Niantic is in talks to sell Pokemon go to the Saudis. I for one. Am open to change. but given what I have seen about scopely. I can see myself packing my things and jumping ship.
If this happens it'll go full gacha like WWE Champions, the gacha that you'll remember DSP went bankrupt in part because of spending tens of thousands of dollars on it instead of his mortgage on his Connecticut condo.

Checking out more of the TCRF articles for anything new. I casually click on the BW2 page, and uh...

lolwhut
For reference, we got the character design sheets in this leak as well. Check the date, 2011 means that this old design was nipped in the bud VERY quickly and lead to the finalized Iris design in BW2 a year before launch, likely not edited much to avoid further problems.
PokeBW2_ConceptArt_Iris.png
Iris already seems to be one of the populars with the NSFW/pedo Pokemon art scene, I can only imagine the mayhem that a barefoot, pantyless Iris in this costume would unleash. Almost as bad as Sonic ever taking off his shoes in any official media or material, I can't even imagine the deviancy either of these would bestow upon us. I guess I can't be too surprised considering this is the same studio that gave us canon zoo/pokephilia impregnation/rape lore just casually sitting in the same pile of documents.

For a less degenerate find, it seems that Hilda and Hilbert both started life from the same prototype overworld sprite
They took Lucas from HGSS, trooned him out so he becomes an NPC like girl character, and then made both Hilda and Hilbert from that sprite. Overworld design came first, the final look was finalized rather early on with little details changed here or there until we got a battle sprite, and the final Hilbert and Hilda we know today. Not sure if that original girl sprite they used as a base is in the game anywhere, looks too generic to tell.
The original designs for the gym leaders was already covered back when the leaks were dropping, but I haven't seen anyone post this fantastic piece of artwork yet

It seems not all of these even got as far as getting their overworld or battle sprites made before their designs were changed to look more like the ones in the final game, so this is a very early piece of artwork. Honestly, I like some of these better than the final ones, I would have preferred a nice looking scientist Lenora to a sassy Aunt Jemina Lenora we got in the final game for example.
I'm saving all the new videos that cover the beta builds, just in case. Hope that none of the interesting ones were taken down already, it's been a while since the leaks happened.

Honestly, I like some of these better than the final ones,
Skyla's final irish immigrant design is a definite improvement over the latinx one but hippy (bell bottoms lul) researcher Lenora is better and the Striation Trio actually look like the kids the leaked drafts originally envisioned them as (I don't think anyone ever thought Cilan was only four years older than Iris before these).

Niantic recently announced that they’ve made changes to their accepted items policy for GO Tour: Unova - Los Angeles yesterday, the bag policy is now in-line with the Rose Bowl’s clear bag policy and you’re allowed one portable charger that‘s the size of a smartphone or smaller.

And yes, people really aren’t happy about this. The clear bag policy I can understand to some extent but the battery pack rule is just silly, the highest-capacity battery pack you could probably take to the event is a 20,000 mAh one.

Originally, Zerkom and Reshiram would be sitting on top of a bridge in the menu screen, ala King Kong on top of Empire State Building. This likely means the intro at the start would have had been a 3D cinematic instead of that weird animated movie with N(which was also longer but was cut down for the final game).

I like the animated movie. Does a good job of establishing the backstory of the plot and N's character. Reshiram/Zekrom on top of the bridge just raises questions about whether or not that would be an actual event ingame or something just done to look cool.

It fits in with the kind of animated intro DPP or HGSS had. Honestly, first time players are just confused at the final intro cutscene in BW, I've had several people tell me they thought they fired up the wrong game at first since it does look like the world's most generic JRPG intro without any context.

It would have made a fun first encounter early on in the game.

I'm reading up on the cut gender differences introduced in Gen 4 on TCRF, and I got a question: How long did these last for? I barely remember them in Gen 4, but I don't remember if they stuck with them for Gen 5, seems like a lot of work for nothing. I very much doubt that these carried over into Gen 6 and onwards with the 3D models, with how little of a shit about general quality Gamefreak gave at that point.
Speaking of gender differences, it looks like Gamefreak wanted to go a step further and give females a different sprite pose than males, from the looks of it. Would have been even more work if they had to do two poses for every single fucking Pokemon, not to mention tiny differences between one another they had to adhere to for the rest of time.
Honestly, the only one that stuck with me was lipstick for female Wobuffets, since I used those a lot in my XG/Revelations Emerald playthrus. Threw me off at first that it wasn't present in either GC or GBA games.

I have an open mind. There is no reason for us to pass judgment immediately. I want to see how things work out. People said that Net Ease would make Marvel rivals a miserable money hole and turns out it's not. I am gonna give these new owners a chance. If they have the right idea with the right team then that's what it is.
Oh, I'm fine if Scopley takes over Go at this point.

Most people, myself included, carry a charger that will last a while. It seems stupid to regulate the chargers, but then again it is Commiefornia. The autists in my group meetups would be hating the charger rule, since some of them bring a laptop and their phone.

I know the popular thing on social media is to complain about these people buying up all of the cards from those crappy vending machines or camping in the target parking lot to get a jump on the vendors, but like ever since we switched to collecting Japanese we haven’t seen many of these creatures in the hobby anymore.

If I remember right you're spot-on they didn't carry over into 3D - I ask people in the know to correct me - but I explicitly remember most of the fandom at the time thinking it was actually a very nice touch to have gender differences, a call-out to various species' gender dimorphism in real life. It felt like a bit of passion into building up Pokemon's world and a reminder they were all animals in an ecosystem, fantastical as it was. Stuff like that, or the much earlier slight color differences in Stadium 1 for various mons really leaned into the aspect every pokemon was unique in its own way, you know? Just like the size differences I THINK were also in Stadium 1 and returned in Legends.

Very telling it was pre-3D and when BW's reception seemingly killed Game Freak's idealism in making the games, and thus streamlining all those unique differences for mass-marketing's sake.

The stopped the gender differences moreorless when they started focusing on forms/regional differences.

Thank god they did honestly, the gender differences were so small.

You can see how much they lost their love in gen 6 when the only mega they put in for gen 6 was the mythical Pokemon. Gen 5's only mega (which they added in ORAS) was the goddamn exp pinata.

I actually did some more research and the restrictions are for the venue themselves, there will be bag checks for non-compliant bags and you can swap out chargers at will (so long as they fit the "cellphone size or smaller" rule they've set up).

I think I might be able to get away with taking my portable chargers, my phone's roughly the size of the larger one with its carrying case and the others are smaller than my phone despite packing 20,000 mAh of power. As far as the clear bag's concerned I'm borrowing one from a friend.

Eh... you still see 'em every now and then and they're the reason why JPN booster boxes have become really expensive lately.

That said I'm more surprised I'm not seeing any fights break out over this, these vending machines are almost always in supermarkets that sell cooking implements and I don't think I need to bring up big box stores like Target.

They’re more of a rarity as the hits are worth less than their English counterparts. These people are only in it for the money so knowing that, they tend to avoid them and stick to the ones people are willing to camp out for and you can get at big box stores like target and Walmart.

Personally I don’t like these machines because they’re pretty much just a waste of space and electricity and are constantly sold out. I think most people who aren’t into pokemon also see them and think of them the same way as claw machines with plushes or fidget toys and trinkets in them. They really should start cutting back on them because they really don’t do anything but suck up electricity and stay empty until the vendor’s employee shows up to restock it again and repeat the cycle. That’s the best case scenario, at worst they also can draw people willing to act out and commit crimes over these damn things.
