Even though N mentions not liking that Pokemon get hurt in battles a few times, the main thrust of his rants are about the idea that humans are using Pokemon to their own ends because they can't truly understand them (unlike N who can talk to Pokemon) as well as not liking the idea that humans think they can understand Pokemon (like the professors researching them and making the Pokedex to catalog them). You can whine that it's hypocritical for N to ask some Pokemon to fight on his behalf for a bit until he lets them go back to nature, but that's kind of stupid. The fact that N can straight up talk to Pokemon and ask how they feel will always give him a moral advantage in this argument from an in-universe perspective, which is why he slowly changes his mind because he talks to the player's Pokemon to find out how they feel about things.

And in total, you're all being dumb focusing so much on the argument about Pokemon battles being wrong or not. That's not what Black/White is even about. The whole story is about how diversity (in the general sense, not in the "more niggers" sense) and trying to understand the viewpoints of others is a good thing. It isn't remotely subtle about it, they hammer it in multiple times. There's constant talk about expanding your understanding of the world and the people in it, Bianca's whole thing is that her father needs to learn to think about how she feels, Cheren's whole thing is that he never thought deeply about why he wants to be a trainer and talking with others like Alder causes him to have a deeper understanding of what he wants.

Team Plasma aren't cartoon villains to try and make their anti-Pokemon battling message look bad, they're cartoon villains because they supposed to depict political extremism. This is clearly shown by that one gag line of one of grunts straight up saying "We will not accept other people's opinions!" You're not supposed to think that people need to learn to put their differences aside to work with Team Plasma, you're supposed to think Team Plasma are evil because they would never do anything like that. N believes the things he does because he's been inoculated in propaganda and only allowed to interact with people and Pokemon that would support his viewpoint his whole life. Team Plasma are political nutjobs who spout extremist rhetoric, accuse anyone who doesn't immediately agree with them of being evil, justify their own actions are being necessary to fight an evil society, and many members are not true believers but just thugs looking for a way to commit violence under a veil of moral justification that they'll be protected for. Their leader is a narcissistic psychopath who's knowingly using these extremist political tactics as a way to cynically amass power and put himself as the effective head of government.

That's what the story is about. Going "Uhh, why didn't the game go into Team Plasma's points about Pokemom battling and whether it's wrong? They're just strawmen!" is missing the point. Team Plasma are bad faith actors and brainwashed cultists, and the point is get you to recognize that and be more mindful of not becoming that yourself.

Amusing happening from the TCG gacha game. A new Johto-focused set just launched, but the immersive (some of the highest rarity pulls in the entire game) artworks had a bit of a problem....

Traced-over fanart. TCPI put out a statement claiming they'd provided their artist with "incorrect materials as official documents" and actually pulled the artwork before the set had even launched.

I can't tell if they figured this out themselves or if people making a ruckus after the art had been datamined a couple days before release made them take action, but for now there are... placeholders.

Does TPC just have a fanart folder lying around? How does something like this even happen in the first place?

It's kinda like that time when Sumo Digital accidentally used fanart in Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing and they had to patch it out.

It's unfortunately a pretty common thing when it comes to Japanese Ips, because this happened with Dragon Ball thanks to Toyotaro being caught using references for marvel as poses for the Dragon Ball super manga.

In Pokemon's case it's even more egregious because it's getting to the point to where fan content is beginning to outpace the franchise itself, and the teraleak revealed that they let out scrap designs that look like popular Fan works.

Nintendo established established a law that basically says they own anything that's tied to their IPs, but I don't think that holds up under too much scrutiny.

I'm not saying N is right, I'm just explaining his perspective. He believes having Pokemon inside Poke Balls is inherently cruel, so he releases them right after.
Dude was locked in a room with abused pokemon for friends. He probably sees the balls the same way he sees his room.

