While KF was down I picked up Legends Arceus, which I have owned since early in the year but I got just before Elden Ring came out... so I basically forgot about it while I played that. I gotta say, I got really hooked on it. I underestimated how much I'd like the autistic book keeping of getting all the pokedex entries to level 10. When I was in grade school and I knew Pokemon from the show before I knew what the games were like Legends Arcues is extremely close to what my child brain imagined Pokemon was like. I think with some improvements on finding Pokemon, some methods like in Pokemon Snap come to mind. the next Legends game could be... who am I kidding, it's Pokemon and they will not innovate outside of tiny incremental changes. Well, I like the game-play loop and can only hope there are more games in this style.

I also hate to admit it, but I am pretty interested in Scarlet/Violet because of what the leaks have to say and Wiglett seems to confirm them. I still hate the idea of supporting the mainline games after the bullshit pruning of so much past content though...

To be fair, assuming you're referring to Dexit, there is a shit-ton of filler in the national dex at this point. With so many pokemon being similar to each other (mainly the early game pokemon and pika-clones), it'd be redundant to have them included alongside the new ones.

Besides, the new pokemon are the main appeal of the newer entries anyway.

Well, this is at times by design. Like, BW's roster has a lot of counterparts to gen 1 pokemon because it was basically meant to be a counterpart region, like a Beanbean Kingdom or something, and alternating which ones are in a given regional dex give them a bit of variety and identity.

But to a lot of people, filtering those redundancies out is the point of the regional dex.

Also, fun fact regarding leaks and Wigglet:
Apparently the evolution is pink.

Also, there's another regional fake, based off of Tentacool.

While I'm at it, assuming the leaks are true, it's wild that Tauros is getting like 3 regional forms. But I suppose it's a classic Pokemon from Ash's team, and if any pokemon/region combo makes sense to put together for multiple regionals, it's Tauros and Spain.

Edit: If you're not aware, Wigglet is based off of Garden Eels.

If you've played Monster hunter world, and they look familiar, the Wigglers from the Coral Highlands are inspired by the same species.

They don't even have all the classics, they're not just filtering out the 500 different fish and birds.

Regardless, I don't about care using mons from the prior gens in the new games outside of trying new strats in online battles. I like to give the new ones a chance to shine.
So basically you don't have any favorite Pokemon as mainstays? If there's Gengar he's joining my team, every time. Maybe that's just me.

Oh no, I have my favorites. I just also want to give the new guys a chance.
Thankfully, this generation has some now 'mons I am eager to try.

And another Gengar fan, I see. My fondness for the big goof because he was a favorite of a late friend I knew exclusively online. He suffered kidney failure and had to pay for his dialysis so he couldn't afford any of the then-current generation (III) games thus I bought a copy of Pokemon Sapphire and sent it to him. He kept me appraised of his progress and we both promised that we'd battle each other when I could finally visit him in person. Needless to say he passed away before we could fulfill that promise, but I have since raised a Gengar every generation since as a tribute to him because they had similar personalities.

Since the makio leak is proving to be pretty accurate so far, I'm lookingg forward to seeing the paradox forms of Hydreigon and Volcarona. Those are two of my favorites in the series, so I'm looking forward to seeing what any potential alternate forms could be.

Also I've been binge watching Trailer Park Boys the past few weeks, if I catch a Wiglett I'm going to name it J-Roc.

>seafloor rotates along with Wiglett
Also this better be the last time they do the fucking “what if LONG” meme.

How many does that make? We got A. Exeggutor, Sneasler and now this guy?

I'm fine with it as there is some logical justification for it (A. Exeggutor being an actual palm tree and Wigglett being based on a garden eel).

Counting as many as possible:
Alolan Exeggutor
Gigantamax Meowth
Galarian Weezing (hats/smokestacks)
Sirfetch’d (that sword is awfully long)
all 3 Gigantamax Galar starters
Overqwil (those spines are too big)
Sneasler
Wiglett
