I would just like to say that getting a Poke'mon to evolve through friendship is proving to be a tedious pain in my side. A Soothe Bell and daily visits to that Loma Loma lady or whatever it's called in Konikoni City are not helping with getting these buggers to evolve.

Just let me fill my dex and have my Silvally, damnit (:_(

You can also feed it masaladas from the shop and/or stuff from the Friendship Café in Festival Plaza. Still takes time tho.

There is a poke pelago island that raises happiness(and hatches eggs), I upgraded mine to the max and then let my Type: Null sit there long enough to evolve at level 41

I had it sit in there for almost two days and they still aren't evolving for me. Maybe I'm just way too impatient or my Null got some extra edge rubbed off on them from Gladion because it does not feel like being friends with me.

I honestly forgot about the Malasada things. I'll have to see what kind my Null likes so I can give em the right ones since I think they said in-game that the taste of the Malasada does correlate with the Poke'mons nature, kinda like Poke'Blocks did in previous generations.

They do, and they appear to be the same as they were in Gen 3.
Spicy: Lonely, Adamant, Naughty, Brave
Sour: Impish, Lax, Relaxed, Bold
Dry: Modest, Rash, Mild, Quiet
Bitter: Sassy, Calm, Gentle, Careful
Sweet: Timid, Hasty, Jolly, Naive
No favorites: Bashful, Hardy, Docile, Quirky, Serious

Yeah and mine is Docile, so he could have eaten anything. But the very moment I posted my little bitchfit on her about it, he evolved. But the info is good for when I need to evolve Alolan Meowth and my Eevees.

I finished the third trial this morning; it was a bit easier than I had anticipated. I'll probably play a bit more at some point before bed.

I've finally narrowed down my choice for a final team member to fifteen. Out of those, I'm strongly considering Silvally, Persian, Comfey, Kommo-o, Umbreon, and Sylveon.

Poke Pelago has a berry raising Island that should be able to help you out. I was having the same issues until I just planted a whole field of those EV reducing, happiness raising berries. The next day I jammed 50 of them down Type: Null's throat. Pretty useful in addition to the hot spring Island.

Silvally isn't obtainable until post-game unless you trade with someone if you're talking about a team to hit the league with. Persian would be easy to come by since you can get Meowth in the grass in town on the first island. Kommo-o would be difficult since you can't get Jangmo-o until the last island unless you trade with someone. Comfey is in Lush Jungle which is where the 4th trial takes place. And if you get the egg from the daycare place, it hatches into an Eevee so you can easily get an Umbreon or Sylveon earlier on.

Welp, I just got 3 Bottle Caps in the last 10 minutes. I really hope the Treasure Hunt exploit isn't patched...

M'looking for a feebas. It's like RSE all over again.

Bottle cap exploit?

Yep. Go to Festival Plaza, get a Rank 2 Treasure Hunt store, enter the lottery, replace it with another store, then purchase it again. Doing so nullifies the cooldown period and lets you get Bottle Caps or Max Elixirs until you run out of points.

Ah.

I figured you could do that, but my stockpile of points isn't such I could do that a lot.

Do I just get the store from a random plaza person, and is it worth doing with the rare candy lotto?

Yes and yes. May wanna set the person with Treasure Hunt 2 as a VIP so you can page them.

I completed the Alolan dex today (I have almost everything to make a living dex except for Cosmog, Type: Null & Porygon2 which I'm not particularly worried about getting my hands on right now).

I've been doing SOS chaining on and off while I worked on that and it took me about two days to get a shiny Cutiefly without shiny charm, and then I managed to run into a random encounter shiny Slowpoke while gathering up extra mons for the living dex (shiny Slowking now).

after I got the shiny charm today I ran to see if maybe I'd have more luck chaining for a shiny Rockruff and got one on the 7th call, then went for Alolan Vulpix and got one at a little less than 60... but it was male, so I caught it but then tried chaining again for a female. I've been mindlessly chaining for about 5-6 hours now (counting the chain with the first Vulpix) and now I think I've officially used up all my luck. as I was typing this the only Vulpix on the field used Struggle and killed itself so I'm calling it quits for the night.

still, having 4 shinies in less than two weeks after launch is pretty insane to me. wish there was some spreadsheet somewhere of someone collecting data on shiny rates like there was for DexNav so I could contribute, but I haven't seen one.

I just randomly fished up a shiny Magikarp while fishing for Mareanie to breed. Decided to name it Tamatoa because I saw Moana recently.

I finished the fourth trial awhile ago. It's the first thing I've had to reset on in quite some time--possibly years--because the first time, that stupid Totem Lurantis called a Castform, which used Sunny Day and enabled the two of them to murder me horribly.
