First off it appears that there is a new form/regional variant for Ursaluna in the DLC, this one having a blood moon motif instead of the full moon motif seen on the ones found in PLA.
Never heard of this until now, and I'm actually very glad I haven't. Holy shit, that looks so much better than regular Ursaluna it isn't even
funny. I still think the permanent clay is stupid, I'm not a fan of the beard spikes either... but
everything else about this is better.
The eyes are scarier (as they should be). The stupid thing is back on two legs so it doesn't stick out nearly as much (at least Samurott had an excuse). Those CLAWS look like they could KILL SOMETHING and I LIKE THAT
This is way better! In almost every way! Thank fuck I finally have another SV mon to like so that I don't gaslight myself into thinking the rest of the dex is any better!!
...but, wait, if this is an Ursaluna form, is it still technically a gen 8 mon...? A regional form..? ffffuck, no, please just give me ONE OTHER original SV design to like, PLEASE...
Also revealed is Polchageist's evolution. As a lot of people guessed it's basically a cup of matcha tea with Polteageist's tea body incorporated into Sinestea's cup. One little detail I liked is that they added the bamboo whisk to it as a sort of headwear. Oh, and both Polchageist and its evolution have Authentic and Phony forms.
lmao told you suckers
I'll be honest though, this actually looks better than Polteageist. Like, enough that I don't hate it. The bamboo hat-and-hair a bit humanish for my taste but it's sort of silly and I like that. Having the bamboo splinter off into strands that look like hair is a much better way of giving a Polteageist equivalent a hat. I also appreciate that its body is far more amorphous; aside from the hands, it's pretty much just a blob. I find that infinitely more endearing than Polteageist's weird halfway point, where it has a sort of tubish body that looks human enough to be weird but not blobby enough to look like it's made of tea, y'know?
That fucking name is atrocious though.
Sinistcha? Really? Matchageist would've sounded infinitely better!! I get that they were trying to pull a funny on us and swap the names of the evolutions with their prevolutions to be cheekier about how they're basically doing regional variants but not really doing regional variants, but come onnnnn.
Also not a fan that they're bringing that dumb mark gimmick back but I don't care that much. It's based on Polteageist so that was probably bound to happen. I just think it's dumb.
The final thing revealed in the leak is that Ogerpon has the ability to change masks and the hair/arm on its side change color when it swaps masks. We also get a good look Ogerpon's real face and it gives me Clefairy vibes.
>it's literally just a little girl
this makes me unreasonably mad
calling that thing a Clefairy is an odd choice? It reminds me a lot more of Pumpkaboo...
...but anyways, I need to be mad for a second.
STOP MAKING GRASS WAIFUS, GAMEFREAK. PLEASE.
THEY'RE SO FUCKING BORING AND ALMOST ALL OF THEIR CONCEPTS WOULD BE BETTER-OFF AS ANYTHING BUT LITTLE LADIES DRESSED IN PETALS.
Ogerpon? Could've been a fucking trollish abomination that hides its face behind prettier-looking masks to give it a built-in insecurity or trickster personality! A genuine monster that knows it and combats that reputation by hiding behind prettier things!
Tsareena? Almost entirely redundant with Lilligant existing, especially in its Hisuian form! The Mangosteen pun wasn't worth it! Even sticking to grass waifu territory, it could've expanded on Bounsweet and used Mangosteen as bombs or something! It could've been known to be more manic, more unpredictable, more of a brat? I don't know!
Dolliv? Could've looked more like a sapling or some shit! The Kokeshi doll bit of it could've been spun off into something else! Maybe a weird cross-over with voodoo dolls that's pure-ghost and has a pin through its hair like voodoo dolls do through various sensitive bits!
This stupid fucking concept is so overdone, it makes me sick! It's so obvious, too, that most of these aren't added because they add to the world or the team though they'd be cool. It's coom bait, through and through. Tsareena is specifically designed to be a dominatrix (as is Hisuian Lilligant and arguably two other non-grass types). Eldegoss is specifically designed to look like an old lady
which shouldn't be waifu material but the internet is just hell with a different face so it is. Ogerpon... looks like a little girl...
