I mean, if you read my thing, my expectation is primarily split evolutions, not the sentai and villain forms being on the same line. I mostly just acknowledged and went against that theory.
Whether it's actually fully split evolutions, or just two forms of the same Pokemon, I think that's just down to time to tell. And regardless, I maintain whatever form that split takes is a prototype for making some similar split in final starter stages.
Fair enough. I just don't expect split evolutions whatsoever, that specifically seems way too far-fetched for this. Why would there even be multiples of these guys in the first place if they're not only (probably) a legendary trio, but also explicitly stated to be singular Pokémon helping out the village people.
And the prototype thing is very possible, especially seeing as Pokémon has just been using every new entry as a paid beta test for the next since SwSh.

I haven't watched the direct yet but i'm going to catch up to it. Watching it as a commented version here.

Gireum has always good takes on what's wrong with new pokemon content and how gamefreak did improve.

Also this looks interesting:

Meowscarada 😍

My opinions on the new Pokemon designs

dinosaur suicune - cool but too cool in a forced way. Looks like the love child of Feraligatr and suicune and reminds me of the fact feraligatr needs a mega evolution
robot virizion - bland but okay, still prefer normal virizion.

Probably a hint to lets go/Legends Johto and Gen 5 remake.

monke - boring.
doggo - Zarude as a dog, looks like a fakemon from pokemon uranium
bird - lame

mask - interesting, it's supposed to look japanese but it also has some hawaiian flair
turtle - amazing

When Sw/Sh DLC got announced a bunch of Pokemon had their Pokedex data deleted (and every last one was later seen in the DLC). Based on this, data miners have created THIS list of all the entries deleted in this patch. If they're following the same patterns as before, that list is every returning DLC Pokemon. Accordingly with that list in mind, the only Pokemon to have yet to come to Switch are Spinda (kinda), Furfrou, and a handful of gen 5's (which we all know the remakes are coming).
Nice. If this is correct, some of my favorite 'mon lines (Mudkip, Litten, Litwick, Squirtle, Exeggcute, Rhyhorn, Totodile, and Phantump) will be added in.

Also is anyone else getting Majora's Mask vibes from Ogrepon? He reminds me of Skull Kid.

I never looked at it like this before and now I'll never be able to unsee it thanks

r34 horrors left me scarred for life :/

Couple of solid picks. Still not getting SV but pretty interesting for competitive.

There's one thing that makes me think that list needs one more detail. That list numbers 223 entries.
But the website says:

By my count, there's 11 Pokemon either with regional forms whose evolutions appear in that list, or who straight-up have regional forms. That'd bring the list to 235-ish, which would mean that yes, their regional forms are coming too.

Now, all that's left is to wonder how big the new additions will number. It'll probably take us up to a round number of dex entries, either 640 or 650. MAYBE 649, the number of pokemon available by gen 5.
Each of the named Pokemon so far is five, so that'd be 228. If they're three-stage starter analogues, the Momotrio takes up at least another six, possibly nine, so 234/237. Paradox Virizion and Suicune are 236/9, if THEY got the rest of their trios, 240/243. That'd give us ten-to-seven new as yet unrevealed Pokémon with no evidence to their nature yet, which sounds roughly right, to me. A regional line, a regional fake, and some new legendaries/paradoxes would round it out nicely.

The two characters whom I assume are gonna be our DLC rivals look so lame. Literally just emo bootlegs of those new Fire Emblem protagonists. I hope they don't get shoved into our faces every other minute during whatever the plot is gonna be.

banger

all human characters from sv look like fortnite skins

Thank fuck Online Terra Raids let you catch both of the new Paradox Pokémon regardless of version, because I only have one friend IRL who plays Violet and I forgot just how retarded the AI Trainers are. I was fully expecting them to do something retarded like make Scarlet players unable to join Iron Leaves Raids and vice versa.

Speaking of - the new Paradox Pokémon definitely seem designed to compliment the Box Art Legendaries in Doubles (God’s Chosen Format, fight me) - Walking Wake getting a Stat Boost in it’s highest stat (usually Soecial Attack) in harsh sunlight, Iron Leaves getting a Stat Boost in it’s highest stat (usually Attack) on Electric Terrain, and both their signature moves receiving a 50% Strength Increase under the same conditions? Sign me up for shenanigans.

