Even with the Unova Tour and the new p2w Pokemon, Pokemon Go did worse than last year's Sinnoh tour (call me crazy or autistic, but a $16-20m drop from last year is pretty bad).

Archive for this year's revenue
Last year's revenue archived

A lot of people are complaining about GO Tour: Unova's global event being garbage for a mutiple reasons.
  • No boosted Shiny Rate outside of certain Pokémon (Go Tour: Sinnoh technically had the same issue but it was slightly fixed by a large amount of Pokémon having already-boosted Shiny odds)
  • Kyurem's catch rate being abnormally low.
  • Low spawn rates for certain wild Pokémon, most notably those that were a part of the Tour Pass's bonus missions.
  • No additional raid passes outside of the one free pass you get daily, even the paid ticket only yields one additional free raid pass per day.
Upon retrospect I really should've done a better job of taking part in the in-person event (and possibly spending some scratch on Super Incubators), maybe then my Shiny count for the in-person event wouldn't be 10 Pokémon away from the global version. Oh well, I'll just log this as a lesson in how to handle GO Tour: Kalos next year.

So basically an expanded version of Pokémon Amie and Pokémon Refresh?
You forgot to mention the multiple tickets shoved in your face and the pass being a waste of time and money whether or not you bought it. You know that lucky trinket you can use for a lucky trade? Well, it turns out if you don't use it within 6-8 days, you will lose it. I hope you know someone that has a Pokemon you want because if you don't, kiss that $14 investment good-bye. What made it worse was that players only had two days to hit level 100 on the passes, and the rewards from the free and paid versions sucked (Lots of people got shitty Victnis). Thank god I didn't buy the pass, but I bought one ticket for the extra raid pass and exp/stardust boost. It got me to level 43 a little faster, but that's about it.

Only a few people caught shinies in the wild, and if you didn't buy the Egg ticket your chances at Sigilyph were slim. The only shinies I caught were Zekrom and Reshiram. Kyruem's rates were really bad, and most people didn't get good ivs. Kyurem Black and White are the most p2w af Pokemon right now because they make and break catches with their abilities (I hope you like farming their candies). I was watching videos of Japanese youtubers looking miserable doing this event, and even shills had a hard time defending this.

I honestly think this coming season is going to be even worse than the last 2 seasons.

On the one hand: five free genesects from the raid glitch. On the other: all of this bullshit.
No boosted shiny rage was so stupid. I feel like if they're going to do confetti, they should boost the shiny rate.
Problem is Genesect is kinda meh, and Bug types kinda suck now that we're getting closer to 1025+ Pokemon.

...am I crazy for thinking Pokemon Go was dead and no one gave a shit about it? Is it still popular enough to have someone die or get injured from sheer stupidity every once in a while or is it just a niche thing now.
It was niche, but remote raids gave it traction until they got nerfed. Then Niantic pandered to tranny groomers and pedos with the avatar update, and gave us Dynamax/Gigantamax content nobody likes to do. It's been declining ever since. Putting new Pokemon behind fomo events without their signature moves and shiny forms ain't helping things, and we're reaching the stage where most new Pokemon are shiny-locked.

I assume that meant people could sit on their ass and participate in raids.

Ahhahaha, I remember that shit. I especially remember someone going "LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY GIRL" when their nice avatar was obliterated to pander to future statistics-I mean "body positive" luntroonatics.

Most dogshit addition to any Pokemon game both mechanically and visually...well some were cool looking. And then undynamaxxed Dracovish or whatever just one taps them anyway because he was so broken. Not sure how it is in Go but I'm sure it's just as shit if not worse.

See this is why I don't play mobile games. Made by greedy retards for impulsive retards who'll see shit like this and still cling on for dear life, but they're not even real video games anyway so eh I don't care. I don't take a shit often nor long enough to warrant having a game (outside of emulators) on my phone, nor do I take public transportation for long periods of time so I'm pretty much excluded from all reasons to play them.

This may sound like some "hot take", but why does it seem like graphics of core pocketmons vidya always lag behind? Like compare Gen 1 & 2 to Link's Awakening (DX), the Gen 3 vidya (RSE, FRLG) to Golden Sun, Gen 4 to 7 to Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, and Gen 8+ to Mario Odyssey or the new remake of Link's Awakening, and you may see what I mean here.

(Of course graphics alone don't always make or break a vidya though.)

GF is a small studio, they can make lots of money but this money isn't being used to make their games better at any time. And of course, even when the graphics and games are complete dogshit, you still have retards buying 2 games, even when not needed. And you know what is worse? Even spinoff pokemon games have better graphics in the aame generation like the various MD, rangers and so on.

