Only for people trading away Gouging Fire AFAIK, I’ve seen two blatant hacks (caught in a Cherish Ball) asking for impossible trades (one asking for a Paldean Wooper than can travel to SWSH, the other asking for a Galarian Meowth that can travel to LGPE) and one that may as well be hacked due to the request being the same as that first hacked GF.

As to what they look like in-game, here’s the pizza, it’s basically a deep-dish sausage pizza.

As for Pokèmon killers, the franchise is carried by the attachment you form to your vidya monsters. The games and shows themselves are all about the power of friendship between the main characters and their Pokèmon. All the way back since Red and Blue, you were told your rival lost the Champion title to you because you have a stronger bond with your Pokèmon than he does. After all you're the one who spent that time raising and battling with those Pokèmon and now you've beaten the game.

If a competing game can't recreate that feeling, it's got no chance killing the series.

And it simply won’t ever kill it unless it pops off to the degree Pokemon did. Otherwise eventually the audiance will outgrow the games or the wider brand won’t make enough money to maintain itself. Because they won’t put the money into slapping the brand on everything.

Problem is that it will take several games and years of successful community growth in order to get to that point, hard to drop 30 years of Pokemon to then put your trust and time/energy into this new upstart

At this point most of what I’m seeing is just people calling it shovelware with an advertising budget. There’s the obligatory digs at Game Freak, but I feel the hype is dying off pretty quickly now that we’re past release.

Honestly looking at some of the designs, I’d believe AI was used for the ones that weren’t blatant rips.

Good news is that Gamefreak didn't know what the hell they were doing either, they were incompetent and untalented from the start. They simply had the good fortune to know the right people(Nintendo) who were actually smart enough to capitalize on the Pokemon craze. I doubt Pokemon would even release gen 2 as we know it, if at all, without Nintendo's help.
This gives me hope that somebody out there with a lot more talent than current Gamefreak can make a better refinement of the formula

Well, if we’re talking about misplaced Hopium - I’ve got just enough of that left in the tank with Game Freak that I’m willing to give them one last chance with Gen 10.

It’s both a milestone, and an argument could be made that Gen 10 will be the first without Masuda’s direct involvement. There were just enough signs in Gen 9 and its DLC that someone at GF still gives a shit, that I’m willing to give one, final chance.

Because unfortunately, as every Pokeclone has shown us - no one has been able to replicate the formula, and even the ones you might feel have come close have failed to catch that lightning in a bottle.

The majority of "backlash" looks fake. Its trannys mad that people like the game. The few minor gripes about AI are coming from artists afraid AI will replace them. The rest is literally the same people who tried to cancel Hogwarts Legacy trying to cancel this game.

I think the issue with "beating" Pokemon is that even if you make a superior game, GF will not give a shit because at this point the main games are just vessels to introduce more characters for more merch, which is where the real margins are. Unless GF pulls a Disney and starts tanking their reputation with DEI shit, I don't see Pokemon being dethroned by any other franchise.

Whoever decided to make the Unknown Dex in the way that they did was very silly.

I honestly like the fact that Kanto had terrible levels. It’s kind of just nice to walk through everything my only issue was Mount Silver’s levels being too low but most importantly having no good Pokemon in it.

Now to play Emerald for the first time and dust off my copy of XD - which while better than Colo, it took away the style and the flare it had so much. Game should have giving us 2 Eevee and a sidekick cause that Scouter was not built for one person.

Are we just going to pretend that romhacks don't exist? I think there is plenty of talented modders in the Pokemon ROMhack community that could make something decent, even if they had to start from scratch and build their own foundation. Certainly more talented than whoever is working at GF
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Gen 9 IS the first generation without Masuda at the helm. His last game was Let's Go and a little bit of involvement with SwSh, SV and onwards was done entirely without him. Look I’ll be honest, I’ve seen enough romhacks fall into the trap of “give it a dark and edgey storyline and an absurd difficulty curve” that I’ll admit to ignoring most romhacks. It was cool the first time, it got less cool every other time after that.

At least Infinite Fusion just sticks to its gimmick.

I traded with a bot last week that was able to input my trainer name and id in the correct fields on the fly based solely on trading one of my Mons to it. All of them have the capability of passing every one the Pokémon companies fake Mon checks now.

That's honestly kind of sad but I kind of stopped giving a shit after Surprise Trade became filled with the same stuff, I'm just doing it to fill the Dex anyways. As long as it doesn't get me banned from online services and meets the usual IV/learnset limits and there's no erroneous/junk data then it's okay in my book.

Sadly Iron Valiant isn't good trade bait for the DLC Past Paradox 'mons, I've had two Shiny Iron Valiants up on the GTS that have gone by unnoticed for two days.

That's not to say Violet's Paradox 'mons are complete shit though, Iron Bundle is one of the better glass cannons introduced in SV and Iron Hands is bulky as shit in terms of HP and Defense (combine that with a Belly Drum+Quark Drive-boosted Drain Punch and you'll see why you it's in Tera Raids so often).

The big issue with Iron Valiant is that it has great Attack/Special Attack stats but terrible Special Defense and a middling HP stat, it's Speed is okay but it needs a +1 to do well.

The Pokémon attack force continues. Almost everyone speaking against the game turns out to be a giant Nintendo fanboy with 800+ hours in the game, an artist making nsfw Pokémon art, or in this case an etsy artist selling bootleg Pokémon merchandize while calling the game a bootleg of Pokémon.