...I'm going to stop there, but all this shit is so clearly designed to appeal to a certain type of dude who plays r34 more than he does the actual games. It's so fucking played out by this point and I wish it'd just stop. Every new plant that looks like a human female in some respect is a waste of a slot and not even Ogerpon's dogshit gimmick of having a whole tale based around it saves this damn design.
Just... ugh. I guess it looks cute. I like the fangs. The masks are probably fire/steel/water/grass respectively. Don't know why they chose steel instead of electric when going with the standard starter trio otherwise? I guess they wanted to give it some competitive viability, like always.
Fucking waste of a legendary.
And like past HOME leaks the Shiny forms for the new Pokémon were also revealed. Shiny Ursaluna and Shiny Polchageist (along with its evolutions) will should be available normally (the only one I'm shaky on is Ursaluna and that's due to previous leaks mentioning that the "special Pokémon" that Perrin wants to photograph being Ursaluna). The Shiny forms for The Loyal Three and Ogerpon more than likely won't be available in-game and will only be obtainable via events.
That shiny quote is a guarantee, just due to how GF has handled shiny legendaries for the past 10+ years at this point. It was all over the moment they shiny-locked Reshiram and Zekrom in base BW.
Anyways, these forms look fine I guess. Ursaluna's red fits this form way more than it does the base one. Applin's looks cute. I don't know why they did beige/orange/navy blue for the Sentai trio, none of them look good.
Oh, and Terastallized Forms like the one we saw Ogerpon taking in the newest trailer aren't shown in HOME so the chances of The Loyal Three having Sentai-inspired Terastallized Forms in addition to others not revealed are still there.
I think you're being a bit optimistic, seeing as the "evil" forms we saw and speculated the same thing about were literally just weird facial morphs they could do in their attack animations, but I'm hesitant to completely dismiss you here because you have a point and they need to promote their new gimmick
hard.
#1011: Dipplin
- Dipplin is two creatures in one Pokémon. Its evolution was triggered by a special apple grown only in one place.
- The head sticking out belongs to the fore-wyrm, while the tail belongs to the core-wyrm. The two share one apple and help each other out.
this is stupid and I like it but it doesn't save the design
#1014: Okidogi
- After all its muscles were stimulated by the toxic chain around its neck, Okidogi transformed and gained a powerful physique.
- Okidogi is a ruffian with a short temper. It can pulverize anything by swinging around the chain on its neck.
okay, so probably poison/fighting
#1015: Munkidori
- The chain is made from toxins that enhance capabilities. It stimulated Munkidori's brain and caused the Pokémon's psychic powers to bloom.
- Munkidori keeps itself somewhere safe while it toys with its foes, using psychokinesis to induce intense dizziness.
absolutely poison/psychic (idk why they're making so many of those now)
#1016: Fezandipiti
- Fezandipiti owes its beautiful looks and lovely voice to the toxic stimulants emanating from the chain wrapped around its body.
- Fezandipiti beats its glossy wings to scatter pheromones that captivate people and Pokémon.
posion/fairy?
#1017: Ogerpon (Teal Mask form)
- This Pokémon's type changes based on which mask it's wearing. It confounds its enemies with nimble movements and kicks.
- This mischief-loving Pokémon is full of curiosity. It battles by drawing out the type-based energy contained within its masks.
probably dark/[mask type]
#1017: Ogerpon (Wellspring Mask form)
- This form excels in both attack and defense. It ceaselessly unleashes moves like a spring gushes water.
- In this form, it draws on the power of water. It attacks unrelentingly with kicks and ivy strikes.
okay, so it might be going for a deoxys-like thing where its stats also change based on the form- I guess that's fine, though I'm a little disappointed
#1017: Ogerpon (Heartflame Mask form)
- This form is the most aggressive, bombarding enemies with the intensity of flames blazing within a hearth.