I recently played a FR hack, and even a modified game managed to make the locations in the game looks better than the original game, and ai hate Kanto with all my passion. One of my greatest desires would be to completely remap all the map of Hoenn so it doesn't look like a series of square with one or two buildings.

I am currently playing Pokemon Unbound. The fact that this is a modified version, not even in an original engine and every city looks like cities, some buildings have one floor or more. But in the end there is no reason to improve, you will still get customers and buy in bulk.

I wish there was a competitor that would make them step their game up like in all fronts. Remember the pokémon movies? They could release whatever bland shit and still made lots of money. The recent ones got better tho.

Started playing Nikke three weeks ago, it is my second gacha game mobile experience (I still play FGO after 9 years).

You have no idea how much jewed nikke is, they try everything to take money out of you, every single time. It is complete bullshit. In FGO I never felt like this, being an older game that makes you play the game to get rewarded. In nikke every time you can advance by paying cash, buy skins, read the next chapter of the event if you pay, every time you complete a atory chapter they flash you a sale trying to sell you currency. And the game isn't even good, they have a feature to make it play alone lol

And I will always be a f2p, but going from a relatively old school gacha to a newer one is just shocking at how much they jew you out.

I forgot to post my current party loadout.

I'm almost sure this should be enough for the elite 4, if you were wondering wgat doodoofart is holding he is holding a quick claw. Thanks to everyone who responded I didn't know the game was really fucking easy, only reason I thought it was hard is because grinding low level pokemon is a bitch, only remedy I have found is using the daycare. I was curious about evolving pokemon because I wanted to fill out the pokedex completely, it's seems from the replys I have read it doesn't seem feasible so I might just have to move on to pokemon emerald, anyone have any suggestions for that one? I don't know im just trying to find pokemon game that isn't too unvanilla where I can catch everything and not have to worry to much about reading shit online to finish it. Also ignore my obscenely autistic names I chose.
If you want to capture all 386 Pokemon in Fire Red/Leaf Green I suggest playing one of the many romhacks. In fact, I am playing thru one right now(Pokemon Fire Red Remixed), and I am planning to do a write up summarizing my thoughts on it + pros/cons when I am done.
If you're looking for a good Emerald romhack, you're in luck I recently covered a nice QoL 386 romhack recently you can try
Finally finished my Revelation Emerald playthru
I also heavily suggest playing thru the GameCube romhacks I covered as well, play their vanilla counterparts first if you haven't.

Since we're posting our teams, I will post mine since I've been doing more Trigger's PC shenanigans and have my fresh savefile loaded:
pokemon.png
I used this team to catch a Jirachi that's in the Berry Forest. You would think there would be a Celebi there, and so did the mod author since he hinted as such, but I guess he swapped the two around and now Celebi is on Two Island, Cape Brink. That's my next target.

A few notes on my team here:
*You will notice a Japanese Pokemon. One of the benefits of using Trigger's PC is being able to load any Gen 3 savefile, no matter if it came from a Gameboy Advanced or Game Cube game(it even reads Pokemon Box savedata), no matter which international version. The data it reads is the same. Since I know there is no way to get a legit Japanese Pokemon in gen 3, I "borrowed" some of them from a Japanese gamesave I found. I figured it doesn't matter, since there was never a GTS that would let you trade for legit foreign Pokemon like in later games(where I do indeed have legit Japanese Pokemon).
*Entei will have it's Ember replaced with Sacred Fire and Electrode it's Tackle with Light Screen and Spark with Zap Cannon. SF and ZC are GC Romhack only level up moves so the first order of business when I get back into the game is actually transferring these two into the GC games and giving them rare candies for level ups, then bring them back to Trigger's PC once they learn their moves and back into FRR they go. This simple process takes only a minute or two, way faster than doing so manually with Gameboy/DS consoles or god forbid trying to set up a trade with a console. Heal Bell for Jolteon is also similarly a NeXt Gen exclusive move and let me tell you, I love this combo.
*My nature and moveset for Ludicolo dates back to when I thought the romhack had special/physical split(which to be fair, was advertised as such. Apparently everybody links only the normal version of the romhack, or the latter one never existed/is lost to time). Extra attacking power would help make Ludicolo a mixed Pokemon at the cost of speed, as is it's merely a decent all-round Special attacker.

Devs barely know what they're doing or that their using the wrong engine for it. Going by an old run of Violet, the background becomes an fuzzy mess after a few hundred meters where Odyssey and BOTW manages to largely hold their shit together. Although, in Zelda's case, it has trouble rendering NPCs and some foliage if you're riding a horse at full speed.

And also, GF couldn't be bothered to design the interior of most of the houses in Scarlet & Violet for some retarded reason.

But I haven't really heard much of anything bad about Arceus, aside from the non-reflective water that someone else bitched about. That one had always felt a bit on the lifeless side, to me.

