What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

One day I will rent a server, download a chinese LM, and run it endlessly until it decompiles Hoi4 and Vic2. Then I will merge the two into one and create the ultimate grand strategy game.

The Vic3 dev team will then cast themselves into the Baltic Sea out of shame. I will host the source code out of my Kakheti bunker and PDX's stock price will crash - unable to compete with my GNU glory.

Also I guess I will offload some calculations to the GPU to make the game run faster or something.
Make sure to give Pink Panzer and Pacifica, both Paradox employees, credit for inspiring you

Play the series chronologically, start out with EU1, put a couple thousand hours into it mastering every aspect of the game, then move onto the next title, and repeat.

Nah start with board game.

Alright, let me rephrase, which is the best one?
EU4. It's a behemoth to learn for somebody fresh but once you do it's very addicting. It has this "one more turn" quality to it then you look at the clock and its 3am and you have to get up for work at 6. If you want some guidance start with Portugal. No real enemies. big daddy Castile/Spain will protect you, you can create your little colonial empire and slowly learn all the little mechanics. Observing how the situation develops in Europe is fun on its own.

Where is this talking point coming from? I've seen it a couple times here and elsewhere, and it's just completely inaccurate. EU5 is insanely imbalanced in multiplayer, and the idea that EU5 is designed for multiplayer first in any way is just laughable.
It goes back to at least the early days of the Stellaris if not earlier where people would often talk about how the game was balanced around internal multiplayer games. Dunno if there was ever a source beyond "dude, trust me" but it was said so often that people just assumed it was true.

I believe it originally came from how Wiz off-handedly mentioned, either in the forums or one of those dev streams, that Stellaris was balanced with feedback from an inhouse multiplayer team. Given how schizo that game's development was, I can easily believe it.

I do not believe either EU4 or EU5 were mentioned to be balanced like way, however.

Eu4
its also easy to get into.

you can learn everything you need in 6 hours and everything else comes over time.
stuff like knowing the differences between tradepower and caravan power or any other trade modifier is not needed to play the game.
merchants send money to your capital market, market places and light ships give you a bigger share of the trade pie in their market region, thats all you need to know for the first 500 hours.

Stellaris was just a Mass Effect flavored League of Legends tournament this whole time.

Played Stellaris again, just to bug hunt. Found the Abandoned Terraforming, which is not very funny just fucks with people's OCD, where you just cant finish it and it just stays in the situation log and on the map, its apparently common this is patch. Found the much more entertaining one, where if you decide a genocidal war (anyone can, because the tech Existential Expulsion gives you the total war CB "Wipe Them Out) against a set of enemies which includes a nomadic one, disable their worldship but white peace out before everyone is defeated, you can end up with an arkship and it is functional, just lack the techs to be really useful. You also cant delete it.

The real hilarious one works as a great hard lose too. First, you need a Hegemony-type federation that just got its ass kicked and hegemon annexed in a total war. Second, have an awakened Benevolent Interventionist empire angry at you(insults, terror bombing, etc.) and declare on you. Just as you accepted the surrender of the federation, accept subjugation to the FE. Then, because they are nice guys, they decide to join the federation as well and immediately become its president, dragging you along with them. Now you cannot leave, because you cannot declare war on your overlord to break free of servitude because of the federation, but you cannot leave the hegemony type of federation without the approval of your president, who is your overlord. Would be a softlock already, but add the redditoid strongwomyn crisis to the mix, who will start by declaring war and destroying all FEs and she cannot be attacked until the event line progresses enough, and you will be dragged into a war, so fleets will be summoned you out of thin air until you lose, as the crisis cannot be ended.

There is another softlock in that questline, where if you fight and kill her colossus too early, then it becomes impossible to finish the event and the crisis progresses indefinitely.

I'll probably pick it up on inevitable sale
Paradox kinda screwed themselves with their business model.

The game is good -> Oh... they're going to spam DLCs and constantly break the game. I shall wait till it is done and on sale.
The game is shit -> Oh... I'll throw some pennys at them later for a laugh a few years from now when it is on sale.

I am playing EU4 Anbennar but my processor struggle to get a correct speed and my OCD is flaring since it's not perfectly fluid lmao.

But I fucking love this mod, way more fun and more content than the base game.
The performance got worse after that last major update that added the robot race or whatever. Still, I really enjoyed my last campaign forming the Black Demesne.
