If anyone is looking into getting a seed box Pulsed Media has some deal on at the moment. KYC is very lax and you can pay with crypto.

Forgot the price like a retard- it’s €1.99/m for life.
Pulsed Media frequently goes down like a cheap hooker. Gotten several warnings on private trackers as a result.

Still use them though.

EDIT: Also yes their support is basically AI run. It's more useful than the humans there, who are technically adept but unbelievable dicks for no reason.

They got Kim Dotcom and took down Megaupload.

Jk, storage is expensive still and DDL sites have to subsidize with fuckton of ads, and massive throttle free downloads in some way, plus they're the easiest to copyright strike.
I used to direct download anime back in the early 2000s via IRC. This was before torrents and megaupload / mega.

IRCSpy unfortunately got taken down years ago, and the torrent sites have stayed up. There used to be loads of blog sites hosting music, mostly rap albums, IIRC. Unfortunately I lost some of the best rap albums of the time (mainly early Lt. Dan remixes).

YggTorrent Teases a Comeback in September, Weeks After Arrests

YggTorrent was France's largest torrent site until a hacker gutted it in March. In July, the police arrested twelve suspected operators. That was not the end of it, however. Following a purported takeover, YggTorrent's domains are back online and counting down to a "grand return" on September 1 under a new team.

DrunkenSlug is having an issue where a bunch of spammers are posting "anime" files which have a legit sounding title but the file is something like "8d1bebcf86e2d292a15159f27857ca93yEnc" but with no file extension. every file has a completely different poster with a randomly generated name and email address

It's mildly annoying because Sonarr will grab them then go "WTF?" and I have to manually go and do a blocklist and search on them, meaning that some content isn't automatically downloading.

The only thing they seem to have in common is that all the titles have -AnoZu appended to the end.

Easy enough to fix by adding this to the "Anime LQ Groups" Custom Format

I would torrent (and have torrent before) if I had a VPS provider that was shady but not to the point where they would go and terminate my VPS without notifying me and keep on charging me for a service I wasn't even able to use anymore.

Looking at you HostSlick.

What do we think of "recertified" used eBay hard drives? How long do you think I can reasonably expect them to last?

I'm thinking of making a new data pool specifically for pirated media and cracked software. For something so relatively silly and trite, I'm fine with mystery meat that only lasts a year or two but if disks would cascade fail within months of being bought I'd rather not waste my time/money.

That's what I ended up getting, I've had them for two years and they're still running fine. But I bought them before the price of everything went up and I'd be worried that there are more scams now.

If they are enterprise drives and pass smart tests, I wouldn't mind too much.

If you're talking about recert brands like Water Panther and MDD, they're fine. They take old disks (that have already survived past their warranty period), run a scan for media defects, flash/replace the controller to reset all the counters to zero and slap their model number on it (i.e. to remove the original manufacturer's branding). So under the hood, you're getting an older Seagate, WD or Toshiba disk anyway that's proven it's durable by outliving its warranty.

The thing about HDDs is they're explicitly built to last exactly the length of their warranty period plus one month (give or take). Any disk that survives past its warranty and still returns expected performance (and reports zero errors) is an outlier (literally built above required spec, by fortunate accident) that is likely to survive indefinitely. HDDs are most likely to fail when they're brand new (they start life staring down the barrel that classic bathtub curve).

They're a good bargain, especially in a RAID setting where one failure won't kill your data. The 3-year warranty common for these disks makes them a no-brainer in this use case. Buy an extra (i.e. 1 more than you need for a new disk array), then if a disk actually croaks, you've still got a spare already up and running while the warranty ships you a replacement refurb to take the place of the spare. I've been running a 12-disk array of MDDs for 3 years without incident. I set up another array of 12 more last April. So far so good.

I'm sure this statement won't be true forever (all HDDs eventually fail) but I've actually yet to have a recert disk die on me at all. I've had about two dozen fail on me over the years in personal usage and they were all bought new. Yes, I'm aware clicking [Post Reply] will immediately provoke one of the MDDs to fail, but I'm taking that hit for this team because most of you lads are alright ❤️.

Anyone running recyclarr on their server should check if it’s still working, because the change from version 7 to 8 broke a lot of things so you will either need to redo your yml file or revert back to 7 until you have time to rewrite it.
