But see it's even stupider with the circular donations because they were all so intertwined that I doubt any of them were actually getting that much money. If I get a five dollar donation, then give out five one dollar donations, which are then given back to me as one dollar donations, according to Patreon I have received $10 in donations, but I still only have the five dollars, minus their charges. It's never surprising when SJWs reveal themselves to be materialistic, penny-pinching niggards.
Throwing around communist invective is harmless fun and all, but when you get between an SJW and his ability to budget in Pokemon Ultra Fire Sun Ruby Turbo Edition, shit gets real.
Given the amount of smugness and the illusion of control they have over their audience, they should be glad that Patreon is "trimming the fat" and allowing them to see who the true and honest fans were to begin with.
Notice how all the screenshots are people literally donating dollar menu money.
No that's old capitalism. New capitalism is "GIBES ME DAT" while breathing on your computer screen.Ok hold on, I’m confused as usual.
So let me use Indy Nidell’s pateron as an example.
https://www.patreon.com/thegreatwar
So if I’m understanding this, his 1800 or so first teir patrons at 3$ a month will now be charged about $3.35/month, his $100/month donators will be charged about $103/month. He’ll get more of his ~$17000/month (an increase from 88-95% would be about $1200 more for him), and the patrons know this.
I’m really confused how this hurts the creator and not the patron, they’re the ones paying more and the creator gets more. Like, they might lose patrons, but the 15 people paying Indy 100$ a month will probably continue paying 103$. But Indy makes a quality show and people are willing to pay for it even if the price goes up.
Isn’t that how capitalism works, you make something good and people will buy it?
I love how they're equally mad at both losing money and losing the fake image of importance they built up with circular donations. Hell I'd argue some of them are angrier at losing their veneer of popularity than their tugboat bux.
So Patreon is trying to punish people who get 1-2 dollar donations by people out of pity, people who donate so they can virtue signal that 'they're supporting these important issues', and people donating to their own patreon to get the biggest e-peen.
Is Patreon exceptional? Those three categories are like 95% of all Patreon donations.
The fact that this is going to sink the tugboats of many rat kings and professional victims is the best part of all.![]()
So yes, this will cut down on Patron spending. And mostly the Patrons who support multiple people. So less breadth of donations.
"Literally ruined Christmas". If Patreon's new policy means they're The Grinch, then their reactions are like the opposite of The Whos.
Didn't you sperg about this very topic a couple pages ago.I love how 38 cents can be described as most shocking.