- In this form, it draws on the power of fire. It spears its enemies with thorn-covered ivy.
alright
(why is every mask aside from the titular one going by a completely different naming scheme? Heartflame, Cornerstone, Wellspring... Teal? At least they all share a Teal portion I guess.)
#1017: Ogerpon (Cornerstone Mask form)
- This form has excellent defenses, absorbing impacts solidly like the cornerstones that support houses.
- In this form, it draws on the power of stone. Its body is rock-solid, protecting it from all manner of attacks.
Ohhh, this is rock and not steel. Alright, that's fine. As long as it's not trying to be Ferrothorn 2 i'm more open to the idea. That design really does scream Steel, though...
Bloodmoon Ursaluna
- It crossed the sea and drifted ashore in a new land. Surviving in this place led it to take on a unique appearance and gain special powers.
-This special Ursaluna can see in the dark with its left eye and protects itself with mud that is as hard as iron.
So I guess this is what happens when an Ursaring evolves in SV. Alright. I don't know how the fuck something like that would've crossed the sea, especially while retaining (and even gaining) some mud bits... then again, Walruses are fat fucks that can somehow swim, so I guess that's how... idk.
Weird how only its left eye can see in the dark. Weird how this implies Ursaluna normally can't. Don't bears have pretty decent nightvision?
- Blood Moon
The user unleashes the full brunt of its spirit from a full moon that shines as red as blood. This move can't be used twice in a row.
Glaive Rush 2. Wonder what the typing will be?
- Matcha Gotcha
The user fires a blast of tea that it mixed. The user's HP is restored by up to half the damage taken by the target. This may also leave the target with a burn.
Jesus christ. Burn + Recover-tier Healing? This thing better be like 50BP or it'll just end up being the new Scald.
- Syrup Bomb
The user sets off an explosion of sticky candy syrup, which coats the target and causes the target's Speed stat to drop each turn for three turns.
We already know about this one and it still sucks. Imagine invalidating every single stat-lowering status move by just making a move that gradually
halves speed with a single hit.
- Ivy Cudgel
The user strikes with an ivy-wrapped cudgel. This move's type changes depending on the mask worn by the user, and it has a heightened chance of landing a critical hit.
Par for the course, still dumb. Ffs I hate this new mentality of gimmick moves so so much. I realize that if it didn't have the crit chance it'd be instantly outclassed by Tera Blast and I don't care because it's still stupid. One gimmick per move is already stretching it, two is just too much.
Mind's Eye (Bloodmoon Ursaluna)
The Pokémon ignores changes to opponents' evasiveness, its accuracy can't be lowered, and it can hit Ghost types with Normal-type and Fighting-type moves.
WHY. WHY DO WE NEED SCRAPPY + KEEN EYE ON A MON ALREADY PROVEN TO BE BROKEN AS FUCK BY DEFAULT. THIS IS STUPID.
Supersweet Syrup (Dipplin) A sickly sweet scent spreads across the field the first time the Pokémon enters a battle, lowering the evasiveness of opposing Pokémon.
Already know about this and it's dumb. Not as ridiculously fucking dumb as something like Mind's Eye, but still dumb.
Hospitality (Poltchageist, Sinistcha)
When the Pokémon enters a battle, it showers its ally with hospitality, restoring a small amount of the ally's HP.
See above, but even less dumb. Looks like it heals 1/16th of HP or something- definitely no more than 1/8th- and being restricted to only work in double battles is more than enough balancing for an ability like this. I still lament that this family probably won't get a secondary ability that works in singles, but that's whatever.
Toxic Chain (Loyal Three)
The power of the Pokémon's toxic chain may badly poison any target the Pokémon hits with a move.
We already know about this, too, aaaand yeah. Ridiculous and dumb. Who needs Toxic when you can just spam attacks constantly? Who needs Poison Touch when you can just be better than it?
Embody Aspect (Teal Mask Ogerpon)
The Pokémon's heart fills with memories, causing the Teal Mask to shine and the Pokémon's Speed stat to be boosted.
Embody Aspect (Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon)
The Pokémon's heart fills with memories, causing the Hearthflame Mask to shine and the Pokémon's Attack stat to be boosted.
