while trying to stay one step ahead of the AI who is a perfect middle manager.
The AI in stellaris is completely no functional. They don't even build buildings or districts half the time. They are are not a middle manager they are the guy that remotes into work and does 1 hour of work and then sits on YouTube all day.
I can't make robots with emotions in a society that mimics a monarchy (like the Glitch from Starbound), because the machine species is locked into the gestalt ethic.
Stellaris has had individual machines for years now.

Anyway, what is the point of hoi4? People say it is the best military game out of the Paradox games, but I watched someone play it as Italy and they war decced turkey, Greece, and Romania all at once and beat all of them, with basically no unit diversity. Stellaris seems at least equal since you can customize your navy to exactly what you want.

Sublime doesn't (or used to) support different encoding which makes editing Paradox's YML files impossible. Either way, I'm fairly certain VS Code has a plug-in for Paradox modding.

The vanilla HoI IV AI is functionally retarded and incapable of understanding the game's own logistics system. Rather than focus on AI strategies or improving units, it simply spams infantry units until it runs out of equipment/manpower (sometimes it may invest in tanks). This is an improvement over the AI at game launch though, as the made the AI value airplane production so much that it just didn't produce land or naval units.

It's even worse than that: the AI doesn't understand basic unit composition, unit concentration, or strategic targeting of victory points. Mods like ExpertAI partially get around the retardation through heavy scripting and hardcoded division/equipment design, but even those mod writers explicitly indicate they cannot control what the AI does with its divisions, nor begin to enable use of things of airborne divisions. Even the devs have acknowledged their AI is functionally brain dead, but lol, lmao, "average HOI player uses easy/very easy difficulty so no reason to prioritize improvements."

Tack on the utter insanity that is their focus tree design and interaction (read: lack of it) between country trees and no shocker the AI is simply there as a ephemeral retarder to immediate player victory. Paradox has long given up making actual games in favour of tranny-centric light novel experiences you enjoy while pumping it to colourized images of Huey Long and realized dreams of successful anarcho-communism.

I like how the benefits of William the Conquerer's bloodline enables a very manwhore style of play. If any given woman with high skills or inheritable traits is able to reproduce, you bet your ass I'm seducing her. No opinion penalty for bastards and free legitimisation for the ones that prove to be worthy heirs.

When playing as Germany this actually works because France and the USSR not understanding these mechanics is canon.

Paradox successfully kept with the times as their customer base of autistic gamers who want to paint the map to form Grossdeutschland transitioned into troons who have troll's remorse and are born again leftoids that want to jerk it to power fantasies about their special snowflake ideology.

HOLY FUCK, that's the beefiest Georgia I've ever seen. Is it normal for Georgia to blob out like this in EU5?

Mainland Spain and outlying territories. Getting the Iberian Wedding with Aragon had basically no chance of happening, so I had to kill them with wars. I really, really do not like the max warscore limiter for peace deals. I know it's there to slow down expansion, and it does a good enough job at that, but I still do not like it. Chipping away at an enemy over the course of a few decades just isn't as satisfying as gobbling everything in one war and growing a third of your size in just 5 years.

Spain's colonies in the New World. Once Mexico is locked down, I'll go expand into New Granada, Peru and the Plata. What I want to do for this run is build Spain's OTL Empire, stick to their OTL territories, and try to keep the empire together until the very end.

for EU5 yes. Georgia is surrounded by states primed to collapse (GH is one defeat away from proccing a disaster, for example) and small minors, and the Ottoblob currently doesn't consolidate enough of Anatolia to be a threat, often checked by a resilient Mamluk state. There are no other regional rivals for them, so they can blob relatively free. (Even Timur doesn't go that far West usually).

New meta: William The Bachelor.

As William the Bastard/Conqueror, remain unmarried and foster a huge court of illegitimate children through repeatedly introducing debutantes, seducing and turning them in to lovers. Legitimise the best candidiate for an heir once you approach old age. I call it Bastard Elective.

Now attempting the achievement for taking all of North Africa as a Chinaman. I'm using 769 Zhou Ding start, as a vassal under the Western Protectorate. I don't want to disable Horse Lords but my God is it making this an awful experience. If the protector general would just attack the raiders at the same time as I do, we would beat them back, but he rarely does, instead sitting in his capital watching me lose a battle we could easily win with his help and then letting them rape and pillage his whole realm. Fucking retard. I have to choose the business focus just to keep up with the ransom money I'm constantly paying.

I read that sucking the Chinese Emperor's dick until you have enough Grace to request he blow up Tibet is the best way forward. Gaining independence from the Western Protectorate is surprisingly easy, it's having places to expand and surviving the nomad rape that's the problem.

Also Taoism blows. I keep trying to swap to Buddhist so I can do war, is there a surefire way to convert rather than events?

I posted about trying to do this achievement forever ago in this thread, My runs always started out with me finding some muslims willing to give me concubines then getting enough piety to secret comvert then openly converting to islam, then joining the assassins to try and climb through the ranks for higher rank benefits.

Somehow, Mana returned.
Political Influence

Mana is back on the menu boys!

Seriously, though as you have noticed we had a lot of places in the game we end up with insanely varied gold costs for various actions, or weird usages of legitimacy or stability. This was creating balancing issues that were not present in EU4.

Political Influence is a new country currency, ranging from 0 to 100, and it represents your ruler's accumulated political capital. This currency if kept high increases the base crown power by up to 20%.
You gain it primarily through the total abilities of the ruler, and from the active ability of members of your cabinet. There are also laws and privileges that impact how much you will get from it.
