Well, the 1200 is basically a 1300 that's been underclocked for some reason. Depending on the silicon lottery, you might be able to get all the way up to 4.0 GHz but you may only get to 3.5 GHz.

Why not spend a bit more and get a Ryzen 1400 and overclock it? Yes, it's a little more pricey but you get hyperthreading as well, and with stuff in general taking advantage of more threads it may be more future proof.

EDIT: The 1200 to 1400 only come with the Wraith Stealth cooler, which is a low profile Wraith Spire. If you get one of these and overclock it, you will need an aftermarket cooler.
I did consider one of the Ryzen 5 cpu's but I did consider Ryzen 3 since I want to save money while upgrading from an FX 8320. Only thing I really wonder is which was best for gaming while not being a dick to my wallet.

Edit: Took the list I made and swapped the cpu and cooler for a Ryzen 3 1200 and a Corsair H60. May just go with this and overclock, especially if overclocking is easy.

You can reach 3.8 with the stock cooler. Or I think you can buy a wraith spire for 10 bucks online and thats overkill for the 1200.
But h60 is good too if it has tje mounting bracket of course.
1400 would be better in cpu intensive games of course. It depends on what games you play the most.

At this point, I'm just going with a 1200 for budget reasons. Want to stay in the $500 range. Only thing I'm staving off on is an operating system (unless cloning it onto a back up drive and using it on another pc is good idea, at least so that way I could later format the cloned drive and use it's OS if that is possible) and I'll just stick with stock cooling for.

If you wanna go full ghetto, you dont even have to pay for w10. the only downside is that you cant personalize your background and you have the activation reminder, from time to time, in the bottom right corner.

Changing wallpaper is possible, just not from right clicking the background. IIRC, there was also a way of spoofing windows into giving the full version with no key used, but I think that may have been a fever dream.
