really sucks that this is what Nuzlockes are now. If almost any person with actual investment into the whole idea made that video, I'd actually have been reasonably excited for something like this. Sigh, oh well.

Depressing realities aside, sorry for hijacking any convo that might've been happening beforehand. Got a bit pissy about the video and had KF open, so that relatively-mad post kinda just spilled out.
Uh, that aside, Pokémon Day's in a day or two. Does anybody care? All the Pokémon-related circles i'm in seem either bitterly cynical or not even aware of it, despite the fact that it's in 2 days. So, curious as to what this place's thoughts on it are.

I don't actively play nor buy Nintendo crap so I'm not all that emotionally involved for this upcoming commercial. I'm ready for nothing special, but hey anything can still happen, ya know? Pokemon stadium port? New game anouncement? New anime reveals?

At least the reactions on /vp/ will be funny.

i've been super cynical about the franchise for like 5 years now so I'm keeping my expectations low too, but maybe just having meh expectations is better than the crap I'm expecting :0
I think the Stadium port is already out on NSO, right? And you can only use rentals, so there's that. New game announcement is probably not happening, though I'm expecting DLC for SV and no acknowledgement of the bugs. Anime reveals would be cool, actually. I hadn't considered that! Kind of hoping it happens now lol

This seems to star a super-fucking-cursed pikachu plushie. I think it's a puppet. Still super cursed.

Pokemon world championships are in japan this year.

This fucking pikachu is terrifying.

Next thing is like a super tryhard "I'm not a massive dork playing a kid's card game" add for what seems to be a retro-release of the early tcg cards.

New Netflix series called the Pokemon Concierge...? A stop motion-animated series based at a resort, starring it's concierge. Animation might be interesting, but I ain't holding my breath.

I swear this fucking pikachu will steal your soul.

They've announced there is dlc but they're deliberately holding out on it.

Zacian is joining Pokémon unite. You can finally play as Sif the Great Grey Wolf. And Zamazenta gets fucked again.

Cooking...? Oh christ it's Pokemon themed cuisine- ah Cafe Remix. They made the dish irl irl it kinda freaked me out. the Paldean Starters are coming to cafe remix.

Master Sex...? It's got a champion-themed event, and the rivals from Galar are teaming up with legendary galarian birds. The voices are so terrible...

Pokémon sleep is coming out at last. fucknig had to laugh when they had to have a disclaimer that, no, the game doesn't make obviously animated pokemon sleep in your bed. But it's still not coming out yet, it's coming 'later this year'.

It's a gamified sleep monitor. Sleeping in certain ways makes certain sleeping pokemon show up on the app. Think that idle cats game.

New Accessory called Go Plus + (yep). It's tied in to sleep and go. If you want pikachu to sing you Twinkle Twinkle little star, that'll be available in july.

Finally Scarlet and Violet.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Part 1, the Teal Mask. Ogrepon
Part Two, the Indigo Disk. Terapagos. HMMMMM. INTERESTING NAME.

The teal mask takes you to a land called Kitakami and Indigo disk takes you to Blueberry academy. The former seems to be a new asian region or just literally more japan and seems to have a lot of new pokemon. I think the trio of Pokemon here might be experimenting with the idea of split evolution starters, as they seem to have a sentai-rangers inspired form and an evil spirit form.

The indigo disc is basically just a floating arena, but I'm guessing we're going deeper into area Zero there.

So did they just forget Suicune was supposed to be created during the Burnt Tower fire, or...?

The most eventful thing outside of the inevitable DLC was the confirmation that Sleep was a thing again, and we all know they're only doing that to harvest data for profit
at least last year had the announcement of two remakes and such

at least Pokémon has finally completed its transition into "mobile-focused lifestyle brand"

I realize i'm being overdramatic, sorry. Just kind of bummed. I was at least looking forward to something on PMD, even a shitty rerelease or a bad remake, but no.
At least Terapagos looks really really good, as does Walking Wake (lmao at Violet just getting Virizion as a robot instead of that decent-looking fusion of all three though), as opposed to the gross trio in the first part of the DLC (hot pink never looks good on anything natural). What is it with recent gens being really good at designing Legendaries, but terrible at (designing) everything else?

Wasn't the whole point behind the "paradox" forms that it was what someone believed a pokemon from the past or future would be like? In other words literally outside of cannon?

Dude, just look at the comments of the Direct and its trailers. It's seriously like Byleth all over again. Nintendo did something that the fans didn't like, and they only shut up after another set of shiny new keys was dangled in front of them- at which point every single dissenter shut their mouths and clapped like seals.
It's depressing how little anybody actually cares about the state of this franchise sometimes.
 
I get that some of you guys are disappointed about the lack of a new Mystery dungeon, but didn't we establish earlier in the thread that the chances of a new MD was unlikely given how the game studio behind it have pretty been added to the main team for Pokemon?

I think people were hopeful regardless just because it's been so long
this year it will have been 8 years since Super, and it's already been 3 since DX
the trademark on the Together site and DX's arguably-high sales paired with a massive drought of new games and a continuously-rabid fan community made people leap on the "NEW GAME CONFIRMED" train very quickly because desperation
besides, most Pokémon Day directs typically have at least one new game announcement, so it wasn't an unreasonable expectation in that context. How this one managed to go the entire thing shilling only mobile trash and nostalgiafagging card sets is impressive, but expecting as much was arguably unrealistic (especially after last year's Direct showing off so much).

It's no wonder why The Pokemon Company got the memo that quality doesn't matter anymore. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet was a broken mess upon launch and yet the launch records exceeded that of the previous generations. The franchise has a watertight seal against accountability it seems. There's been no point in buying mainline Pokemon games since the 7th generation.

I was hoping we would at least hear news about Pokemon Stadium coming out on the Nintendo Switch and how they would making the Transfer Pak compatible with the inevitable Pokemon Red & Blue re-releases on the platform. The selling point is that they would be able to use the Transfer Pak feature without the unreliableness of the original hardware forcing you to turn the game back off again and again. The Pokemon Company can't even be assed to put that up and give a selling point for the Nintendo Swich's paid expansion pak.

on a semi-related note, I've somehow seen no backlash to the fact that GF locked Vivillion's main trait behind a mobile app and physically travelling to the country with your preferred pattern to get a postcard for it from a Pokestop. How even

I have been informed that this is because you can just add people from other countries for postcards
