Was messing around with tms, saw that Decidueye doesn't learn fly. Went online to see if it was real and yep it is. (pic i found online)

A giant sniper owl can't fly but a two headed dodo can.

Reminds me that the only two Bug types that can learn Fly aren't even part Flying(Volcarona and Genesect), even though Flying is one of the most common types paired with Bug.

Not to mention Yanmega, a 2 meters tall/long dragonfly whose pokedex description clearly states that "is easily capable of transporting an adult".

The worst part is that Ash will probably evolve his Rowlet (that can't learn fly ingame either) and fly with him all the time, as if mocking me.

Its pre-evolutions are part-Flying type, but it loses its Flying typing in favour of Ghost. Not a bad tradeoff, if you ask me.

I personally don't regret trading my Incineroar for a Decidueye.

My favourite starter allover remains Empoleon, but God knows when it'll become available in Gen VII. (:_(

January.

Still bummed I have to wait that long to bring over my shiny Adamant Technician Scizor I got back in gen 4. And my Absol with Play Rough and Superpower.

I have about 70-80 Shiny Pokemon and numerous event Pokemon from as far back as Gen III to transfer to Gen VII in January, as well as a competitively trained version of every Gen I-VI fully evolved Pokemon(and some not-fully evolved like Pikachu, Porygon 2, ect.).

I've been getting a crapton of Shards in poke pelago to get as many bottlecaps as possible to boost my Pokemon that had a specific IV spread for Hidden Power or event Pokemon that are hard or impossible to soft reset for, like my Bold Wish Chansey(obtained as a non-resettable egg in Gen III, only available via the Pokemon Center in New York, and one of the best moves Chansey or Blissey can possibly have to due to how Wish was changed in gen V onwards to heal half of the wish-users HP instead of the wish target's HP, making it fully heal most Pokemon since they both have the highest HP stats in the game).

Is there any way to get a lot at once? Because my haul is always pretty meager.

Not really, but I've been saving the rainbow beans for that island in particular to shorten the time it takes. January is a a ways away so I have plenty of time to get a bunch

EDIT: It also just might be me, but it feels like I've gotten more stuff as I upgraded the island, might just be a coincidence though.

So I just realised, Alolan Meowth is a special attacker now. Yet its moveset is the same except one special move learnt at level 55 and a tiny smattering of TMs. Nintendo why?? :'(

Dude that chansey is so hard to get legally I'm jealous as fuck
I have a wish blissey but I doubt it's legal for tournament/competitive play so it just rots in my box

I have a bunch of shiny flawless pokemon I'm gonna haul over to sun and moon when I get the games. I hope they scratch the "Kalos Born Only" rule from official tournament play, because I'd love to take some of my older 'mons into official competitions again.

I got it from a trade back in 4th gen from a bloke actually from NYC. Got a few other Wish events but they either have bad natures or are now useless with the move due to the 5th Gen mechanics changes and thus never transferred(like Farfetch'd). I admit I had to pull a lot of strings to get the Chansey, which unfortunately was slightly touched beforehand but in 6th gen I was able to reset its EVs with the XY drink shop.

My cousin accidentally traded his Adamant Heracross that I was helping him breed on Wonder Trade and got a Heracross that knows Rock Blast... We were both a little shocked.

I took a break before the first trial. So far, my permanent teams members are Dartix and Slowpoke, and I've currently also got Magnemite, Gastly, Cutiefly, and Crabrawler. I'm definitely going to catch a Growlithe before I give it a go, and I might backtrack to get a Grubbin, both of which might end up being permanent party members.

The only real team building concern I have so far in this playthrough is how slow so many things that I want to use are. With one of the potential teams I put together, the average base speed was in the 60s. :\

That aside, I'e enjoyed the game so far. It starts slow, and it holds your hand a bit more than I'd like, but I'm already enjoying the story more than X and Y's.

The framerate issues from the demo don't seem to have carried over, but I haven't participated in anything other than standard battles so far. Also, some of the battle menu options are way too small for my fingers, so I guess I'm back to using the D-pad if I want to use an item.

Eh, it's like a 5 BST difference. As long as you have a decent nature or EV train it for what you want, I don't think it matters. Personally, I'd go with a physical set if it has Technician, and a special set if it has Pickup, but that's just me.

Never mind, it's a 15 BST difference, and it's still kind of low. I kind of wish that its defense had been boosted instead. Still, at least for use in-game, it's not terrible. Slap Thunderbolt/Dark Pulse/Nasty Plot/maybe Power Gem on it and it could do some damage.

I've exhuasted all the game's content and even though it could use some more post-game, I think this is probably the best mainline Pokemon game ever made. Its got such a meaty campaign and probably has some of the best level scaling in Pokemon. You won't be underpowered, but you'll never be overpowered either. By endgame you'll be facing level 50 Pokemon using a team of level 50s. Its wonderful.
My final party wound up being:
  • Primarina (Lv 67)
  • Alolan Ninetales (Lv 61)
  • Butterfree (Lv 60)
  • Alakazam (Lv 59)
  • Lycanroc (Lv 64)
  • Flareon (Lv 65)
I do wish trainers had more than one or two Pokemon more often though. Too many trainers felt like they were just in the way since you could wipe out their one Pokemon fairly easily.

I'm just feeling it particularly hard since I'm still early-game (my team is just hitting level 20) and I don't have access to TMs or high enough level to teach my Meowth that stuff yet. I just noticed because she was particularly shitty in battles and then I noticed she had 19 attack and 34 special attack. She evolved last night and learnt swift so it's taking the sting off a bit. I definitely have to get some special moves on her as soon as possible though, her stats are 32 attack and 45 special now. She's quirky natured so idk what's causing such a big rift, her IVs probably

The Hidden Power TM is obtained relatively early on the second island, so even if it's a crap type it's still better than just having Swift as a special move, especially if your Persian has Technician. Down the road Power Gem, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Shadow Ball, Snarl, and Dark Pulse can be used. Shadow Ball might seem useless on a Dark type since they have redundant coverage, but since the TM for it is obtained a lot earlier than Snarl or Dark Pulse, it's decent to have until then.

Man, the Tapus are such a PITA to catch.

I had Tapu Lele at minimum HP, got the battle to drag on for like twenty minutes then pelted the fucker with twenty-five fucking Timer Balls, and... nada.

Nooo, instead the son of a bitch ended up running out of moves, using Struggle and knocking itself out.

Fucky you, guardian deity of my arse.

How do I catch a Growlithe with Justified? I've spent need a decent fire type, and I've spent most of the game getting WRECKED by fairies and dark types! :'(
