My wife is cucking me out of 64 dollars to buy this trash so I had better get some mild entertainment out of it or I'm going to turn to domestic violence and it will be Nintendo's fault.

I’ve been playing the game since yesterday evening (I’ve beaten the Bug and Grass Gyms and I’ve beaten Titan Klawf and Orthworm) and I’m enjoying it so far, the performance issues are noticeable but I’ve played FAR worse games in my life. I’m looking at you, Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly for the GCN.

Oh, and some of the performance issues like the frame rate slow-downs and buggy shadows are due to the games suffering from memory leak. The easiest way to fix it on the player’s side (it’s a patchable issue but that’ll take time) is to limit yourself to 1-hour long play sessions, save and restart the game, and then fire up the game again.
Was TCG Live still in the Canada-only Beta up until now?
It expanded to a few more countries but this is the first time anyone in the US has been able to access it without a VPN.

Part of it is the game just doesn't run well on a stock switch, at all. The bugs i've been seeing are mostly like, massive frame drops and having to redraw the environment whenever the game has to cut to a new angle. Also, remember, GF was NEVER good at programming, just look at how long it took them to bring out the original pokemon and how shoddy the end product was. That never really changed unless someone like Iwata got involved.
They had some others, like Pokemon appearing embedded in the floor in battles and at least one hard crash for a player who had autosave turned off for guide writing reasons (ouch.) And yeah, they went into the ridiculous pop-in issues too, being somehow even worse than Sw/Sh, a feat I would have seemed impossible previously.

Pokefags will eat shit and thank gamefreak for it
Seems all the monster collecting franchises suffer from stockholm syndrome

Pokemon seems to be an outlier in this regard, since a lot of fans will just say "yeah" when you say this to their faces. Say this to Digimon fans, and they'll go on about how they're the only reason the franchise still exists like it's something to be proud of.

Seems like we're relapsing back into the griefing thread. Glaring technical issues aside, how would some of you rate your experience on the game? I haven't gotten it yet and I want to see if it's worth the purchase.

I made it about 45 minutes then decided my work would be more entertaining. But I acknowledge the tutorial shit is always a slog. I'm about to give it another go.

I had fun with the 5 hours I put in so far. It hasn't been the greatest experience nor the worst but maybe it's because I just set my expectations with a game like Pokemon lower. Pokemon isn't a thing I play to immerse myself in some cinematic world where all my disbeliefs are suspended. I was more upset when Cyberpunk 2077 released in the state it did as compared to Scarlet/Violet and I wasn't even expecting the be all, end all game with Cyberpunk. Just solid gameplay with a decent enough story. I didn't even buy the game and felt buyer's remorse on behalf of the person that gifted it to me.

There's fun to be had with the new Pokemon games but I wouldn't blame anyone if they wanted to wait on maybe a Black Friday deal or maybe score a slightly lower priced used copy. It's good with some glaring flaws at best and mediocre at worst.

Also, Bread Dog does not work how I hoped it would and that disappoints me. I should have expected that it gets a defense boost when it's hit by a fire attack but the initial wording pokemondb posted and Bread Dog's very low offensive stats had me holding out some hope. No baton passing shenanigans for me then. I'll figure out another fun team to run I'm sure. Oh boy, Anger Shell Weakness Policy Klawf looks interesting. And look at all these electric terrain paradox Pokemon!...

Yeah, once you get out of the tutorial, there's suddenly a shit ton to do and see. I wasted a lot of my early time hanging out in the first zone outside of the school. If I had any advice, rip the bandaid off and get to the school treasure hunt asap.

I put this on my Xmas wishlist so hopefully by the time I play it they'll have patched out some of the performance issues. I can deal with crusty graphics, my main console used to be a Wii, but frame drops bug the hell out of me.

Honestly, it's on par with Sun and Moon and how shit that was. I like the world but the technical issues destroy it. The first pokemon I catch and its screen tears and the camera fixes to the floor. Arceus had a ton of issues too but because this is really open world and it happens so frequently is really not acceptable.

Nemura or Neguma, battle bitch, is more fucking irritating than Hop and he is a character I would personally want to chain his creator up. She honestly mentions battling EVERY FUCKING OTHER SENTENCE. Christ Game Freak people have told you over and over to improve the opening experience but this is probably the worst starting and the Sun and Moon.

The character Design in this game is by far the worst, Sword and Shield was pretty bad but this one is horrible. Whoever designed the Champion should just speed up and go ghost. I had to switch it off I got to the bit where you can actually free roam but I got constant screen chugging, so I switched it off. I am bummed because God of War was fucking horrendous and I and the spouse were gonna play this together but that opening experience is like being a coma patient.
