I just thought of something, maybe the reason that there is Hisuian forms in this region is because the Not-Spanish-Portuguese brought them from the not-Japanese regions since Portugal was very involved in Japanese history in opening them up to the West and stuff. The brought them over and have thrived there ever since while in Sinnoh they have all but disappeared.

The more I think about it, it makes sense that after PLA why they would choose Spain and Portugal over Italy, Greece, or Australia. I am sure in the game we will learn a little more about the history of the region and their relationship with other regions.

SwSh was ok, a step back from Sun and Moon overall, better than XY. I'm somewhat disappointed in another Euro region, probably cause two of the weakest Gens we're Galar-England and Kalos-France. Would of liked a South America, Steppe, or Middle Eastern region adapted. Surprised the region isn't named.
I've been replaying X again and it sucks because Kalos had so much potential. The big gimmick of the gen wasn't even a major part of the main story. I think a region based on Turkey or Egypt would be cool. I believe Galar already alluded to an Egypt-inspired region existing, as well as the Indian Elephant-inspired Pokemon being imported to Galar. Though those were probably references to England's colonial empire in real life.

In regards to a South American-inspired region, its not relevant to the main series games, but the Gen 5 Victini movie appears to have taken inspiration from Andean cultures. There was a desert town (or something?) in the movie which may have drawn inspiration from the Sechura/Nazca Desert? Some of the characters clothing looks very Andean/Inca based. The legendary mascots could take inspiration from the Nazca Lines. Maybe something like Yugioh 5D's Earthbound Immortals (in a Pokemon style of course).

Spain (or a Spanish-themed region) has basically been staring us in the face all this time.

Interesting. I remembered there was a lot of rumours/speculation that the next region would be inspired by Italy, I don't think I remember hearing speculation about Spain though. EDIT: I guess if you replay the Gen 8 games, you could see potential hints. I think some of the recent games left subtle clues. Like the souvenir in X & Y.

For anyone who says the starters look like fakemons, I understand but just give them time to exist. Every generation feels like that at reveal.

I'm glad it seems like they're sticking closer to the PLA formula as it works really well, just needs some improvements. Now that we're probably about to have over 1000 Pokemon in total, and we seem to be going in the direction most fans have wanted gameplay wise, I really wish they would slow down on games. What I would really, really like to see is for them to focus on production of a single Pokemon game for 4+ years of development time with the focus of bringing the complete Pokemon world (meaning every region, every Pokemon) to one game. Ideally it would be the perfect way to cap off the series as whole, especially because it's so unreasonably big now, but sadly dreams are just dreams. The series is way too profitable to let it die any time soon, let alone give it a proper send off.

I was listening to Shofu an hour ago, and the point he made on BDSP makes me sad, bros:

It's just a half-assed holiday cash grab, that was overshadowed by PLA literally from its first announcement. And now Gen 9 is revealed? I've never felt so cucked as a Gen 4 fan, and I never even purchased the game.

But good thing Shaymin's coming, amirite?
Post Gen 4 Pokémon has been constant 1 step forward 1 step back for every entry anyway. Physical/Special split was the last major lasting gameplay change (besides fairy type). Bringing previous gens to that standard made sense. Since Gen 4 had it anyway, I’m not sure Gen 4 and after really need remakes at all. Cheap Ports like the red and blue 3ds ones would have been fine with me.

I agree there doesn't need to be any more remakes. Just port them with Pokemon Home functionality. I think Legends should, and considering it's success, will be how they revisit regions. I'd much rather visit a region in a different state(not necessarily always in the past) than play a barely more fleshed out retread of the previous one. I dunno how the cheap low effort Gen4 remakes did, but I hope to never see another one.

I think it'd be cool to see Legends Kyurem in a discovery/colonization of the new world in what would become the Unova region, starting out at a boat landing, and an early Castelia City builds up as you play the game.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet look interesting but after swsh and bdsp, lets just say I don't have my hopes up.
As for the starters. The duck is my favorite so far, but I'm going to wait until the finale evolutions are reviled or leaked for the cat and crocodile to properly judge them.
See, I’m curious to see the second stage, but I want to try and stay unspoiled on the final. Because I am a bit torn on who to go with.

there's a lot of weed jokes surrounding sprigatito.

None of them really landed with me, will have to see their evolutions to make a final pick.

This is fake. They already had a dragon evolutionary line around the theme of apples in the forgettable Gen V and VI games.
> Calls the Pokemon Direct from this actual morning fake
> Gets a pokemon's location wrong by like two whole consoles
> Still has the balls to call anyone else a tard

I just saw the trailer and SV looks interesting.
  • The starters look okayish to me but I can see where people are coming from when they say they look like shit. That said I’ll probably start my standard playthrough with Fuecoco and my traditional JPN/foreign playthrough with Quaxly.
  • I love how people are already speculating the final evos for the starters.
  • The MCs look “off” to me (and a lot of other fans apparently) in-game but the Sugimori artwork looks okay. I hope it’s addressed at some point but with only around 9 months of dev time I doubt it will.
  • The environments look great and I think choosing Spain for a new region is good (and it’s a hell of a lot better than India as far as tourism goes) but since this is the Switch we’re talking about here I’ll wait until we get a better view closer to release. Judging by the main site it looks like we’re keeping PLA’s open world design but catching Pokemon is going back to the original formula.
  • Pokemon selection looks good if a bit too close to PLA’s. I’m also happy to see that Hisuian Pokemon are in the game, even if we know they were a shoe-in, and I hope we see a majority of ‘em in SV.
  • OhgodpleasekeeptheDLCstructureandPokedexexpansionsthatSWSHhadIcan’tgobacktosequelgamesanymore

The Arceus DLC looks okay but I’ll have to check it out later. From what I’m hearing outbreaks have been given a serous upgrade at the cost of losing Shiny spawn resets.

I know it happened before with emerald and FRLG for two games in one year but I hope it doesnt become common like how 2 gens per console did after BW
You forgot to add the obligatory Pokemon-themed Funko POP to that pic.

Oh god please don't have encounters work like SWSH, I just want pre-emptive strike mechanics again so looking for pokemon about to ram into you means something

Again, shit will probably be a sinnoh vassal state with the ones that didnt show up like wooper and swablu being here

I stole it off /vp/ but I'll see what I can do for a funko pop edit