And the funnier thing about the sonic fanart they used, was that it was Sonia... From Sonic Underground.
Sonia-Comparison.webp
Sega doesn't even have the rights to Sonia lol

This isn't even the first time official Pokemon stuff has gotten caught stealing fan content. In ORAS there's a map you can see hung up in some houses, and the texture for it is just the fan-made PokeEarth map of all gen 1-4 regions on Serebii.net except downscaled and inverted.

And one of the trailers for the Scarlet/Violet DLC used a fanmade remix of the Area Zero music taken off Youtube instead of the original music.

Also when I searching for references for these things, I found out the Teraleak had some stuff from Pokken where they were figuring out how exactly the Pokemon should look, and Namco used a piece of DeviantArt fan art as a reference for Weavile. Not really the same thing since it wasn't in the final game or anything, but still kind of funny.

Since we're talking about generation 5, why do people think of the elemental monkeys?

They are the only Pokemon to have effectively gone the entire switch One generation without so much as a mention until ZA.

Even I didn't used to be fond of them, I almost always have them with me whenever I do replay BW, and found out from a Japanese friend that they're kind of supposed to be Gag mons.

The designs of their evolved forms imply that the three Pokémon failed in their assigned Wise Monkey roles. Simisage is patterned after Yankiis, who are known to be foul-mouthed and rude. Simisear's design is based on a bosozoku, who make loud noise by removing the mufflers on their motorcycles. Simipour is modeled after a kogal, who value their appearance more than anything else.

I'm fine with the monkeys. I don't particularly like them, but I find the people who hate them to be really autistic in their hate for them as they generally can't give a good reason for the intense dislike except that they "waste slots" in the Pokedex, which is an even stupider argument to make for Pokemon than it is for fighting games.

I used a Simipour in my most recent playthrough of Black 2, and it worked pretty well for an in-game Water-type team member. Fast but frail, and will good enough mixed offenses. Scald, Ice Punch/Beam, and Acrobatics gives a good enough range of coverage, and since I was playing a hack where everything was Triples, Acrobatics had the extra benefit of being able to attack targets in the opposite corner.

I found them annoying as a kid, because I didn't like the handholding the game did by making you catch one to use in the gym. I was in high school, and I knew my type matchups damnit.

But now, they're wholly inoffensive and kinda cute.

Agreed, tying max particles to battle entry and upgrading pokemoms was DUMB but not as dumb as the amount of candies and XL candies required to upgrade moves which whales over the Silphroad will say it's fine since after all the events and community days you should have a bajillion candies (nevermind that for years they told you to just spend the candy and XL candy is scarce and a"recent" addition to the game).

As for the max raids themselves, for a long time I didn't bother with them since the cost of entry was steep (and last year the soft cap and daily particles were lower)
I recall being invited (remotely) to one of the gigantamax galar starters raids and seeing something like 30 or 40 people in the lobby, thought to myself "should be easy with this many people". I think we did less than 1/4 of the boss's hp bar before everyone got wiped out,I was soured on the concept again.
Gave them another chance during go fest since I could just use the sword/shield dogs which I was gonna power up anyways and ended up liking them. Turns out I was going the wrong way about getting my pokemon ready for them: often You only need to unlock and upgrade a single move to lvl2 and your party should consist of 1 attacker and two tanks/healers, mind you this is totally alien to someone used to normal raids where DPS is king and everything else takes a backseat.
It is a nice change of pace from normal raids and I like the fact that defensive pokemon finally have an use in pve content but the cost of entry is absolutely horrendous, they really need to decrease candy costs.
Max content was mean for endgame, but this should have been accessed when you hit the 40s, not level 13. At this point of the game, we should be seeing Pokemon with Max abilities in the wild without a p2w mechanic (Word is Eternamax might make Max Pokemon show up). Some new players are going to take a while to learn how to farm stardust and the candies you need to build Pokemon. Remote max battles should have been available from day-one because players had problems finding people to participate in Max battles. Even when I found people to do Max battles with, they're so demanding with coordination (good luck coordinating a group of 40) and knowing what ideal moves you want the bosses to have (You can do with legendary max fights, not Gmaxes). The worst max experience I had was with Entei because nobody in my group leveled their Pokemon, and the event was so unorganized. the 400+ Cinderace Max fight at GoFest was...something (It nuked more than half of the people doing it at GoFest). I really have a bad feeling about Eternatus.

