No, we need to consider this in the terms of how Game Freak thinks....

No idea on the gimmick.
Changing abilities maybe or fusing with your held item to open the item slot up for a second item or just two item slots. I get the impression after tera types they might stick with this gimmick type that can fundamentally change a core mechanic in a way that is unexpected.

I'm imaging something like equipping a wide lens to boost accuracy then equip life orb to boost damage or life orb and leftovers, etc.

Just a guess.

What I'm curious about is what new way of making Pokémon variants we'll get next. In order we got Mega Evolutions, Regional Variants, Gigantamax, and Paradox Pokémon. Seems like they're determined to make this stick, so I'm sure it'll happen for the upcoming generation too.

I hope they introduce more convergent evolutions. That way fans don't need to worry about their faves being usurped by a regional variant while GF can get lazy save some resources on monster designs. Although their stats should be more thought through tho (I'm looking at you Wugtrio)

They get the move Magnet Rise. The real puzzle is why Dustox, the moth Pokemon with wings that is perpetually in the air, is affected by ground moves.
At least in the Mystery Dungeon series, all the float-y and not Ghost-type pocketmons get a float terrain ability.

So is there some special secret trick to getting through that "failed to authenticate" error message in Pokemon GO, or am I just completely fucked?

I'm using the trainer club login method, and it was working perfectly for an entire year until just recently when it decided to just not load, kick me off, and now i can't log back in again. Even after going through their suggested fixes (clear cache, clear data, uninstall/reboot/reinstall/etc...), and e-mailing support (which was a waste btw, they just copied/pasted the same shit on their website), it still won't log me back in.

I'd rather have Bug/Poison defensively than Bug/Flying.
I'm surprised we don't even have that many Bug/Poison Pokemon. Last we got was Scolipede from Gen 5, and out of the narrow roster only Dustox could be considered a defensive Pokemon. Let's hope we get something in the next game.
Lugia should be retconned to a water/flying type. The wyvern creates tsunamis and hurricanes. He's not Mewtwo.
I don't care how broken it would be, but Water/Dragon Lugia with Multiscale would be a fucking beast.
