Man, the Tapus are such a PITA to catch.

I had Tapu Lele at minimum HP, got the battle to drag on for like twenty minutes then pelted the fucker with twenty-five fucking Timer Balls, and... nada.

Nooo, instead the son of a bitch ended up running out of moves, using Struggle and knocking itself out.

Fucky you, guardian deity of my arse.
I'm taking the time to just grind out tons of synchronize Abbra before going after the legendaries. They're already enough of a pain without having to reset for natures.

So far, I've got Adamant, Jolly and Timid ones, so people can feel free to PM me for any of my extras.

I've actually been breeding for them, and managed to get all but Hasty. So at some point, I'll list the spares I've gotten so far.

I don't particularly care about getting natures tbh, I'm just playing to fill my 'dex.

If I can get a good nature for my most-used battling pokes (like Gengar) I'm happy enough with it, but I can't be arsed to go through breeding Abras and resetting and shit on legendaries I'm probably not going to use. (The only legendaries I ever used regularly in battle were Yveltal and Zygarde).
Different strokes, I guess.

I've spent need a decent fire type, and I've spent most of the game getting WRECKED by fairies and dark types! :'(

How?

You can get Magnemite (Steel-type) early on, and there's plenty of Poison types available around Alola, both of which will wreck fairies.
And there's a ton of fighting-type 'mon you can get that'll get rid of dark types. Makuhita can be found at the beginning if the game. Not to mention fairy types like Mimikyu, Sylveon or especially Cutiefly/Ribombee, whose type combination makes it very good against Dark.

On a side note I'll probably start breeding Litwicks soon, hmu if you want one since they seem pretty hard to find.

How do I catch a Growlithe with Justified? I've spent need a decent fire type, and I've spent most of the game getting WRECKED by fairies and dark types! :'(

Due to Poke'mon Bank not being available for Sun and Moon until January, you can't get Growlithe's hidden ability just yet. You can't find them with the ability in the wild, and the ability capsule things they had in ORAS aren't in the game, at least not as of right now.

If you're struggling with Fairy and Dark type Poke'mon, I'd suggest getting a Magnemite, Salandit, or Alolan Grimer. They do well against both of those types, and Alolan Grimer/Muk will have enough bulk to take on hits and dish out some damage. Salandit is more of a Special Attacking glass canon.

Actually you can get Justified Growlithe via SOS battles, and additonally Ability Capsule is purchasable in the Battle Royale BP Shop for 100 BP, half as much as it costed in Gen VI. And Ability Capsule can't toggle on/off Hidden Abilities, it only works with a Pokemon's normal ones.

Really? Well, hush my mouth, I didn't think you could get Hidden Abilities just yet in Sun and Moon. I also haven't done anything at the Battle Royale so there's no wonder I didn't know it was there.

...what's an SOS battle? ;__;
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/SOS_Battle

Equiping your first Pokemon with Adrenaline Orb will increase the chances of it happening. Just keep killing summoned Growlithe until one has Justified, which you'll have to check by using an attack like Entraiment, Skill Swap, Role Play, and Worry Seed on it.

SOS battle chaining(and a few ingame trades) are the only source of Hidden Abilities this gen. Among the new Pokemon(Including Alola forms), the ones with currently unobtainable hidden abilities are the Starters(not found in Wild), Oranguru/Passimian(They do not summon others of their kind), and the Tapus(like other legends with HAs, most likely a future event)

I stayed up late playing Moon last night, and I almost slept in too late to make it to an appointment. *sigh*

Also, I did finally encounter the framerate issues after the first trial; still, it's nowhere near as bad as the demo's issues were.

I'm currently on the second island, and I just fought Hau again. I can say with all honesty that I get why so many people online despise him. Still, at least he has a personality, unlike Serena/Callum in X and Y.

As of right now, my team consists of Dartrix, Slowpoke, and Growlithe (all of which are permanent members), as well as Grubbin and Mudbray (both of which may become permanent members; Mudbray is much more likely to stay, as I'm concerned by how long it will potentially take to evolve Charjabug, not to mention that this would make half of my party have a base speed of less than 50). Gastly rounds everything out so that I can avoid Normal damage and so I don't have to wait a turn to put things to sleep with Yawn.

