Docs are handing out suboxone scripts since it's schedule 3. Most opiate/opioids are schedule 2 (i.e. morphine/oxycodone/oxymorphone/hydrocodone/hydromorphone) and doctors are under way more scrutiny about those now, especially with her history of "having her pills stolen" and a suicide attempt. Once you're opioid tolerant, it's nigh-impossible (maybe even impossible, since it has a ceiling dose, but I'm not sure) to overdose on suboxone. A lot of pain management doctors are trying to transition most of their patients to suboxone just to reduce liability on their end. Considering her history and the fact she's on a benzodiazepine, they're definitely going to err on the side of caution.
Hell, you don't even need to talk to a doctor to get a sub script nowadays. There are a ton of fly-by-night telehealth groups that'll get you an appointment and have it at a pharmacy within hours.

It could be because she has substance abuse issues or it could just be because that's what her pain management specialist is prescribing. I've noticed a HUGE shift to prescribing Suboxone ever since the rules for its distribution were HEAVILY relaxed. It's a C-III while most opioids are C-II, and ever since they did away with limits on the number of patients you can prescribe Suboxone to, and did away with the X-Waiver, prescribing Suboxone carries a lot less risk to a provider than prescribing morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc. and less risk to a patient. Naturally, fans of pure, full agonists despise it, but it is a good medication if you're looking for strong pain relief.

Holy shit, those are the craziest nicotine stains I've ever seen. I used to smoke a pack a day for a decade and my hands were never noticeably stained. Blade must not ever wash his hands.
