It was never good, Wizards of the Coast intentionally saw to that.
It's at least easier to understand than some of the others. Attach energy, knock out the other with an attack from the energy, and draw from your prize pool. If you run out of prizes: you win! There's no silly defense mode, trap cards, pendulum summons...

HHHRRRRRRMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG

yeah so i got myself that shiny alolan vulpix i was talking about on the last page :smug: oh, but don't worry, though, it absolutely fucking sucks and it's like the worst possible everything - male, lonely nature, shit stats, no titles

my shiny alolan vulpix is an incel

edit: what really sucks is that i also had an umbreon outbreak, but i didn't have any more herba mysticas after the vulpix outbreak, and despite doing 5 or 6 star raids, i wasn't getting shit. but i figured, i have at least one shiny eevee in one of my other games that i could transfer over, as well as a shiny kanto vulpix, so maybe i'll do that if i'm really inspired.

The stadium cards were more like general buffs/debuffs, if I remember right. They weren't, like, a consistent staple, I think.

yugiohs is confusing
Pretty much this, they're cards with effects that are applied to both players that can either be beneficial or detrimental. There was a three-set period where a Stadium from one of those sets had different effects depending on how they were played (Parallel City, Reverse Valley, and Chaos Tower).

As far as being a staple is concerned it varies from deck-to-deck (in some cases being an actual win condition for the deck) and even season-to-season, I still remember when running a 4-card playset of Tropical Beach was necessary for a good chunk of decks in Standard.
They wanted it to solely be a vehicle to get kids to play MTG later on. It's part of why WOTC lost the license to print in North America.
That and reprinting cards from older set in the form of Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection, something that Nintendo wasn't exactly happy with and would've done so again with Legendary Collection 2 if they still held onto the license.

As far as reprinting Modern cards is concerned it's something Creatures Inc. practiced sparingly (mostly due to the potential of a card lingering for too long in the Standard format) until the introduction of regulation marks.

Maybe I could even be a "Genwunner", when it comes to the TCG.
Hell yea, team TCG genwon represent

Earlier I said TCG may have only been good up to Gen 3 ("EX").

Maybe I could even be a "Genwunner", when it comes to the TCG.
Design wise, gen 1 cards are peak. I know, nostalgia, but there is so much love put into these cards. The artworks don't look like soulless ai art and the cards weren't just flashy, overpowered and high numbers.
Just basic stuff with style.

I love how we're talking about the TCG but not even bothering with the current insanity involving Costco's release of 151's Blooming Waters Premium Collection box or the dogshit Prismatic Evolutions is dealing with in general.
151 has been fucked and the only really worthwhile cards from it are the big Ed SAR charizard and maybe mew ex because of the ability. That set is only relevant because of the people chasing the Kanto starters and getting them graded, which is also dumb. Grading anything modern and worth less than $100 raw shouldn’t be allowed. All that said, this is just more reason to collect Japanese cards.
Scalpers have always existed, it's just becoming more and more blatant and pathetic as time goes on. Photographic/video evidence people are putting up of this helps with exposing others to it, but it's just a small taste of the stuff that goes on.
It doesn’t help that these people are retarded and just opt for anything they can get their hands on. People are already trying to scalp McDonald’s promo cards. I hope it gets crazy enough to make the news and people get to see these retards being retards.

I don’t miss when attacks that cost 3 energy for less than 40 damage and no payoff were commonplace, even if the art was nice. I loved the art for neo destinies, but the attacks were usually terrible up until fire red and leaf green.

I hate scalpers, because I like buying the empty tins for storage. It's like this, but Pokemon tins.

And lately, the tins have been super expensive because the overall price of cards has gone up, due to scalpers.

Didn't they make IV's farming obsolete with some sort of item?

My wife wanted to get an empty obsidian flames ETB box to put the bulk she’d pull that was already in her binder but these vantablack niggers are trying to sell them for like $30-$40. We’ve both been contemplating just dropping the hobby and sticking to the vidya because soon mega is coming back in the TCG and that was an ass gameplay mechanic.
