Now with stuff like Chat-GPT, expect more of the same.
Ah, true. I bet there's a ton of Indians offering "translation" services.

Honestly, though, my first thought was to ask around on those websites where you can pay Japanese people to speak with you, so you can practice speaking. I just said Fiverr because it got the point across in a way people are more familiar with.

I'm a few chapters into the remake and honestly it's better than I was expecting, albeit at 30fps which isn't ideal but I'll live. The music has been mostly good too. Maybe it's a thing where it works better in-game as opposed to on its own? I bought the Gamecube badge just in case.
Rawk Hawk's theme sounds horrid on its own, but works better in practice with the greater depth of ambient noise and more complex crowd sounds.

The Smorg sequence was butchered, in my opinion, though. The original buildup sounded more alien, like an otherworldly threat was attacking, which fit with the more supernatural and mysterious themes of the chapter.

They changed the buildup to have a more comical guitar, which throws that tone completely out the window. The remixed boss fight theme, in turn, does sound fittingly more unusual, but it sacrifices the intensity which carried the music and accentuated the setting of fighting on a moving train.

The brand new tracks are all phenomenal, though. The new Atomic Boo theme is my new favorite and the song for the Pit of 100 Trials level 50-100 is excellent.

Ok, I do really like the new end credits sequence. When I first beat it back in 04 I remember being disappointed that it didn't have something like the parade endings from SMRPG and PM64.
I agree, I really liked the parade sequence from the other games and I think it's kind of clever to have the end credits be a curtain call.

You can tell the trannies are tourists because they only care about "muh trans representation." None of them actually give two shits about any of the other censorship new to the remake and if you bring it up they'll just retort with "you lost chud!"

Everything is a culture war to them. They don't like anything they attach themselves to. They leach it for validation like a parasite and then move on to the next body.

Vivian restoration mod is on BasedMods now
Do they fix anything outside of her?

no. unfortunately
This is my issue with this whole culture war drama. The only thing that seems to be a concern is Vivian. The majority do not care about everything else they censored. Hopefully someone releases a patch that at the very least makes the games dialogue closer to the original GameCube localization which was far superior to this politically correct reddit rubbish

Has anyone tried getting into the Mario & Luigi games? I've been making an attempt recently and I just can't do it. There's no real story or character development outside of the jokes and the jokes imo aren't very funny at all. Then there's the obsessive tutorials.

Currently stuck on the carrot mini game in Bowsers Inside Story. I'll probably just give up and replay Paper Mario N64 again.

Apparently one of the guys on GameBanana is thinking about doing a full 2004 restoration.

Also, the Vivian mod also changed Three Shadows to Shadow Sirens, and someone else made a mod to restore the catcalling goombas from the start.

Good to hear. 2004 mod + 60fps mod and a mod fixing the changes made to attacks could make the game a decent enough version to play.

Superstar Saga and Partners in time are the most real RPG experiences of those games, bowser's inside story and beyond while good, go in too hard on gimmicks for my liking

I've tried both. My issue is I just can't get invested in the story. In the Paper Mario games especially Thousand Year Door partners and other characters have actual personalities outside of being played for laughs. In Mario and Luigi almost every character only exists to either push gameplay forward or act as a two dimensional joke.

I think the fact that they're just kind of silly is the appeal for most people.

I can get that, as someone that tried to replay through them recently I wasn't super interested but that's more because I find the gameplay of Mario RPG Seven Stars and Paper Mario more enjoyable

Paper Mario games are not about the story. People that tell you this are liars or weebs or whatever.

Paper Mario is a competent turn-based combat system with partners and a well-executed action command mechanic in a explory world that has backtracking.

That is the magic everyone loves. Want more? Bug Fables gets close. More still? Maybe Costume Quest? Maybe? Even more? Well there really isn't anything.

I really wanna disagree with you, but considering how hard the early games (including the SNES RPG) rely on the "collect 7 stars to save the world"? Yeah...

That said, the characters absolutely made you forget you're playing the same basic plot yet again.
