Okay, visually, BDSP looks GREAT. I think ILCA outdid themselves with the visuals, they're fucking smacking SwSh around on that front.
What I have a big problem with though, the game
feels kind of like a beta. It's a lot of little things, there's that Snowpoint softlock, most pokemon who follow you in the overworld can't keep up with you, there's that weird zoom thing you see with some of the trainer encounters, where the camera zooms in when they see you and speak to you, then zooms out and starts the battle... the transition from walking in the grass to wild battle feels just... wrong. Abrupt. Not to mention the GWS is completely locked until they bring in an update to officially implement it.
The games could have used a little while longer in the oven, and I would've preferred if they released the FULL game at launch without the need for game-breaking-fixing patches. Because based on the visuals, I don't want Game Freak to touch ANOTHER Pokemon game. But at the same time, even SwSh didn't feel as cheap as BDSP do in terms of functionality.
This is also more of a personal qualm, but I hate that they brought back breakable TMs. Having the TM and TR system in SwSh was perfectly fine.
What they need to fucking do is get a BIG team to work on the games. Not a small team of 12 or 52 people, this is a multi-billion dollar franchise, not some indie game. It deserves so much more.
And honestly, the sooner they fire Masuda or drop Game Freak, the better. Pokemon deserves so much more than a game director who purposefully and willfully leaves features out of a game because he thinks players are too stupid or have short attention spans. Fuck Masuda.
