All that text at the top reads "jibun dekimeru", which I think means something like "pick own name", then there's "Green", "Shigeru", "Tsunekazu"(?), and "Satoru". Text at bottom reads "kimi no namae wa?", or "your name is?". Text being in all kana is really helpful.
Yes, this is the intro screen where you select your name, gender and rival's name. Oak looked completely different too, I don't want to fill the thread with something you can easily check yourself but it's all there

I'm almost done with the base Galar Pokédex. I just have to obtain the Type: Null line now, they're going to be a pain to get since they're only available in the post-game as a gift Pokémon in the Battle Tower.
There is also a secret event nobody knows about. You have to play as a girl to trigger it.
Warning! It won't work If you don't have Boltund at your first team slot and five Alcremie.
First, you do camping at the wild area. You have to eat 88 currys in a row and leave the menu between each time.
If a battle occurs inbetween, you have to restart.
When you're done, you go to the steakhouse in circhester where you can find Dear Feeder looking for fat girls to caress.
When he spots you waddling through the door, he'll chase you with huge affection.
You can battle and catch him now. However, If you catch him while having moomoo cheese in your inventory, he'll get an autistic meltdown about cheese and it'll crash and corrupt the game. Your save file gets deleted and every time you try to start a new game you will see a shattered image of Elon Musk autistically staring at you.

So yeah it can turn your 60 bucks triple A game into an useless brick but it's worth it.
I highly recommend trying this at home, as dear feeder is very powerful and can use the incredible secret technique permaban, which can be unlocked at the fairy gym, but that's a story for another day.

You jest, but there was a serious issue at launch which did turn your entire Switch into a brick, also due to a save bug. I am not sure if this was ever fixed(I remember reading that it can't ever be fixed due to an oversight with the console hardware itself, literally every other studio works around it aside from Gamefreak who is too incompetent), but I do remember reddit/twitter being in complete damage control mode over it, at the same time people made fun of the N64 tree, the awful animations and...everything else.

Hidden Nool event is at least cool.

I did some research on that and apparently that it was either bunk (due said bricking being "caused" by SWSH turning the Switch's NAND as VRAM, something that the games can't do without tampering with the OS) or the person who reported it installed, incorrectly or otherwise, homebrew onto their Switch.

There was also the issue of digital copies of the game bricking folks' SD cards due to the Switch not handing exFAT-formatted cards well and that was reported by folks running the Switch's original OS.

That's what I remember too. However, I also heard that there is a similar save/bricking issue with SV that hasn't been fixed since, which is all the more believable with how broken that game is. Could be that the issue is legit but effects those who homebrew more than the normal customer, either way it's embarrassing that Gamefreak let something like this happen in the first place.

I liked the Orre duology, I think it handled the same themes as Red/Blue(criminal empire using technology to enslave Pokemon, make them stronger and take over the world) but did them better. Since it wasn't done by Gamefreak, nobody will ever remember those games however.
The biggest crime of Battle Revolution was killing any chance of a new Orre game. I unironically believe GF intentionally bungled it so it could just handwave the poor reception and say that people weren't interested in a follow-up on the Wii.

Niantic is in talks to sell Pokemon go to the Saudis. I for one. Am open to change. but given what I have seen about scopely. I can see myself packing my things and jumping ship.

I really like the fused kyurem/reshiram tail...
But that's the original female model, and I'm immediately angry it's gone.
As an aside, I learned in Cobblemon that riding a pokemon prevents drowning, and this is the superior way to encounter things.

I finally found another dhelmise, after seeing one in the distance the other day. I couldn't get to it in time, and it despawned.

I'm wondering if TPC was involved with this knowing Niantic has been shitting the bed for a while (not like TPC gives a fuck)? For the game to hit the 8 billion mark mark last June, $3.5B seems kinda low (maybe I'm wrong).

This was 100% intentional because Niantic knows nobody is buying any cosmetics when they use the new avatars. When I see shit like the picture below and think about how awful most of the Max content was, My MATI comes out and I'm kind of glad Pogo might leave Niantics hands.

And Niantic wondered why January's revenue was bad, and their 2024 revenue was low?! I don't know if the game will get better hearing about Scopley's track record. It'll probably be more p2w, but if it means no more of these fucking awful avatars, fuck it. Not gonna lie, I hardly played Pogo lately (though I'm gonna aim for a good Terrakion and dragons).

Long live the king! Suffah dentractors

God please let this happen it would generate so much soyboy seethe
They're already crying about wha Scopley is gonna do to the game, but not everyone is butthurt about it. A couple of them are more or less Scopley can't be worse than Niantic.

>but not everyone is butthurt about it.
I think that's partially due to a couple of factors. The first is that Niantic will have to give The Pokémon Company a warning well in advance of any sort of sale since the game uses the Pokémon IP, the second is that these talks are still in the early phases and it could peter out.

I don't know much about IPs laws, but doesn't Niantic have a contract to honor with TPC before it considers selling the game to somebody else? You would think TPC would have some involvement with this because it's their IP. Who knows if this deal goes through or flops? This should be interesting to follow (too bad I can't say the same for the game itself even though I still play it).

I have an open mind. There is no reason for us to pass judgment immediately. I want to see how things work out. People said that Net Ease would make Marvel rivals a miserable money hole and turns out it's not. I am gonna give these new owners a chance. If they have the right idea with the right team then that's what it is.

Going back to the mainline games for a bit, you know what I miss? Being able to go wherever I want and have options which main objectives I want to do. FRLG/RGBY do this around the midgame(where I am now), but I can't recall any other game that gives you this level of freedom until Pokemon went "open world" with SV(and even then it was handled poorly due to out of whack power scaling). The closest I can think of would be DPP where you are given a choice between tackling the Water gym or Fighting gym first, other than that it's railroad city all the way. Once I play romhacks of all mainline games, I would love to play one that gives you actual player choice like a proper RPG should, to see how that would work with Pokemon formula.
