So, finally got around to clearing Indigo Disk - again, if I’d paid for these DLC’s I’d probably be much more annoyed at them - and my biggest issue that isn’t the technical issues plaguing this game (I’m morbidly curious how much tape is holding this game together at this point) is that the Story just feels incredibly tacked on. Forgive me for rambling on here.

I liked that the Trainer Battles could actually be a Challenge - after steam rolling so much of the game with my Skeledirge, seeing him get 1-Tapped a few times was actually exciting - but it feels like they had the concept for the Terrarium and just taped some scrapped Gyms to it. And oh wait, we need to go back to the Endgame of the Base Game, turns out there’s more down there! I’ll admit that the Environment in the new part of Area Zero has one cool looking set piece, but there’s exactly one reason to ever go back there and it’s the hidden room full of Tera Shards.

Also, fun fact - not only does Kieran have dialogue for you sending out Ogerpon, turns out his AI is programmed specifically to target Ogerpon. Its shit like that that makes me want to have some form of hope that at least SOMEONE at Game Freak gives a shit that they put in details like that.

And finally, because Tera Types are probably being abandoned after this Generation - anyone have thoughts on the Stellar type?

Is the Blueberry Elite Four supposed to be a replacement/apology of the one-time-only Paldean Elite Four?
I liked the school tournament as a rematch event because i liked the random challenger at the end when you do rematches in Sun and Moon, for the added variety, but leaving the e4 out of it was an odd choice (besides the one who's also a teacher).

A few new event codes are now available.

G0TCHAP0KEM0N - 30 Quick Balls
SUPEREFFECT1VE - 1 Expert Beld
WEARTERASTALCAP - a baseball cap with the Terastal logo on it

You can also get 10 copies of TM 223 (containing Metal Sound) if you use the “Check via Internet” option on the Mystery Gift page. This “event” will be active until mid-January when a patch will fix an issue that causes TM 223 to be uncraftable in Scarlet due to one of the required TM materials being found on a Violet-exclusive Pokémon.

I built a specific team for the Indigo Disk since my main story team got too strong after dicking around with the Let’s Go feature but even with that in mind I still found myself losing a Pokémon or two during battles.

And I agree about Area Zero’s Underdepths being pointless once you complete the story segment and the hidden post-story room, it would’ve been nice to have other Pokémon (besides Glimmet, Glimmora, and Carbink) spawn down there with a few of ‘em being catchable wild Stellar Tera Type Pokémon.

It’s a really niche Tera Type that probably won’t see use outside of being seen on Terapagos due to the one-time 1.2 boost and keeping the Pokémon’s original typing as far as defense is concerned. I’ve heard that Rillaboom and Porygon-Z may be good users for it but I’m not too sure.

Honestly about the boat I was in regarding it - it might see some niche use on Pokemon with Contrary, but there's significantly better moves those Pokemon have access to.

It feels like they had a neat idea on paper, but then they made it too balanced.

So replaying XY for Living Dex

…and Lysandre being a dude that invented our main method of communication and is stupidly philanthropic to try and help the world but decides to depopulate the world due to everything he does not being good enough and concern over the world’s lack of resources was a decade before it’s time.

And then he tries to control his weapon with some vr level tech.

So YT had this video stumble into my feed

And they brought up the online features and all I could think was ‘no wonder GF don’t put ‘effort’ in anymore.

The games had so much content that no one ever played or cared about and the only reason they know of it is a YT playthrough years later, long after it is dead.

‘Fans’ keep claiming they want stuff or liked stuff and then never actually use it.

Yeah, it’s been known for years that gen V succumbing to the Zelda Pokémon cycle directly resulted in the state of the games now.

Gen V is held in stupid high regard. I don’t think many people noticed all the stuff in Gen V that no one actually plays or wants.

If Gen V was released without all the bloat I bet you’d get people complaining it was empty even if the aspects people actually play are solid.