I can't with this DLC price. 34 dollars!? 34 FUCKING DOLLARS!??!?? Jesus Christ.

So apparently Hydro Steam, Walking Wake's signature move, is actually boosted in the sun, not lowered. This might make it an extremely interesting addition to Sun Teams, or a great sun counter.
Keep in mind that it's a water type move so it should also still be boosted in the rain.

Its kind of intimidating going from Gen 1-6 to whatever the series is now. Its still pokemon but feels...odd. Thats not a bad thing, Im just saying watching the footage feels so alien at this point from where it all started that it almost feels all a tad intimidating.

Oh well, I guess its still fun to see how they keep trying to move things forward at least.

Keep in mind that it's a water type move so it should also still be boosted in the rain.
The same applies with Psyblade, having two Terrains it should be buffed in (psychic and electric).

Indirectly, Hydro Steam sorta buffs Snow and Sandstorm, as they become a much better counter to sun teams than rain is. But it definitely buffs sun way more.

Posting new mons; art was ripped from the official site. Names are in their filenames. All spoilered in case people wanna go in blind.

opinions?
The new legendary turtle and the bird look pretty cool, but the others are pretty meh and the dog looks like ass. Since the turtle has every type on its shell I wonder if he'll have a non-nerfed version of protean.

Its almost like a coordinated effort to kill a certain hobby by pricing out most of the market and gatekeeping anyone there to do their jobs.
I was immensely confused by this post at first, because why would Game freak want to price out the market of... playing pokemon games...????

Wouldnt mind a pokemon card bubble pop at this point. Its clear the majority of people don’t give a shit about it as the funny meme of the day and are only there to inflate prices for everything.
But then it became clear your post about the dlc being pricey to beat out some market... was because you're an illiterate tcg guy. Got it.

Some discussion from around the web of the new Pokémon and events:
The teal mask's stars appear to be based on Momotaro.

A boy goes out on an adventure with a Dog, a Monkey, and a Pheasant to capture and defeat an Oni/Ogre/Demon. It'd line up perfectly with the Dog, Monkey, and Pheasant not-quite-starters being... well, not-quite-starters. Ogrepon is obviously the demon.

Kitakami is an actual prefecture in Japan.

The three not-starters - what I'm hence calling the Momotrio - also each have a pun of sorts their name incorporates:

Okidoji is a corruption of Okey-dokey.
Munkidori is a corruption of Hunky-dory.
And Fezandipiti is hard to spell. and a corruption of Serendipity.

That's not all there is to their names, but it's another layer to them. Probably ties into their "good" sides, which may suggest that they genuinely are Pokemon with two forms rather than two separate final species. Still maintain they're split-starter-prototypes.

Aside from that, there's this image going around with Terapagos.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot.

There's a rumour going around that Dondozo can vore Walking Wake, because it's coded to vore any water/dragon type Pokémon.

This is likely a lie - there's no footage, and it's Tatsugiri's ability, not Dondozo's that causes the vore in the first place. But it's still a really funny mental image.

The Pokémon TCG "bubble" is technically more of a ball that deflates and reinflates with hype, certain alt arts and secret-rares still push a $100+ price tag on the resale market but the prices for a majority of Crown Zenith's chase card are dropping as more packs are opened. It's also gotten easier to get sealed products compared to how bad is was during the pandemic, just look at how easy it is to pick up one of those Charizard Ultra-Premium Collections (and how you can probably pay less than $100 USD too).

My biggest fear right now is how TPCi changing the pack structure (and MSRP for products) starting with Scarlet & Violet and how that affects the resale market, I'm already seeing some worrying signs in the form of "Gallery" cards being classified as Secret Rares and rumors about the whole "3 holos per pack" bit just amounting to there being two reverse-holos and a guaranteed holo rare or higher with one of those reverse holos having a chance of being a second holo rare or higher.

To be fair SV's DLC does cost a bit more than SWSH's Expansion Pass but that depends on if a $5 USD increase fits the bill.

35 for one DLC? swsh was 30 for both if i remember right.
and i thought usum was a cashgrab half a decade ago.