Embody Aspect (Wellspring Mask Ogerpon)
The Pokémon's heart fills with memories, causing the Wellspring Mask to shine and the Pokémon's Sp. Def stat to be boosted.
Embody Aspect (Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon)
The Pokémon's heart fills with memories, causing the Cornerstone Mask to shine and the Pokémon's Defense stat to be boosted.
Weird description but okay. It'll probably be explained by the story. I don't know why we need more Totem Pokémon retreading, if nothing else these kinds of abilities should've just been merged all into one new "Aura" mechanic or something that empowers mon identically to the Totems without bloating the Abilitydex so insanely like it's doing now.
- Kitakami Road
- Mossui Town
- Loyalty Plaza
- Reveler's Road
- Kitakami Hall
- Oni Mountain
- Dreaded Den
- Oni's Maw
- Crystal Pool
- Oni Mountain Summit
- Wistful Fields
- Mossfell Confluence
- Fellhorn Gorge
- Paradise Barrens
- Kitakami Wilds
- Timeless Woods
- Infernal Pass
- Chilling Waterhead
That's, like, 20 locations, yeah? Not bad tbh, though it's also counting individual roads and plazas so it probably looks like there's more than there actually is. Very interested in anything without plains/woods/wilds at the end because that means it might be a new biome, but I have rock-bottom expectations and am looking forward to one copy-paste of the rocky and mountainous sections in Paldea + one new location at best.
The "Masked Forme" that Ogerpon takes in the trailers isn't actually a real Forme, it's just story-related stuff.
Dumb and stupid. I hope you don't mean something like Eternamax Eternatus or Ultra Necrozma that you can barely use in normal gameplay, if at all, because I am so damn sick of Pokemon sliding more and more into the worst tropes of other mon-catching games. Uncatchable bosses are the bane of my existence in these things and hearing that there might be a new one is ticking me off more than it should.
As is all of this, really. Why do I find wasting my life on these write-ups fun.
You obtain the Loyal Three as you play through The Teal Mask's story. Centro mentions that they're not classified as Legendary or Mythical Pokémon but I'll take that with a grain of salt.
Centro is a retard who thought an Animal Crossing screenshot was a genuine leak from BDSP and gets pissed off at Khu doing anything while simultaneously stealing 80% of his content. If you'd mentioned that these were from him earlier, I would've already taken all this with a grain of salt from the get-go.
Granted, the first part of this leak is so basic and obvious that it's probably right, but them not being Legendaries or Mythicals (less-so the latter) is a lot more questionable, especially if they're not Ultra Beasts. I
pray that these aren't ANOTHER new classification, because this is getting to be so convoluted that it's hard to follow, and I was already sick of the Ultra Beasts being repeatedly declassified and reclassified as Legendaries since their debut and don't want a repeat of that whole mess.
White-Striped Basculin are found in Kitakami, apparently surviving whatever caused the rest of Hisui's regional variants and evolutions (barring Ursaluna as seen earlier) to disappear.
Don't think about it too hard, worldbuilding is the only weak point Pokémon has consistently had throughout its life that never got better in any respect whatsoever. This poor world was torn at the seams the moment Masuda took the reins (no matter how much I tend to love his games) and was already questionable when Johto mon were introduced as "newly-discovered" despite multiple having long-standing myths tied to them.
It's the whole reason that the creative fan community is so INSANELY huge. The basic premise is the only consistency- the fact that humans live alongside Pokémon and battle with them to evolve each one for the dex- so everyone ignores what remains and does whatever they want with what remains. Things as basic as locations on a map or local economies are left completely ambiguous save for two or so instances (all of which are in Johto), so it leads to a bunch of wildly different interpretations that everyone still accepts as fact because 1) this franchise is unconditionally beloved solely by cocksucking retards and children, neither of whom question anything and 2) there's usually nothing contradicting the interpretations that hasn't already been repeatedly contradicted elsewhere in the franchise.
EDIT: Ogerpon is likely Ghost/[mask type] and my other predictions seem to have been correct.