Today I got 3 shiny Pokemon added to my horde of them I've been collecting since Gen III. Dhelmise, Mimikyu, and Midday Lycanrock. Got them all via a very fast-paced series of trades on GTS to grab them before anyone else could.

Do you have any tips on how to find shiny Pokemon on the GTS, or is it basically just luck?

First thing is to gather as many copies of highly sought after Pokemon as possible. On top of legends and ultra beasts, most item and happiness-based evolutions, especially Weavile, and a few others like Mareanie, Dhelmise, and Vikavolt, are often wanted. One you get started dig around for a shiny, and look at what they want for it. At this point a lot of luck is involved. If you don't have what they're asking for right away, putting a highly sought-after Pokemon on GTS asking for what they want for the shiny is a fast-ish way to do it. Otherwise you'll have to start a long chain of GTS trades to eventually get what you want, and hopefully get the Shiny before someone else does. Mikikyu for example wanted a level 91+ Smeargle, and I found one for a Salamence, and I found a Salamence for a Weavile I got previously. I rapidly did all the trades and snatched the Mimikyu

Anyone got a snow-warning Vulpix?

It's version specific, so I can't grab one...

Heads up, Grubbin can't evolve to it's final evolution until a certain area on the last island. It is pretty badass though.

My current and most like permanent team for the remainder of the game is Incineroar, Mimikyu(nicknamed Pikaboo), Ribombee, Aloan Marowak, Toxapex, and Lurantis.

Yeah, I know. That, coupled with its low speed, was why I was hesitant to use it. I think I'm going to end up keeping it, but we'll see how I feel once I get to the third island and I have at least three Pokemon that either still haven't evolved or haven't learned the moves they need to know before evolving.

The Evolite you get on the second island will increase its bulk significantly. It's defense is higher than Vikavolts even without it, and their special defense is the same, so it's a pretty good item for it. Allowed me to carry it throughout the whole game with little trouble. I used Wild Charge/X-Scissor/Crunch/Dig until it evolved, since it has higher attack than Vikavolt but much much lower special attack. I think it's stats were allocated in such a way so there would be an incentive to not evolve it so one could use it and its Battery ability in competitive double battles.

Just beat the main story.

I think I prefer the Professor without the sunglasses. Also pretty cool you actually get to fight a Pokémon Professer in this Gen. And it's a cool feeling being the "first ever Champion" of a region. Kinda makes it feel a bit more special.

I foot luck and managed to catch Tapu Koko in an Ultra Ball before he used all his moves(my Aloan Marowak's Ability was Lightening Rod, so it had no way to KO me). Not sure how the island residents are going to react to me capturing their guardian deity...

I was actually pretty sad to see Lillie go. She was a pretty interesting character. Though I suppose "gone off to Kanto to cure her mom" is better than "was actually an Ultra Beast in disguise and didn't know it" which a lot of people were speculating.

That's probably a callback to an unused concept way back in Gen I. From the article I linked:

In the Generation I games, there is unused Trainer data for Prof. Oak. This implies that it was originally going to be possible to battle him.

Oak normally has a level 66 Tauros, a level 67 Exeggutor, a level 68 Arcanine, a level 70 Gyarados, and one of the Kanto starter Pokémon at level 69. This places his strength on-par with Blue, who is the Pokémon Champion and grandson of Professor Oak. Additionally, four of his Pokémon are identical to the ones used by Blue, but are at higher levels, so originally Oak may have been intended to be in the game as the Champion, or at least another high-ranking Trainer, possibly in the same manner as Red in Generation II. This is supported by an email on the PC in Professor Oak's Laboratory, from the Indigo League issuing a challenge to all Trainers and specifically requesting Oak to come visit them.

Basically, Professor Oak was originally going to be both the person who starts you on your journey and the person who is the ultimate test of your strength at the end of it.

Someone modded Lillie and Cosmog into Smash Bros(basically a resin of Rosalina. It's actually some pretty good work.
