Runelite makes it a nearly modern experience so you really don't have an excuse to not give yourself Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Good Call on making this thread, I was also surprised regarding the lack of an OSRS thread (Especially with Ice Poseidon climb to notoriety started with being an Ex-Runescape Streamer).

By the way, OpenOSRS is even better than Runelite (it's a Runelite Fork that kept all the plugins that Jagex Demanded be removed, and enables you to load custom plugins either locally or through Github repos). If you or anyone else decides to try the OpenOSRS Client, some Devs I can vouch for regarding their custom plugins (Consistently Good Quality) are as follows.

Owain94, xKylee, Soxs, Ganom, ImNo, Illumine & Deadzone.

There are plenty of other good developers, but too many to list (The barrier to entry is minimal provided you have Basic Java skills), but definitely don't go downloading every .jar calling itself an OpenOSRS plugin either (could be malware or some other BS).

I'll update the OP with this if the thread gets bigger, thanks.

I'm still fascinated by the black market that Runescape/OSRS still has. It's still rife with scammers, cheaters, botters; pretty much everything that you had back in the day. The big addition since then has been the gigantic influx of Spanish-speaking players who are all from Venezuela who sell gold to feed their families because they can make more money doing that than they can from almost any other profession there. I looked up the anti-cheat team lead on Twitter and it looks like, on average, they remove about $33,000,000 worth of gold from the game due to botting and real-world trading every year.
Have they allowed the free market to return to the game at least? I was out once they made it impossible to make my fortune by selling coal and lobbies to individual players.

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread on OSRS earlier with how much autism and petty drama there is in both the pvp and skilling community. The high level community (HLC) would obsess over a site called crystalmathlabs (CML) that worked like a separate leaderboard using Efficient Hours Played (EHP). They have different leaderboards for each skill, account type, and xp gained in a set amount of time. One of my favorite moments from the HLC was when a player decided to sit in his own shit for 2 hours to get second on one of the Smithing leaderboards.

Good time-waster or multi-tasking game, but I'd be hesitant to post my account on here. The Jagex janitorial team are rumored regularly audit accounts that post in /v/'s OSRS/RS3 general threads (though given it's /v/ they could just be autists in game and asking for it) and I wouldn't be surprised if that wound up happening here. Still if a CC ever starts up I'd probably join.

With regards to the game itself, Jagex has been heavily hinting that a huge update is going to be revealed very soon, and my fingers are crossed for it being Quest 150. My money's on that milestone update being either a retelling of the iconic Return of Lucien storyline or a retelling of the Menaphos storyline, personally. I would be happy with both.

EDIT: And given the game was recently released on Steam, coupled with the fact the official client is borderline-unusable by modern standards and sensibilities, here's a handy way to make Steam boot Runelite instead of the official client:

1. Right-click Old School RuneScape in your Steam library, and select Properties.
2. It should open into the General tab of the Properties by default, so simply type the folder address for your Runelite executable (In my case this looked like "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\RuneLite\RuneLite.exe" %command%).
3. Make sure you include the "quote marks" around the address.

Man, reading this wants me to go get my account. However, I don't want to go to the wildy to finish quests.
tbh Wildy is 98% pk'er free outside of the major hotspots. Rev caves and hunter spots are the main ones so if you avoid them you'll be fine.

And even then, dragonhide armor exists and there are some good cost efficient weapons that could be taken into the wildy. Just because you can die to players and lose your stuff to them doesn't mean you have to risk breaking your bank to do some quests.

Jebrim going homeless for a time for agility xp gains is hard to top tbh.

This nigga got 200,000,000 Agility XP (The Xp cap for levels ingame) on 5 different accounts over the course of a decade!
I am not implying you didn't know, just saying in general; That's WMD levels of Autism right there.

I second OpenOSRS, the devs are great and not assholes. Ganom had some great cheaty plugins I heavily abused. If you're gonna play then it's the best client.

So you all know, if you use OpenOSRS, there is a custom plugin that can auto-world hop if X number of players (either within your level range or in general) are within the defined radius of tiles (I believe the default set is wide enough to account for all potential PVP attack ranges), you will be auto world hopped to the next world over before anyone even has the chance to attack you (unless you were previously in combat, then the standard 10 second timer applies); Now, of course, functionality like this is blatantly against Jagex TOS (Risk of getting banned), Although to date no evidence has come out to indicate Jagex could know which plugins people are using (otherwise everyone continuing to use plugins they demanded Runelite removed would be autobanned by virtue of having them enabled); However, this also doesn't mean you should go nuts using full fledged bot script plugins (Botting without an actual Bot Client thereby avoiding Bot Client Detection, but still ban worthy) because while using OpenOSRS is not recognized as being against Jagex TOS (you need to specifically agree to bypass compliance before you use their client should you choose to use rule breaking plugins), the Bot Detection/Anti Cheat team will definitely recognize the patterns of bot-like behavior on your account if you bot long enough and you will absolutely get banned.

Bottom line, using the World Auto Hop plugin for the few minutes or so you're in the wilderness is so benign and would be used rather inconsistently (because you cannot control when other players will be in the area) that a pattern cannot realistically be established (otherwise you'd be banned) and Jagex has no way of knowing what plugins you're using in particular (Hence why people are able to make use of previously banned plugins from Runelite on OpenOSRS without penalty).

Here's the original post where the Jmods clarify what type of plugins they would not allow to be used on runelite https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/another-message-about-unofficial-clients?oldschool=1

Cheat plugins are hilariously easy to get away with in Runescape. Short of one-tick swapping gear and using the proper prayer against a PKer you're not going to have a problem, and even then the good plugins can do it in the safest way possible. It's been a while since I've played so I can't say anything about specific devs or plugins (Ganom has the best).

Even botting is decently easy to get away with as long as you bot while using a proxy.

I assume you mean botting with the bot script plugins on Open OSRS, not an actual bot client right? I'd be genuinely surprised if anyone still used bot clients besides gold farmers.

Actual bot scripts that hook the vanilla client. This was a while back so the major bot providers didn't really support Runelite/OpenOSRS.

During the lockdowns I grinded and grinded to level 99 cooking after getting level 90 one Saturday. Decided to commit to the grind that week and I did it.

Thanks to Lumbridge Basement Bank.
