While it's not exactly omfg edgy or badass or anything, I wish we had more three-stage mammalian non-humanoid mons that could function as "cool" in a pinch. I would love to see this thing become a cross-evo someday, and I heard on /vp/ they probably swiped the "star" design for Luxray's mane, which seems sensible enough. But man, this thing explains Manectric a LOT now.

As a big fan of the Cyndaquil line, I now know the pain of people who like Vaporeon.

And at least the Vaporeon stuff ain’t canon.
I'm a fan of Incineroar, friend, and as a guy whose first instinct seeing him was "cool tiger that happens to be bipedal the same way Feraligatr is" I get the pain. I'm thankful he's had something of a redemption arc amongst the fandom, but the annoying memery is always there lurking.

Not much that Gamefreak does makes any sense. I guess what DPP/HGSS engine was capable just wasn't enough, remember that they wanted to re-create NYC in the game.
Or they're fucking insane and/or someone wants to get paid.

It's so strange seeing this in a different perspective other than top down. What's interesting to me though is that the character sprites change depending on the rotation of the camera, is there any point in b/w where that happens?

Going thru the front door crashes your game btw
HGSS were build off Diamond version, how do we know this? Well, that game has Lugia in the intro screen. Diamond version? Well...

BTW at that point in time, this was still a Diamond/Pearl romhack, so most of that game's content is still there. Good example would be Jubilife City, shown off in an earlier video. Earliest versions available still have Dawn/Lucas as protagonists.
PokeGear themes look rough at this point in development, it seems Lyra's default was developed later as she still uses Ethan's at this point in time.
Speaking of which, since she's here this early on, I guess this deboonks the theory that Krys was originally going to be in the game. That said, why are Krys' assets still in the final game, then?
Even they were doing their share of hacking rom lol.

Silver beta has the same color or jacket and pants even when the original silver had the same color scheme as the remake

I'm disappointed in you all. None of you did the obvious with that Riolu beta sprite.

Enjoy a transparent version as well.

I'm still going over the movepool changes and finer details, but I am not sure about the early Pokedex. It's surprising to see who got made and finalized first and who needed first or 3rd stage evolutions made. Some Pokemon were even on their way out as this build was made, with only their sprites and pokedex entries remaining and all the other info already replaced with one of the Pokemon from the final game. Unsurprisingly, all Gen 1-2 Pokemon started out with their movesets taken directly from Crystal and then edited as the time went on. There were also going to be far less returning Pokemon, looks like the focus was always on having the players try out the new ones.
Note that some of those images were actually used as a reference for the Anime. The blue upright water Pokemon(called "Puruun" in-game) is actually based off a cut Spaceworld Pokemon. I would know, when I played SuperGold97 I choose that line as my starter.

What's interesting to me though is that the character sprites change depending on the rotation of the camera, is there any point in b/w where that happens?
Yes, in places where Game Freak decided to get fancy and added a rotating camera. Castelia City's entrance, the Battle Subway and Celestial Tower have NPCs that do this.

Fun bug featuring pokemon Center heaven, skipping past the load stuff makes this happen.

For anyone interested, X+R opens a debug menu in game for b/w main_9792 (October 2009).

L+SELECT opens this strange menu.

Reading thru the RS prototype movesets, the changes are mostly just new moves that weren't around as of Crystal. Still, there were some confusing omissions, such as Mr. Mime not learning Psychic or a whole bunch of physical Pokemon not having Double Edge. I will chalk that up to the awful moveset variation of the first two gens.
Surprisingly, Unknowns each had their movesets borrowed from different Pokemon, such as Krabby or Hypno. It's probably just laziness on their parts, but I do want to think that there was a point in time where each letter form would have some sort of use, rather than all of them being equally useless.

Do you think this early blaziken could learn fly, then they changed the design and had to remove it?

This file has some ideas for Poketch apps in DP and some of them are interesting:
>Pictocatch (Draw pictures with your own movements) - The trajectory of walking on the field becomes a picture. It can be sent to others by communication.
>Dungeon Map - Perform dungeon auto-mapping. Since Pokemon dungeon structures are simple, should we prepare a dedicated one?
>Town radio (teletext) - A region-limited broadcast that can only be heard in that town. In addition, if there is a passing communication, temporary news will be broadcast.
>Automatic haiku generator - A function that automatically generates haiku using simple conversation.
>Start Menu - Start menu appears on touch screen
>GB emulator - allows you to play Pokemon Red and Green.

Of course this wouldn't happen, would Nintendo allow you to play free games instead of charging you?

There are only two working areas here and they both lead to a crash.

Camera pan.

