so i've finally made it to cobalt coastlands after procrastinating doing the main quest. my star rank is now 6, so pokemon level 80 and below obey me. naturally, none of my actual party pokemon are anywhere close to level 80, with the highest level being level 56, but i'm still overleveled anyway so lol.

i seriously regret delaying the main quest, though, because getting basculegion is a fucking godsend. literally as soon as i got it i went back to the first area and swam my ass to that previously inaccessible island so i could catch an alpha infernape. and oh my god traversing the crimson mirelands is so much easier now, since i can just ride wyrdeer and then throw myself into a body of water and automatically switch to basculegion, so i don't have to find those shitty fucking narrow bridges anymore.

also i'm trying to figure out if i want my scyther to be a scizor or a kleavor. right now my party is alakazam, scyther, floatzel, staraptor, luxray, and typhlosion. i'm probably going to replace floatzel with something that has dual-typing. eventually i'll probably have to do that with luxray and alakazam as well, but whatever.

So I'm flying through Obsidian Fieldlands on Braviary and I see a Gyrados flying hundreds of feet up in the air - is that normal or is it some kind of glitch? I mean I know it's half flying-type but still

It is not a glitch. Gyarados has, on rare occasions, been shown to fly in various media. In Pokemon X and Y, it was even allowed to be used in Sky Battles.

Not to mention, that Gyarados is a dragon (well a dragon in the sense that Charizard is a dragon).

lol you JUST saw that? on a whim I threw a feather ball at it from the ground and actually caught it first try, and yes I'm bragging because it was pretty fucking awesome. the actual gyrados was kinda shit, though.

The worst part is when the alphas use Double Edge to kill themselves.
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. it's not even like you can avoid it, either, since the AI aren't actually retarded and should you send out a ghost type to prevent it from using Double Edge, it will just use a different, probably super effective, move against your ghost type and knock it out. so frustrating.

Man, I was having a real bitch of a time stunning those tornado Pokémon quick enough to start a battle until I realized Jet Balls can stun them. Hell of a lot easier.

Also it’s good to know the distrust I had of Kamado, that potato mochi guy, and Volvo at the beginning was justified. All three of them had it out for me in one way or another, so it wasn’t just my imagination.

Fuck. I knew I should have switched to another Pokemon, but I decided to risk keeping out my Jolteon, and killed the Alpha Piplup that spawned.

If they’re not in Spacetime, just save right before battling them and they should respawn if you need to soft-reset.

Shit. That's a really good idea, and I can't believe I didn't think of it. Seems really obvious, now that you've said it. Definitely something to keep in mind for the future.

Isn't there a research task for catching a few while they're flying?

Very normal. It’s a static overworld spawn. Gyrados is based on the tale of the karp that climbed the waterfall…the dragon that changes into could always fly.

Yes. There is.

I almost like to think of it as training for Togekiss.

It’s also near a rather large waterfall too.

Training for Togekiss? Just go to that ledge in the Crimson Mirelands with all of the Gravelers. There's one flying around in circles that I've caught like ten times.

Edit: Scratch that, I was thinking of Togetic.

So this is being heavily talked about online today.
