Wait, is Pokemon TCG difficult? I was always under the impression it was a simplified, more kid friendly version of Magic.
It's a little difficult, but if you're used to Magic the Gathering, then it's pretty simple in comparison: There's barely any keywords, you can only attack once per turn, you can't act on your opponent's turn, and you only have to deal with 6 cards max to win the game.

If you want to play it at a competitive level, basically most deck plans revolve around killing everything with one attack, not being killed with one attack, or a mix of both. Also most decks are filled to the brim with draw engines and tutors, so you kinda treat your deck as an extension of your hand most of the time lol.

I'm simplifying things of course, but I think it's a easier game to deckbuild and understand than MTG, I'd say piloting it is around the same level.

This is a real video released by the Department of Homeland Security. (archive)

As funny as this is, and it certainly is very funny, the idea of Nintendo actually suing the United States government over it is even more hilarious, and I hope it really happens.
This meme became official:

(NOTE TO THE MODERATORS: This is not a reaction image. I post this meme because people on X have been circulating this meme, which I find relevant to DHS doing a similar joke on X.)

Now that I actually saw the video, I was literally smiling th entire time. I even laughed a times. Have you seen the timing of 'You're my best friend'? They even used the Pokémon card format while showing us why they should be deported. Thi shows tha they grew up with Pokémon instead of being a 'How do you do, fellow kids!' moment.
My only wish is tha the 'fire in the house' cli played while you heard Charizard's Flame Thrower.
Ironically or fittingly, I am Puerto Rican, a Latino citizen of the United States.

On the suing thing... after what Pokémon did to PalWorld, I actually hope tha the United States government wins. After all, th is protected under United States parody laws. Though, even wi the US dub of the song, I wonder how Nipponese law orks against parody. (That was a reason why the first episode of Osomatsu-san was banned.)

You'd think that the people running the highest-grossing media franchise of all time would be a little less insecure about their position.
This video shows things from the Nintendo side:

I archived the link, too:

Bellibolt's eyes aren't actually its eyes.
I learned that yesterday and my day is still ruined today.

Today is the start of the shiny Koraidon & Miraidon event distribution.
The list of countries hosting the event has been expanded slightly from the original 5, but it's still not a ton of places.

If you live outside of one of these countries, let me know, and I will try to get you a code.

edit: uhhhhhhhh
we'll see what fucking happens, I guess

edit 2: the guy at the next store told me that they opened at 10:00 a.m. and were out of codes by 10:50. He said that people were literally camping outside to get them. I had no idea that it was going to be this big.
I did say I'd "try" to get codes for people... but it looks like I might not be able to.

edit 3: Every single store in my region (and even a few outside of it) are out of codes. None of them anticipate getting any more. They said that they even got fewer this time than in past events.

Welp. Sorry, guys.

The Sandshrew line is excellent.

Has anyone heard of this Trading Figure Game?

I used to collect those as a kid, I fucking loved them. An online mobile game called Pokemon Duel was kind of a spiritual successor to it, which was also very good.

Wait, I watched a bit and it said 2007, I played it in the early 00's. Weird, it seems very similar.

Hey, I found the codes!
total scalper death.webp
I'm so fucking naïve. I've never had a chance to participate in a distribution before, so when I was told that every store was out of codes, I honestly thought that it had just been more popular than I could've known to expect.
Nope. It was scalpers. All scalpers. At every single store.

Now I get why people were seething so much back when it was announced that this would be a serial code distribution.

Gamestop ceased operation this or last year in my homecountry. Very cool how Nintendo is so considerate of the fact Gamestop is a dying star.

EU doesn't even have an official Pokemonstore for fucks sake.

Why does Game Freak bother with these in-person events anymore? Like of course it made sense twenty years ago when just downloading the Pokémon online wasn't an option. Now it is and is infinitely more convenient. And it's been a while since I went to get one of these in-person code things, but they're free, right? It'd actually save Game Freak money since they won't have to make those little cards with the codes on them.

Yeah, the last time I went to get one of these from a game stop it was free. I have a small stack from Gen 6, somewhere.

My husband said some game stops are requiring that you show them your switch, so they know you have a reason to get the card at least.

I still own some, some where.
Nope. It was scalpers. All scalpers. At every single store.
It always is at all of these events. Legit customers are rare.

It supports local stores. If stores aren't supported they disappear and you lose a lot of casual sales.

Welp, local store said they're out, and all nearby stores are out. The guy said he would text us a pic from his regional manager, if they had extras, because the regional had like 1500, apparently. It's crazy, because I've never seen a free event like this get fucked over so bad.

I had some insane luck though, because I got a shiny hydreigon from a random 6* raid. I was just farming for more herbs, and we almost fucking lost, buuut...

If this is SV, are Teraraids still impossible to do or did they finally make them functional with the Switch 2 update? I'm at a loss for words concerning these codes because SV isn't worth that much aggravation.