I used the same approach with certain Pokemon where I only built 1 or 2 main moves if I had the dust and candy. Snorlax is my tank to build energy (his normals aren't bad, and Blissey is my second slot for healing) and when it time's to use max moves, I'll either throw armor/heals or nukes with my DPS Pokemon (Gengar for the Latis). I'm hoping to get lots of stardust from Butterfree this Sunday.

I always report videos that have gay shit in the thumb nail or title, make sure everyone reading this goes to the video reports it for Sexual content and write about how it's about exposing kids to sex, it's a kids' game and faggot shit should never have anything to do with it.
And he doubled down by screeching how criticizing Mega Dragonite might be Muh Soggy Knee.

I actually like how goofy and dumb they are. Simipour in particular is my favourite out of the 3 (panpour gets scald in the mid 20s, need I say more) and for some reason all 3 of them has pretty solid speed and attacking stats for a playthrough + wide movepool

Was a Flying-typ Eeveelution cancelled because the design was very similar to a fan design?
Yup, according to the leak TPC feared being accused of plagiarism so the design was scrapped and could explain why there has not been a new eeveelution since.

I actually wish the Pokemon company and Nintendo did more with them because it felt like they were designed to be mascots early in generation 5 but plans for that were shelved.

The idea of pseudo starters has so much potential

If you genuinely believe the BW story impedes the gameplay you probably don't have the attention span to actually judge what makes a good story.
Strawman argument. Everyone admits the story is bad but I'm the problem if I would rather have no story over a bad story? BW supporters must have played the game as actual children and hold the nostalgia for their first pokemon games.

Same pokemon with different elements is a good idea. A monkey or Eevee style trio in games would be welcome. Give players a choice of what they get so they're making a choice to evolve not just catching what's available.

The fanart stuff is devs googling stuff and taking what they find. They use the same tools we do and it's not always marked properly on Search engines.

Everyone admits the story is bad
No one did. Something not being amazing doesn't make it bad. Writing and the quality of writing is not a binary or an equation. I'm not going to call the writing in any rpg bad just because it's not as good as Kotor 2 or New Vegas. The closest you've gotten to other people saying the story is bad here is an argument the writing is not as good as it's held up as.

@Level99Manchild I believe that they should have just given a research with a decent fully evolved max pokemon as ir rewards early into max raids introduction, while you are supposed to prepare for these boss battles you still need other players equally prepared and with how much of a resource sink max pokemon are in general... Better give the casuals something so they aren't a total liability. Hell, a better initial roster of max pokemon would have been just as good, people bitch and moan about people bringing wooloos, well no shit they were one of two available pokemon when the feature was released.

I think it's a sin that they are effectively useless in competitive due to them having 1 evo rather than 2. They are essentially stuck as a second stage starter Pokemon, so not only are they less powerful but Eviolite doesn't work on them. Shame, as I like their designs, but they are completely pointless outside of single player.

My first White playhtru had Simipour as one of my aces, it's in late level 70s as well. Same with a Dewgong I transferred all the way from FireRed, shame you can only really use these Pokemon to their full potential in the campaign as they simply cannot do anything useful on a competitive level.

Gale of Darkness gives you an Eevee as a starter and you can get any of the 5 eevolutions early on in the game if you want(that includes special stones not re-introduced since to get an Umbreon or Espeon if you want). Colosseum did something similar by having Umbreon and Espeon be your actual starters, but early on you have a choice of fighting one of three special Cipher peons who each has one of the Johto starters. You fight the ones you missed later on in the game, with the last one appearing all the way at the end.
