I think most NAFO people are anti russia because of the invasion of a sovreign nation and the spillage of innocent blood that came from it, less so the homophobia which is pretty rampant in eastern europe. There's a billion arguments on both sides of the political spectrum of why Russia isn't worth supporting, Eurasian Ideology/4th Political Theory are good examples.
Cool so why did every libshit that called Iraq a war for oil and didn’t give a fuck about Kuwaits sovereignty suddenly become passionate Ukrainian nationalists?

Yeah that entire shitshow was deliberately hidden to setup a mythological narrative. So much bullshit went down in the 1930s that was straight up ignored and is only now making a comeback as the shadow of the WW2 myth is starting to die.

One of my favorites is how the UK and France almost pushed the USSR to turn Molotov-Ribbertrop into a full alliance with a supremely retarded plan to sneak attack the Soviets by bombing the fuck out of the Baku oil fields in the Azerbajani SSR, under the moronic delusion that this would cause the entire economy of the USSR to collapse and so deprive Hitler of his economic partner. This is the sort of brain-dead idea even a HoI4 normie with zero comprehension of history would balk at (even if you used a stand in fictional world they might still realize this is a retarded idea).
lol Russian oil being crippled is what kicks off the plot of red storm rising

Probably because Ukrainians are white and aren't an awful petrostate for the worst people in the universe. Gulf Arabs are really easy to hate tbh.,

One Proud Cuck of all people saying other map gamers have dogshit opinions must be a fruidian slip man there's no way. Is the guy still shilling for vic 3 or has he accepted the game is terrible? I saw they put out a naval rework or something but I cant bring myself to play that game again. Everytime I open it I just feel compelled to close it and play my
100th prussia game in Vic 2.

Iraq war ≠ Gulf War. It's morally wrong to invade another country, it doesn't matter who does it. Iraq was wrong to do it, was warned repeatedly to withdraw and suffered the consequences. The manner of these consequences was somewhat harsh (highway of death & lengthy sanctions), but it was nowhere near the fuckup that was the Iraq War (2003).

CK3 redemption arc would be the funniest result of this. I do hope it will be good, but I'll wait until they really outline how the ecclesiastical gameplay is like before I predict if By God Alone will be good or just okay.
Thank you, Bokoen and Null, for making this Off-Topic thread unusable for its primary purporse for the last few days. In other news, I am finally, for once in the entire month of May, not busy, so I will post my analysis of the CK3 DDs I missed either today or tomorrow, time permitting.
As promised, the analysis of Trade Vision and Puppets & Theocratic Play.
Trade Vision:
  • As stated before, it is based on a supply and demand system of buildings, creating both, and markets via duchies. Same stuff mentioned in the initial DD
  • Trade goods are sorted into categories so some demands are for the category rather than the specific good (something I wish EU5 and V3 had).
  • Trade routes are managed by Traders who are family members or Associates, and the effectiveness of the route is affected by their skills.
  • Trade posts are buildings a Republic (notably not mentioning Merchant characters) rulers can make in foreign counties to benefit themselves.
  • Roads are created in response to trade routes, and improve as a trade route continues to exist.
Pretty simple all considered, a fairly basic market economy simulation, dumbed down enough to be usable as a single character. Certainly more interesting and requiring more engagement than the embarrassment that was CK2's "system" of pay money to set up a trade post, collect money. However, a lost opportunity of making trade interact with other systems is there, where things like raiding or adventurers simply don't interact with it, and thus denying some depth, pretty emblematic of CK3 development tbqhwy.

Puppets and Theocratic Play:
  • Puppets are a way to lean on spiritual authorities to do what you want, basically like hooks but just for priests.
  • You use puppets as the way you interact with most spiritual things, like making rites, as a non-theocratic character.
  • Ecclesiastical succession is not necessarily via dynasty, and if you lack a dynastic heir, you continue on as the new ruler of said title.
  • You can cultivate your successor to maintain dynastic continuity.
  • You cannot declare war on Christians as an Ecclesiastical ruler (strange tbqh)
  • The pope has a lot of powers over all of the Catholic world, unsurprisingly
  • Most requests that would go to the Pope are now fed to the local Ecclesiastical authorities to reduce event spam for the PC pope (also much more historically accurate)
  • College of Cardinals FINALLY
A lot of stuff that really needed to get added, but less exciting than the last By God Alone DD, but nonetheless interesting. I feel like the Ecclesiastical gameplay will be a bit janky and might require some working out of kinks and revisions to get fun from what I see. I hope they make fighting upwards as such characters to be appropriately cutthroat.

I gonna buy this game based solely on this glowing review from reddit:

Played the demo for about 5 mins & the UI + the fact that it seems like it's just a hOI4/Stellaris crossover makes it redundant. Also the way the nations are in the 2090 or whatever start date is stupid with India being a superpower (lol and owning Bhutan, but not Pakistan), along with other borders that just don't make any sense.

I know Vicky three does the lighting need can be solved with wood coal oil or electricity for example and each good satifies the need a different amount.
They've added heating as a need, but not cooling? Absurd! The ice trade used to be huge! Entire lakes were made, frozen, then shipped south to serve as refrigeration, and only later replaced by mechanical refrigeration we have now.

What happens is that you set your Urban Areas buildings to use a production method for lighting, which provides the Services Good to the local market. Wood, Gas and Electric streetlights are just different mutually exclusive options to pick from.
