is OSRS still pozzed or is the troon menace losing their grip? I retired from FFXIV recently and thinking about playing runescape again

We recently got Mod North (Mod Based) in charge of the game, and one of his first decisions in charge was to cancel the complete pride event which caused the usual suspects to have a fucking meltdown only to have the exact same bad faith arguments they smugly used on everyone else thrown right back in their faces, and then I think some troondevs got fired, too.
Also he's apparently helping lead a charge against MTX in RS3.

Yea I heard about the fag parade getting canceled this year but didn't know if they reneged on that or not, but it sounds like the pendulum is swinging back. I guess imma have to reinstall runelite 8)

Jagex is a company, and companies only renege on decisions like that if there is substantial monetary loss to them, or a potential public image loss.
Of which there was neither, you can compare the ratings loss from no more faggotry to the steam ratings from the disastrous poll about infesting the game with MTX.
Also one of the funniest things to read was fags going "Well akshually every June I paid for my friends to all go to the march together :))" when it actually means "I paid for like 4 bonds with my in game cash-stack and gave them to my faggot buddies."

This made me laugh so hard. You stopped playing OSRS because of troons only to go to the most troon infested MMO? Absolutely come back, there's a reasonable amount of based players to the point where you can regularly see funny offensive names.
Not me having the biggest smile as I start the new Scrambled! Quest knowing exactly what was going to happen the second that fucker Alan left. Gotta love the pure humour quests they do
I didn't see the ending coming, that quest was a really good time. The egg reminds me of Plank from Ed, Edd, and Eddy.

I took a stab at the delve boss, it's pretty fun. I'm nowhere near good enough to reach level 8, but those early levels definitely felt engaging. I've been torn between this and rimworld, but I don't have a lot of solid AFK grinds left on my main to play while playing rimworld. I'm waiting on a couple of friends to start a GIM with.

Yeah as someone that doesn’t have super bis I’m getting consistently good at 4 clears with a +2/3 immediate run back, I’ll run a level 5 if I got good supplies

I’m just running scobo using its spec as much as possible for free 10 dmg because even if you hit a 0 the burn still applies, the punish mechanic helps speed kills up to (multi hitsplat weapons + str bonus do a huge chunk of damage when you melee the boss when it has the double prayers up and charging his laser)

No drops yet but I really do like this boss and seeing that wave 2 is the start for uniques doesn’t really wear me down for not being able to super push.

Used to play the fuck out of osrs and quit when sailing passed polling a year or two back. Is anyone here playing on the Lost City 2004 private server/preservation project? Its pretty low pop and there's not a lot of content out atm (development is also slow) but the level of attention to detail it has is crazy. I had been dreaming for a progressive runescape experience that mirrored 04-07's content releases for a very long time. Basically what I wanted osrs to be. The devs actually take the time to program period accurate bugs back into the game, like being able to use rune axes at 1 woodcutting. Really respect and appreciate what these guys are doing, so if you feel bored with osrs at any point in time don't hesitate to check it out (not a shill or anything I just really think highly of this project).

I stopped playing runescape a little while after rs3 happened. FFXIV wasn't as pozzed back then. I put up with the shitty community for a long time but Dawntrail was the straw that broke the camel's back. Now that I'm going back to OSRS I have to start from scratch because obviously my 20ish-year-old account is on rs3 now (:_(

The early game for OSRS is unironically the most fun if you take your time and don't just try to speedrun and play optimally.
It's very nostalgic, to experience content as it was back then at a low level.
OSRS to me is a strange game because the start is fun, the middle is a hellish grind, and the endgame is fun again.
Then again that's just MMOs

This is an excellent time to do so, there's a lot of new content revolving around making the early-mid game more interesting. I wrote out all whole thing of suggestions on things I'd look to focus on unlocking as a new account, but that seemed gay. Just be open to the new content, check out Varlamore and the low level bosses which you can realistically start at 43 prayer and wearing rune armor. Scurrius, Amoxicillin, and Perilous Moons are when the game starts picking up as far as I'm concerned. All great new content. Avoid the graceful trap, you don't need it for anything other than questing. Good luck!

Game owners decide to stop having pride parades -> Game breaks all records for number of players

Curious.

I'm genuinely surprised the WoW tourists didn't go to RS3 before trying OSRS. The combat system is much closer to WoW
RS3 isn't nearly as mainstream as OSRS. When do you ever see RS3 memes in the wild, or even people talking about it outside of /r/runescape or the RS3 thread on here? I can probably count on one hand the number of content creators for RS3 that gets above 1k views a video 🤔
When people say they play "Runescape" or they've heard about it recently, 95% of the time they're talking about OSRS.

What hurts the game most is the playerbase being autistic about min-maxing and being efficient.
I really enjoy the idea of chunkman for this reason, the autistic shit they come up with to scrape by makes some of the best content there is for the game