For the same reason that Canadian NHL teams are so poorly-managed compared to the American teams:
The fanbase is too loyal.
There's not much incentive for them to put in the extra effort to actually try to do things well, because they know that their fans will still show up and give them money either way.

I wish that they'd just bring back the petting & cleaning thing that Gen 7 took from Gen 6's Pokemon-Amie and improved upon.
They already had the system. The Switch still has a touch screen. Just take out the game-breaking bonuses and it'd be fine.

Let me brush off the dust from the attack that my Leafeon just took and then scritch his chin and listen to him trill happily.

I get why it appeals to people but honestly I hated it as a longtime fan. Pokeamie and petting minigames just divert resources away from actual sidegames and let GF dangle something shiny in front of their audience to distract from the crumbling foundation of these games.

But how does that explain why Red and Green having crappier graphics back when it started? Maybe the game had crappy graphics because Game Freak was a small studio, but then vidya sold really well anyway, so Game Freak did not bother to really improve graphics after?

Any word on if Nintendo intends on remaking PMD Explorers of Sky?

At least I hope they stick with Sky because that version had so many improvements that there is absolutely no reason to consider getting the other two versions, at least on stuff that actually matters. If anything, the stuff Sky added fleshed out the universe and characters in ways that make you feel like this might be the most "beefy" plot of the whole franchise (at least where gaming is concerned so no "ahktualliy" about the mangas). And Game Freak has shown that they kind will absolutely ditch the improvements made by the "third version" and stick with the original first two versions for reasons I really cant tell (some say it might be for the sake of loyalty but honestly, it really feels like its laziness at the end of the day. Never forget how they teased the Battle Frontier and other Emerald exclusive things in the Ruby and Sapphire remakes).

Edit: Maybe Im being optimistic...

That annoyed me. But I got stuck in a few doorways due to a glitch. It's usually a while void. But one shop in that city... Medali? I can't recall. But you can get stuck inside and there's a small interior that you can see from the outside. It has red booths and you can walk around a little bit. Since it's a bit more detailed than the white voids I'm wondering if it was initially going to have a full interior and it was scrapped.

As a kid I always thought that Gen 1 was on par with other Game Boy games at the time, Gen 2 was better than Link's Awakening DX (garish colors there). Comparing Gen 3 to Golden Sun is a little unfair since Golden Sun seems to be specifically made (and I did just fool around in an emulator to refresh my memory) to try to make it look like the GBA was a miniature PlayStation (trying to cheat with pre-rendered graphics).

That wore off quickly when it got mostly SNES ports.

Colors aside (which I like BTW), I still think LA looks better than GSC. The landscapes in GSC are more artificial looking with a lot of straighter edges and sharp corners, and the trees do not look as good. And interiors of buildings in GSC seem to have a more ridiculous scale because a lot of interior stuff are just one tile. And on the GBA, RSE and FRLG seem to have those same issues. Minish Cap looks better. But like I said, crappy graphics alone doesn't always make vidya suck (if it did all old vidya sucks).

Gen 2's not above criticism, especially when it comes to the difficulty curve and balance issues...but at the same time, it innovated in all the right ways. If they can't make marked improvements and innovations in a three year turnaround, they need to ease off. Which they didn't.

That's the most telling part of SV: The fact they couldn't even bother to render in an interior shop cell, something every other game until that point had. Not to mention that most of the shops in the game are sandwich shops for whatever reason, imagine having a game based off your country(Spain in this case) and the only thing Gamefreak can think of is le baguette, especially since we already had the French region.

Pokeamie was a decent minigame and tied in well with the whole concept of caring for your Pokemon. The core mechanics are there, they just need to add new AI and animations for brand new Pokemon(obviously too hard for them to do). The whole not-friendship mechanic would have to be reworked, it's too busted, but there should still be some rewards for caring about your Pokemon.

Oh, and I was genuinely looking forward to have the academy fully modeled; but it looks like that was also too much for them.

And regarding the shops, I think that they were planning on axing them since Gen V. As convenient as it was to have merged with the Pokemon Centers, they never really fitted in with the rest of the building. I think that it was either Gen VI or Gen VIII that had the ugliest ones.

Not to mention that most of the shops in the game are sandwich shops for whatever reason
But this shit is pretty weird, though. I'm well aware that it's an (unnecessary) money sink; but why is it mostly French bread with some Italian stuff mixed in?

It's clear by this point that Gamefreak is completely burned out on making Pokemon. In a game set in Spain, DLC about a Japanese inspired region and Unova get more attention than Paldea, which is the most generic, featureless region imaginable. That's like calling a debug room a Pokemon region, since this whole game is just a tech demo they made people pay 70$ + another 70$ for DLC + Home fees and Online fees for.
