More or less why I never got all the piercings I wanted. It was such a mess to heal. Maybe things would be easier now with newer kinds of jewellery that are less likely to get snagged or pulled, but it just took so, so, so long to heal that it'll probably never happen at this point.
We know a lot more about piercing than we did even 10 years ago. I would wager that anyone who can be a stickler for rules is fully capable of healing any piercing, given that they do not have certain health conditions/vitamin deficiencies or w/e. It IS a lot of research and consistency, though.

It was one of those cases of making it through the process through sheer stubbornness. The only reason it even looks nice now is that it's in more or less the perfect location to show off any kind of jewelry without the angle of the piercing or a cleanly formed fistula mattering. I'd probably have to do the other ear in order to be sure I don't mess that hard won hole up in case things go just as poorly again even with modern know how and jewelry.

I've considered a septum, but my sister beat me to it. She also has a nostril and wears rings in both at the same time which is why I'm not sure now since the area just looks too busy. To be fair, her nose is larger and her rings are usually thick and ornate but I still haven't decided. Anyone have experience with faux piercings? Magnetic or clip on seem to be popular. My only concern is they'd fall out a lot.

I had a faux piercing before getting my now-retired septum. It was neither magnetic nor clip on, just one of these things:

Though I had it fall out a few times, it held surprisingly well. I do recommend getting clip on ones if you can find them. Magnetic ones sound iffy since they would definitely move around if you bumped them.
