They said that its supposed to be out by early 2025 with a closed beta near the end of this year, but that can change at any time given how turbulent game development is nowadays.
 
I decided to lumber myself with regular SRS again and almost wrote myself into a corner with the lack of defensives and adding a bunch of QoL and uniques (Essence Glutton paired with Corpsewalker - hey, at least it made Bone Offering uptime a lot less cancer, block chance, hybrid life/ES, Commander of Darkness for the easy resistances, Guardian Blessing setup on Zombies for Anger, Ancient Skull). Spent some time theorycrafting with a friend to determine how to pull myself out of the rut and made some discoveries -
  1. I found that a new unique shield, Svalinn, seems pretty fun. It let me remove some block nodes from my tree to funnel into a small Armour cluster with Enduring Composure (easy Endurance Charges), and opened the possibility of getting Ynda's Stand for more Ward.
  2. Getting Ancient Skull and the Minion Offence mastery where my minions recover life from other minions dying, yet having Decay Ward anointed and other minion sustain seems counterintuitive, so today after work I'll consider changing the anoint to Charisma.
  3. Got rid of Precision and put in my spare points from the block chance removal into one minion accuracy point, which capped it for my skull goons. Now I have the room for Shield Charge+Faster Attacks or Arrogance+Vitality. Probably going to be the second, maybe I'll be able to get rid of Essence Glutton assuming my mana can also be maintained, and since I'm keeping the choice of getting Ynda's Stand open still it will let me maintain some "health" pool.
  4. I might get rid of Molten Shell, my only reactive defense, since I lack armour - or craft some better gloves and body armour to raise it up a bunch.
Overall, I've found the uniques in the game aren't bad, and it's gladdening that they put such niche shit in the game so that someone crazy enough out there tries to make it work. Love how my spiel just now seems autistic but in reality it's such basic stuff anyone who played the game for a bit already knew.
 
I used to be a big fan of PoE and played a lot but over time I've just grown exhausted of it. You need a PhD to actually make a functional build for higher levels (unless you copy someone else's which isn't fun, I like RPGs because I like buildcrafting), picking loot by hand will eventually give you carpal tunnel because ggg refuses to implement loot vacuum or an auction house because "muh friction", sending 80 messages to 80 retards just to buy a resist ring and getting no responses gets old after a while and at one point I just got tired of getting oneshot at high end maps.

PoE should be the kind of game you can chill on while watching netflix but GGG's retarded design philosophy has made it too much of a headache to play casually, I don't want to have to consult 30 different guides on which is the correct rotating syndicate cock to suck so I can get an ultra rare drop to use this obscure crafting technique to make it 3% more valuable then repeat x25 times so I can afford a piece of armor that makes so I get oneshot 0.1% less of the time.

Chris once said that if you make it to maps, GGG owns your soul forever. They are half correct, if you make it to maps they will own your soul until it gets sick of their bullshit, I used to love PoE but it feels like once their bullshit reaches your personal tipping point its extremely hard to return to it without feeling you could be playing a game that treats you like a human instead of a statistic so blatantly, I know that all game devs want to fuck you, but it feels like GGG doesn't even bother buying you flowers at this point.

I have a friend that Path owns body and soul, so I still play, but I would not seek this game out on my own under any circumstances now. Between the sheer complexity of build interactions, the nitty-gritty in-depth mechanics that you can either wiki or get fucked by, the schizophrenic game design*, and the fact that Kitava's Wild Ride keeps getting buffed, Path really aims to keep its whales happy and no one else.

*So what I mean by schizophrenic game design is that there's so many aspects of Path game design that are at war with themselves. Devs love adding new bullshit to kill you, the game is designed around either being able to live or deal damage. The problem is that with power creep over the years, if you try to drop in and out over several leagues there's a few new base types and some new uniques that push everything forward. Back in the day, like 4K health was really the target you're trying to hit for a build that mostly doesn't die to random bullshit, along with capped res and around 0% chaos res and 60% phys reduction. Now? You need 85% res, 6K health, capped chaos res, 90% phys res in order to not constantly get curbstomped by the high end shit. Everyone stacks mana reserve efficiency and aura effect because it's the only way to hit the numbers. level 21 auras, empower and enlighten, the right rares and uniques, you're stacking a level 30 aura with like 70% increased aura effect.
 
New Zizaran gauntlet is coming soon.
Seems a lot less gay than the last one, which I could not be bothered making it past act 2 during (because I died). Seems it is toned down quite a bit this time so people who aren't a streamer will actually play. Overall I like the gauntlets more than the races because I can actually participate these, but the GGG run prepatch events were much better.

As far as I've heard, it should be open to everyone. When they announced they were pushing the date back, the reasoning was to keep their word to players on cosmetics being shared between PoE and PoE2. I'm actually kinda impressed they went through with implimenting it and not just using it as bullshit marketing and changing course later.
 
I am fully prepared to have fun with poe2 for a few days before I am inevitably crushed by disappointment due to some insane design choices that no one saw coming
 
I'm very torn. On the one hand, I never thought PoE 2 was gonna come out and would be another pipe dream. On the other, I really want this to be another OW2 shitshow that kills the game because its become an abomination (also that would be the funniest outcome).
 
Tomorrow is the big reveal day. Surely this will save western civilization.
My hopes are that this is one of the best games I will ever play, the reality is it will probably be mediocre until 1-2 years of patches revert it back to basically playing the same as poe 1.

According to this article it will be $30 for a beta key which is the same price as the 3.0 beta key.
 
Watching all the media released so far, they've actually done the impossible. They've made a sequel that's an improvement in every single way. They removed a lot of the crafting randomness that means you don't sit there for an hour trying to minmax slots and hope to get lucky. They've got map items that do sensible stuff like give you a guaranteed movement speed increase on boots, shit like that. They've actually learned and progressed in the time of running POE instead of just starting back over with new graphics, wild.

-12 classes with 2 ascendencies a piece
-support gems apply per skill and slots increase with related stat
-orbs have been streamlined to make sense
-implicit skills per weapon type
-orbs add and remove prefixes one a piece
-white items are more worthwhile since you can't just strip them from any item any more
-have to run through campaign twice for the moment since the campaign isn't finished enough to get to end game as is
-end game is a giant map that goes forever that you unlock with keystones
-mapping has its own skill trees, so one for bossing, once for regular monsters, etc. So you can focus on what you like to do without needing to minmax per type

It's looking promising and has made me want to play it for a week till I get bored of RNG and the inevitable brick wall difficulty that you have to remove all fun to bypass.