My thoughts on Gen 3 Pokemon moveset changes:
*Sceptile line was originally supposed to main Giga Drain at higher levels, it seems Leaf Blade was added specifically to help it out. Remember, all grass moves were special back then. Speaking of which, the other semi-signature moves for starters like Muddy Water and Blaze Kick were also not present early on.
*It seems as Blaziken line might have been a more straightforward fire Pokemon, as many physical moves were not included until later. Used to learn Drill Peck, which it can't in the final release.
*Poochyena learned Leer instead of Howl, also learned Screech and Snatch which it can't in the final and learns Thief much earlier. Looks like it was going to be a more technical fighter at first, Migthyena's moveset dummied out at this point in development
*Zigzagoon similarly learned Double Edge instead of Belly Drum, showing that it was originally the aggressive Pokemon(it's original dex entry states as much, with Poochyena being a more cunning hunter). Used to learn Faint Attack, which would have been really useful with special/physical split games. Linoone similarly missing, just like Mightyena
*Lotad only learns Flail, which is an egg move. Much like Magikarp, it might have been a useless Pokemon that was meant to be leveled until evolution. Weird, since it appears Lombre was a completely different and unrelated Pokemon at this point in time and Ludicolo didn't exist.
*Lombre's movesets completely different from final, however it keeps Flail at level 1. I guess it was merged into one evolutionary line at that point after all. Looks really generic, just grass/water attacking moves. Prefer the retail build.
*Seedot only learns Bide. Just like with Lotad, Nuzleaf also learns that move at level 1. Moveset is completely different, looks like it would have focused more on it's dark side rather than it's grass one. Would have been interesting to see a moveset like this in action, looks more physically dependent.
*Ninjask largely the same, however it does know Swift which it wouldn't be able to learn until Emerald. Only different Shedinja has is that it learns Destiny Bond, which it can't in the final(now that would have been busted!)
*Shroomish line largely the same. Dex entry for Breloom mentions Poison Powder by name and it would have indeed learned just that. Not the case in the final, also it looks like Sky Uppercut was added at some point to bolster it's physical movepool.
*Spinda learns Petal Dance over Teeter Dance for some reason and lacks Thrash. Both are horrible decisions, Petal Dance is useless on this Pokemon and Teeter Dance/ a powerful normal STAB attack is one of the few good things it has going for it.
*Wingull was added later on and the movepool here is very rough and early, not least of which in that it learns everything at level 1. Only noticeable difference is that it would have learned Whirlwind. Pelipper knows Bubble Beam instead of Hydro Pump for some reason, making it's water typing even more of a liability in the final game without being able to use it offensively.
*Despite being one of the first new Pokemon to be made, moveset is still very early and it also learns everything at level 1. Wailord did not exist at this point. Same goes for Kecleon.
*Baltoy line lacks Cosmic Power and Rock Tomb, suggesting those moves were a later addition.
*Sableye lacks Fake Out and Confuse Ray, making it much less useful than in the final game.
*Sharpedo very early and learns everything at level 1. Carvanha doesn't exist at this point, confirming my hypothesis that it was a shoe-horned pre evo.
*Trapinch also learns only a few moves all at level 1, Vibrava and Flygon do not exist
*Makuhita line lacks some of it's more distinctive moves, like SmellingSalts/Arm Thrust/Fake Out and has Double Edge instead, a move it cannot learn in the final game. Another Pokemon that was originally much more generic, glad they changed it.
*Spheal was just started, as it has very few moves and they are all learned at a very low level. Lacks most of it's moveset, including Ice Ball and Sheer Cold. Sealo and Walrein do not exist yet.
*Swablu line had a very different moveset, including moves it can't learn like Haze, Mirror Move and Drill Peck.
*Duskull line lacks Will-o-Wisp but has gained Faint Attack. What a disaster, nobody uses this Pokemon as an attacker, and even then there was an evolution just a generation later that did this much better.
*Roselia lacks moves that make it stand out, like Magical Leaf/Aromatheraphy/Grasswhistle. Would have been yet another generic grass/poison type if it released like this, or at least even more so.
*Relicanth learns Flail, which it can normally only learn from Gen 7 onwards. It lacked Yawn and Rock Tomb, making these rather late additions to the game as this is now a pattern.
*Volbeat would have learned Hyper Beam and Illumise would have learned Petal Dance, neither Pokemon can learn these moves in the retail game. Interestingly enough, not only was Helping Hand a late addition despite double battles being planned early on, it seems so was Tail Glow and Signal Beam for Volbeat. Late enough that nobody tested them, remember all bug type moves are PHYSICAL this generation and Tail Glow adds +3 SPECIAL ATTACK. No wonder that a gen 3 entry for this Pokemon remained empty on Smogon until only a few years ago.
*Latis once again learn only a few moves all at level 1. Of note is that they both learn Confuse Ray, something they can't normally do.
I am having a blast reading thru all of this, takes me back to the Spaceworld leak when I was theorizing about how GS would have played out in it's original form. Hopefully, we will get a romhack that lets us experience the original vision, just like Spaceworld had SuperGold97.

Typhlosion pretends to be a human male. He then takes women to his lair, grooms them and impregnates them.
Typhlosion has an ancient regional form, so the implication here is that the regular Typhlosion from the rest of the games are the children the ancient ones had with human women, halfbreeds if you will.

I've already read a pasta on /vp/ where Rei gets to witness Akari get Typhlosion'ed, it's pretty much canon now
No wonder hisui typhlosion always looks high like he's on vacation in thailand while halfbreed johto typhlosion is a virgin filled with rage.

Yeah furry jokes aside those kinda sound like folktales and folklore. It tracks with a lot of weird shinto stuff about spirits and the like. It really isn't that weird in that context but the decades of poképorn and furries causes the memes to write themselves.
Don't the yokai storys also involve kinky stuff?
