OSRS is one of the few games I can think of that aren't extremely obscure where I still see people calling each other faggots and niggers on a regular basis. I cannot even begin to imagine who thought this was a good idea.
I logged in today for the first time in a long while and one of the first things I saw was someone calling another person a spick.

It's a game with Angloid developers. I'm actually surprised that it's not worse. I'm guessing they realized that this was going to be a nice big honeypot to ban people since the same thing happened when they introduced the unpolled fag scarf which was the impotus of the original shitstorm years ago. AFAIK the only fag content developer they had was behind that and he hasn't worked there for years.

OSRS is late to the party, WoW has had an entire city district dedicated to trans visibility and representation since the day it launched back 2004. Just check out the Apothecarium in Undercity. :smug:

What elements are they referring to? What needs to be changed? Runescape isn't a controversial game. they're only inviting controversial shit in by making these indescript changes.
As a long time player that's the part that of the news post that actually bothered me the most, to me it announces that they already have identified stuff they want to fuck with, and you better think that it will be unpolled.
There is a lot that can be changed, from possibly offensive depictions of other cultures, like the bushmen-like people they have in karamja to the pseudo arab people of Al Kharid, to old burried dialog and object description, they WILL find shit to change for no reason while the core game needs attending.

The Persons of Gender working at Jagex right now, that's who. I've seen enough RS3 mods with colored hair to know that as OSRS is taking over as Jagex's main cash cow they will want to clean it up.

I've heard it floated that Throne Of Miscellania could be changed to allow for same sex marriage. It's a quest where you need to convince a prince/princess to marry you, depending on your character's sex.

I joked that in Al-Karid they throw LGBTP+ people off of the rooftop agility course

Just shows that the playerbase is old enough to have seen the effects that clown world has on the things they love. Doubt it accomplishes much because any pushback will be seen as "hate".

The core game is fine, it's the best it has ever been but it wasn't great to begin with. If anything, it makes things less grindy for everyone which is good considering the game is super easy except for a few instances.

I haven't played OSRS in a few years, but I thought this gay shit was over when that faggot Mod Wolf fucked off from the dev team, but I guess not. Fagex being Fagex ever since I started back in 07.

I doubt anyone actually cares about what Fagex's stance on the gays is. Whatever gay artist they hired now probably pitched the idea during one of their meetings and there wasn't a manager or higher-up that had the balls to bring up what happened in 2017.

I hate that you can't even escape into a goofy medieval fantasy world without seeing this kind of stuff. Woke Jagex is lame and I'm probably going to switch to an RSPS.

I liked Runex last time I played it, with regard to private servers, although it's been a while. There are some very edgy boys on there which usually means good quality gatekeeping. Unfortunately most people don't use text chat but that is also a problem with OSRS or RS3. Exp multipliers are fucking wild though on that PS so if you're looking for an experience closer to official it's probably not gonna be up your alley. I liked it because I really didn't have time for months-long grinds, as I'd imagine most people don't in adulthood. Hell I don't even know how I ever had time to grind on it in 2005 and still do homework and other activities.

I suppose let it serve as a reminder to all of us: gatekeeping is important, and the only people who bitch about gatekeeping are the people the gate was meant to be keeping out. I remember spending a lot of time on the RS forums back in the day and the gatekeeping was rough. Now hardly anyone uses it and those who do don't really have anything insightful to say.

You cant call people niggers on runescape anymore they censored it

I don't mind the edginess. That's part what official RS is missing in my opinion. The pc chat filter that you can't turn off really bugs me, you can't even call people faggots or retards any more. I remember some hilarity ensuing because they had inadvertently made Scandinavian languages impossible to use for a short period of time when they first implemented it.

This is my main gripe with private servers. That and the donation P2W element some have. The only half-way decent one I ever played was one of the earlier 06scape servers when that guy named Ali ran it. I think I'm going to end up on Vidyascape mostly because there aren't donation benefits and they have a good track record with uptime, but that x2.25 xp multiplier might take some time to get used to.

I know I'm an outlier with this opinion but I like the longer grinds. I think it makes the later-game stuff more rewarding, and it gives me something mindless to pay attention to when I have downtime while I'm at work.

It appears they care more about "third party clients" than botters or even making new content. I don't mind having been banned, shitty company.

It's the current year.

I noticed that nobody actually chronicled the Pride 2022 event (as in, the mini-quest you do to get the rainbow flower crown), so I thought I'd do it to see what it was like. It's a tiny fetch-quest to get some flower seeds so that a gay dwarf can plant flowers in every color of the rainbow. They even spell out for you the answer to each riddle that tells you where to get the seeds, in case you couldn't somehow solve these riddles. Two small things I noticed: One of the flower merchants is literally named Wolf and wears a wolf mask and wolfskin cloak. I'm guessing this is a furry stand-in:

And to get the last seed you get from two gay guys, after you help this random lesbian couple come out to each other. The weird thing is, they went back and changed the appearances of the four NPCs in this part of the quest. Below is how they looked when I did the quest, from an older video:

And here's how they look now:

This struck me as weird because one of the gay dudes originally had an awful haircut and bright purple beard, which used to be a symbol for gay support until the rainbow became more popularized:

But why swap the appearance of the lesbians and give the black one a pale flower crown instead of the rainbow one? Strange changes to make to a limited-time event. Hasn't been taken out yet, despite Pride Month being over.

I guess even Old School Runescape couldn't evade the Modern Era forever. I could make some kind of argument to keep the gender-swapping part in Recruitment Drive as some kind of Lord of the Rings reference alluding to the fight between Eowyn and the Lord of the Nazgul, but it's too late for that now. The jokes of the past must be re-written and brought up to fit the sentiments of the present. It's enough to make me want to get on the /v/ private server. I know this must be a coincidence, but isn't it funny that the moment Null gets back into Runescape, this news comes out? Once again, the universe conspires to poz-load everything that Null enjoys.

With every year that passes I'm more and more happy that I quit after that 'Evolution of Combat' bullshit they pulled, long before OSRS was even a thing so you just had to fucking deal with it. It was preceded by the boneheaded move to kill off free trade, which was bad enough in my opinion. They claimed it was to 'stop real-world trading' but then never actually fucking banned the bots who were harvesting resources to be used in RWT. You could grind woodcutting exp for weeks at a time, reporting the same fucking bots multiple times, and they'd always be there to silently greet you the next day.

At this point I've pretty much watched every franchise I ever enjoyed get destroyed by the tendrils of this retarded mind virus, I guess it was only a matter of time until RuneScape joined those ranks. At least there are always private servers, anyway, using much older source codes and clients. It's 2022, everything MUST be lame.

"Everyday we stray further from Saradomin's light"

It's mostly a game played by bots, goldfarmers and Null (probably the only organic being currently playing), i cannot think of a playerbase that could care less of a shit about being inclusive. They rioted on Falador because it was an unnecesary inclusion that reeked of political agenda and virtue signaling which is something people try to escape from when they play vidya.

Never in my life i've seen people raise issues over anything they changed in that image, it's bizarre to me.

You've forgotten the Varrock/Lumbridge/Falador riots protesting Alice's husband being nameless. Dark days my friend, I envy you not having bore witness.
