What would be more entertaining is if they would be forced to use Hatreon...which, for those who don't know, is the very eh 'conservative' version of Patreon. They are pro free speech and don't censor anything (similar to Gab, Minds, and some other pro free speech sites).

What would be amusing about this is that they would have to use the version of Patreon where all of the outspoken conservatives gather (Hatreon)...you know, despite being liberal 'artists'. :')

I am enjoying all of this way too much.

This literally allowed creators to be pulling in 20-30 cents a dollar more than they were before! It’s pro-creator.

Someone doing a standard $5-10 donation won’t notice the extra couple cents. Anyone who can afford to pay the $50-100 tiers a month also won’t notice or care about the extra cents.

The ONLY people who care are re people who are circle jerking payments to boost themselves and the people who’s content is so shit that people don’t want to be. Bothered.

My guess is that the people seeing lots of donators leaving are a part of the circle jerk clubs. If you really want to donate to someone, a handful of nickels isn’t going to be that much of a deal. And if you are so stripped for cash that 30 cents ruins you... don’t be donating. Simple as that.

Their reasoning is that increasing the cost for the end users decreases the amount the creatores earn, because end users will donate less.

Ironically enough, this is the exact same argument Conservatives uses to justify tax cuts - because tax increases actually decrease economic activity, therefore it ends up having a net negative on tax earnings on the long run.

People as a whole are absolutely shit at interpreting numbers and statistics rationally almost across the board. the vast majority of the chimpouts are because in the $1 bracket you're seeing a 33% increase. A 33% increase in anything ever pisses people off; That's supposed to be your coupon percentage off, not added on. It's the natural double-edge to the same psychology that makes Black Friday savings so appealing that suburban moms camp in freezing tents outside stores to buy already-overpriced retail.

People can afford it, they just don't like it and see it as cost-cutting you out of 33% more creators that you could be funding but aren't now because fees.

The changes don't really matter, but you should always have a second plan. Patreon and youtube could collapse suddently on a random day. You should -never- rely on someone else's for your life plans, be it in internet or a full time job at the bank, always be wary.
It's like when youtubers moved to espensive LA apartments and then went full on broke when ads paid 40% less
People like RLM still have experience as video editors, and can still find job in the entertainment industry, while people like h3h3 or boogie rely completely on platforms.

But a lot of these 'marginalized' people she's on about are just lazy cunts who don't want to get actual jobs. I know I'm preaching to the fucking choir, but seriously man. Like, Patreon is a whatever thing, if you want to see the content you love continue being made, cool, it's your money so do as you want, and at least with some people like, I'll pick LGR as an example, make decent stuff and if you want to support him to see more videos, more power to you. Back in the day (like maybe around 5-7 years ago) I'd watch some YouTubers who talked about and documented drama on the site (for example, shit e celebs at the time were getting themselves into) and one of the common things they kept saying was that YouTube money isn't going to last forever and that relying on that site for income was fucking stupid. It doesn't take much for these sites to permanently ban or demonetize you with no appeal especially as they break and rewrite their own rules, and even a few years ago losing adsense happened a lot.

Now we're seeing it happen all across the internet, as their poor choices finally manifest themselves with websites that gave cows easy money either cracking down or slashing payouts.

You would think that these people would think that it's a perfect opportunity for them to show Patreon who's boss and catter to this specific audience of trans-colored special snowflakes and do their own anti-late-capitalism Patreon who is totally SJW-leech friendly. But that, of course, would require them to not be all talk and no action.
