes today.
I'll send them by DM. The first one has already been sent out to @Peanut Butter Trails.

If you want a code, just ask for one, either in the thread or by direct message to me.
First come, first served. Please allow up to 24 hours for my work / sleep schedule to allow me to see your request and deliver it.

The codes expire on October 23. Make sure to use yours before then!
If there are still unclaimed codes as we get close to the 23rd, then anyone who's already gotten a code can ask for a second one.

No requests by accounts made today or later.

I'll try to keep a current count of how many are left. Right now, it's 8.
~1:30 AM EST, 10/6/2025 - Two more sent out. The count is now 6.
~2:40 AM - The count is now 5.
~7:00 AM - There are now 4 codes left.

For as bad as the new games are, I'm just glad they let you save in front of shinies, and you can reload without loss.

I just sandwich'd up a shiny poltchageist, and I would be fucked if I hadn't saved. It knows memento. :)

(I now know "Good As Gold" also deflects memento, but I was trying to use toedscruel at first)

All nine codes have now been given away. I don't have any more.
Happy to provide for all those who responded, and sorry if anyone missed out.

IF Gamestop does this again, where they release more codes (probably this Saturday, if at all), then I will drive around again and try to get more codes for you guys.
But if this does happen, then as I said before, I really encourage anyone who still wants a code to try to get one themselves (if they have a local Gamestop available). This second round of codes lasted way longer, and it's way more accessible than you guys might think. (And going yourself is a better plan than waiting for me and hoping that I can get enough codes.)

Back in the day when I first saw the first pocketmons movie, it was just the animu on the big screen.

Now when I see that movie it looks "very retro", which I did not see back then because no comparison.
I saw it on VHS. Both my best friend and me brought it, the same day, to watch at daycare. My bones hurt...

And something about the redo of it pissed me off. I think they skipped some story beats that made Mewtwo's story more compelling.

It's crazy how little hype there is for the new game. Personally I wouldn't really even want it but I have an expiring gift card I need to use.

I feel like a lot of the discourse over the newer games comes from people who’ve never played it and/or are just trying to be contrarians because those same people now all of a sudden love gen 5. They could go back to making 2D sprite based games and they’d still find something to complain about.

There's a redo of it?

Not surprising though, seeing how crappy S&V are.

I still think Gen 5 would've somewhat sucked if there weren't B&W 2, because B&W only having Gen 5 'mons with bizarre designs overall (like garbage bag, ice cream cone ...).

There‘s a reason for those designs related to Japanese folklore. They get knocked on constantly, but people who knock them forget about designs such as “flip it over” and “glue 3 together”.
