Shiny Zacian codes (and Zamazenta come the 11th/4th of November) are currently being given out at GameStop, but if you're lazy like me you can just use GAME UK's code giveaway page to score a Shiny Zacian code and Shiny Zamazenta code without dealing with the employees at your local store (and if you're Sword player, waiting a few days to get your code).

But be warned, the codes are version-locked (Shield gets Shiny Zacian while Sword gets Shiny Zamazenta).

I always hate hearing about moves banned from the competition scene.

People are just sore losers when they talk about how “leet hacked” things are.
Has the competitive scene ever banned moves? To my knowledge, the moves that they ever ban are ones that would be impossible for certain Pokémon to have without specific circumstances.

There are moves that were banned because they either break the game (bounce+gravity in gen V) or lower accuracy/raise evasion (because they more extend the game rather than add a strategic element)

Official formats use the mark system to give and take move from specific Pokemon, like Roost from Vespiqueen. Tryhard formats like Smogon typically ban Pokemon and Abilities, but not moves nearly as much. The only move that Smogon has banned in Gen 8 OU is Baton Pass and evasion moves because their inner circle didn't like Baton Pass teams.

Smogon formats make a nice framework, but they will just ban things that their power users don't like. Last time I'd heard anything about Smogon before looking shit up today was them threatening to ban Heavy Duty Boots because it made their precious Stealth Rock less viable.

Banning HDB in a limited format so that half the Pokemon become completely unviable again.
Makes Sense.

The only reason Pokemon like Charizard and Volcarona can even function at the moment is thanks to that item. I think that speaks more to how overpowered Stealth Rock is rather than HDB. The fact that Singles basically lives or dies by entry hazard management is a major reason why I prefer Doubles.

I've had the Singles vs Doubles debate with friends a couple of times. My preferred is the official 3v3 Singles formats. Only having 3 Pokemon means it's a lot harder to justify bringing something like a suicide Rocks lead or setting weather without the abilities or Trick Room. There's also item clause, which is why items like Heavy Duty Boots are so powerful: you can only run 1 Pokemon with them in official formats. Also forces some more creativity with items when you can't just spam the same 4 (HDB, Leftovers, Life Orb, Choice) items over and over.

I'd have preferred them to nerf Rocks so they bottom out at 1/2 damage but top out at 2x damage, but HDB is a really nice alternative to that.

If Stealth Rock was just Spikes but only for aerial Pokemon I think that would make for a healthier unofficial Singles metagame. The fact that they hit everything and have type effectiveness is ridiculous. Having a Pokemon start a fight at 50% because they are 4x weak to a move that has zero drawbacks and is extremely easy to set up or have to waste their item slot is just dumb.

You're not really wasting an item slot with the HDB as there's still regular spikes, toxic spikes and sticky webs that it protects against.

As annoying as the rocks are to go against, I don't think they need a nerf. It's type effectiveness damage mechanic is what makes it a pretty unique hazard choice. Implementing the boots was a pretty nice work-around along with all the existing methods of removing hazards.

My issue is that the Pokemon most punished by SR, and subsequently most likely to run HDB, are only affected by SR and not the regular ground based hazards, making HDB purely a SR negation tool.

I agree HDB are a great item and have more use than purely a SR counter, but I think their damage output is too extreme for something that takes very little effort to get up. Taking 3 turns to set up maximum level Spikes only does 25%, but one turn of SR can do up to 50%. If SR even just required multiple layers but still hit 50% maximum I wouldn't be as opposed to them as a mechanic.

HDB was the best possible solution short of nerfing Rocks. It's unfortunate that even if they were removed entirely we'd probably just move back towards stall based teams so people could get up max layer Spikes with stuff like Skarmory. Smogon Singles seems to be obsessed with entry hazards to an unhealthy degree.

Back in the day, I thought the design for the male DP protagonist was the most pathetic, childish design ever

He looks even more pathetic with those stubby arms.

Someone has a copy of BDSP.

Leaks from THAT pending.

Not from that directly, comparing recent trailers to initial ones shows there's been a very significant graphical upgrade, both in colouring, textures, and even animations:

Regarding PLA, the leaking I've been following has taken a very fun turn, if you're a Kiwi. by which I mean you've got backstabbing and tard-raging between the leakers.

The main source of leaks for PLA has been Nihilego Khu, aka Riddler Khu. His original leaks were my previously posted 12 image riddles.

Another leaker, Centro leaks, posted those riddles without context, which is how they got into the english fanbase as a whole, and claimed them as his own. This has lead to Khu getting pissed, and constantly in that ever so fun "I don't care now watch me post about this a million times each time saying how much I don't care"

However, we do have a pretty plausible final list of the pokemon getting new hisuian forms and evolutions. This is the image that Khu liked:

Some variants replace basculin and lilligant with jynx, or add goomy or bergmite instead of other pokemon, but this contains the most common ones.

Perhaps the most wild one is that the new mythical is, in fact, a new UB.

I still doubt the starters are getting variants. They're not native to the Hisui region, they're imports.

Videos are going up and down.

I'm trying to find a source of information, and so far all it's taken me to is a discord server with a guy streaming bowser's fury while he and his friends discuss how many years back you'd have to go to find a fuckable Nancy Pelosi. Pray for me, Pokiwis.

Edit: There is apparently Midi versions of songs being played in the leaked copies, that had full renditions in the trailers leading up to it. People are assuming that the musical update will come in the day 1 patch.

Have these fags dump the nsp and I'll make it so we can make our own leaks, with blackjack and hookers

I know some people are trying to start a class action on /vp/ which is dumb, but I just wonder how does it even get to this point for the music, that stuff is usually one of the first thing finished for a game. seems like this might have been a rush job even more than usual Pokémon games were if they do actually have a remastered ost for patching.