That’s largely due to V being the last peak in quality that we’ve never recovered from since.
Again, not so sure. Strip all the bloat away and people would complain. I think GF actually taking away all the stuff people said they did not want and refining the things they did actually want hurt in the long run.

Because, it turns out, without all the stuff no one ever did, there’s actually very little to do in Pokemon and what there is to do fets repetitive and boring very quick

We’re arguing the same point here. No one knows less about making a good Pokémon game than Pokémon fans.

The series did not handle the 3D transition well at all.

Looking at the endgame of SV which is just constant raids compared to all the content BW2 had.

Wait, what is the bloat? Also, what is the very little to do that gets repetitive and boring very quick?

They mean the keys and Dream World stuff which held about half the story of Black and White 2 behind this obscure system that isn't explained to you and is completely skippable. There's tons of cutscenes only accessible with online connections. They're important and without them, BW2 is pretty bland story-wise. Chances are you never saw them. Not only were these not accessible, easily skippable, and obscure if you didn't know about them you can no longer access them. Also, I appreciate a hard mode and easy mode but what was the point of locking them behind beating the game? Who on earth wants to play Easy Mode once you already beat the game?

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't like BW2. I much prefer BW. I also don't like the PWT that much. I think it's a great idea but not letting them use full teams unless you do doubles is criminal. I don't want to play doubles. I never liked doubles. Doubles makes the game not nearly as fun. Instead of this chess-like match, you're never really in an unwinnable position in doubles. Triples? Triples are fun. But I never saw the appeal of doubles and why it's competitive standard is beyond me.

Not to mention Hard Mode is bugged such that the stats of the Pokemon actually reflect what the are in "Normal" mode. So they show 5 levels higher, but stats aren't actually any higher. If you're using level caps, this likely makes the game easier than it otherwise would have.

And we have another Raid event going on this weekend, a 7-star raid featuring a Flying Tera Type Blaziken will be going on between the 12th and 14th (with a rerun on the weekend of January 19th) and the 5-star Blissey raids are returning during the second run.

This is also a reminder that the Mythical Pecha Berry item will either be distributed or obtainable in-game via a patch on the 11th, make sure you’ve done all of the DLC-related stuff the Team Star tutoring sidequest since you’ll need to finish those to access the epilogue.

I like to think the main reason behind making Doubles the main competitive format for sanctioned tournaments is mostly due to speed. Singles-format battles tend to last longer and, when you’ve rented out a venue for a specific amount of time, that‘s generally not a good thing.

A similar thing is happening in the TCG right now, almost every single deck in the Standard format right now has some form of Energy acceleration (attaching more than one energy per turn) that makes it possible to attack by Turn 2.

Wait, what is the bloat? Also, what is the very little to do that gets repetitive and boring very quick?
First all of what @Party Hat Wurmple said and then there is a bunch of multiplayer stuff that no one ever did. So once you’ve done the single player stuff your done really. And even some of the single player stuff is almost locked behind multiplayer.
Who on earth wants to play Easy Mode once you already beat the game?
Not even beaten the game, beaten the correct game to get the correct Key.

Like a second save file, very thsnkful Switch allows this, how hard is it to add a choice at the start of the game?

‘Do you prefer a relaxing or challenging [adventure/time at school?]’

You can absolutely make picking a choice in the intro easy and sound right
But I never saw the appeal of doubles and why it's competitive standard is beyond me.
Especially when the single player game and team building, the stuff people actually do and build for, is all sungle focused.

How do you know doubles a boring? No one played the gamecube games.

Don't forget the PWT where you face half a team. I get it, it's neat but I always hated how difficult it seems to be for them to just give us battles with 6v6 Pokemon...
especially considering how much you have to go through to even get there. Everyone just wanted rematches against updated, maybe competative built, versions of the teams they used in the old games.

But no. You only get half of that for reasons.

And then the lack of full teams did not stop in following Gens. Suddenly everyone just has 5 max. While you have 6. Is bizare.
