Changing abilities maybe or fusing with your held item to open the item slot up for a second item or just two item slots. I get the impression after tera types they might stick with this gimmick type that can fundamentally change a core mechanic in a way that is unexpected.

I'm not too surprised with the underleveled Dragonite in the first generation since basically half of the game was coded wrong or made no sense, but pulling that shit five generations in still baffles me.
If Hydreigon was at level 54 for the player it would still be an incredibly late evolution.
54 would be comparable to other pseudo legendaries, though.
They get the move Magnet Rise. The real puzzle is why Dustox, the moth Pokemon with wings that is perpetually in the air, is affected by ground moves.
At least in the Mystery Dungeon series, all the float-y and not Ghost-type pocketmons get a float terrain ability.
Meanwhile Lugia, the guardian of the seas, is Flying because it has hand wings and Psychic because it used to be a strong type in Gen 1.
Bellsprout has a higher ATK base stat than Onix and Purugly is faster than Latios and Latias.

I'm surprised we don't even have that many Bug/Poison Pokemon. Last we got was Scolipede from Gen 5, and out of the narrow roster only Dustox could be considered a defensive Pokemon. Let's hope we get something in the next game.
I don't care how broken it would be, but Water/Dragon Lugia with Multiscale would be a fucking beast.
