The reason I didn't watch it in college is because at the time it was at like 300 episodes and counting.

Wikipedia says it's now at 919 episodes and STILL GOING.

How the hell do you do a 10 episode season out of this? The first season of the anime according to Wikipedia is 61 episodes.
The One Piece anime is hilariously bloated, the rule of thumb is that 3 chapters ~= 1 episode and the anime is almost 1:1 to the manga in the latter half

Of all anime out there, that could be adapted into live-action, anime such as Monster, Paranoia Agent, Berserk, Fist of The North Star, Legend of The Galactic Heroes, etc. all of them have a semi-realistic art style and are somewhat down to earth, those could be adapted into live-action, but they choose to adapt the most cartoonishly shonen out there, this is going to be a trainwreck, but that's probably what they're going for, something like "People are going to watch this to see how bad it is, right?"

It's like if some folks want to surpass Dragonball Evolution for the worst live-action movie adaptation of an anime. :cunningpepe:

Three sword style is stupid-cool in the manga and anime. Three sword style in a real life adaptation? It's gonna look like shit and they're still going to have to change it like Zoro's biting a piece of string connected to the handle. Shitty CGI for Luffy stretching and ballooning, Nami covered up and being writer mandated extra yass qweeen because we can only have strong wahman, not strong wahman who also deliberately uses sex appeal to get what she wants, and poor Chopper will be as greenscreened as Prequel Yoda. If they even get to him, that is.

Other than some of the girls being hot, I’ve never gotten the appeal of One Piece to be honest, if you're going to do pirates it should be badass, One Piece is a little too "cartoony" and removed from what pirates were to my tastes.

Paranoia Agent in particular is extremely prescient and relevant to modern times, it'd be perfect for a live action adaptation.

OP is about the worst manga/anime to choose for a live-action show. The only ones I could think of that would be worse would be because of the budgetary restraints to CG fantastical fairy looking robots.
On top of that, I dread as to how they're going to realize Usopp or the other overly exaggerated characters. Or for that matter, make Luffy's rubber abilities look convincing on Netflix's budget.

Dragon Ball is also a weird choice to adapt to live action, i guess they were fully convinced that movie would sell only on its name back then

Don't run away from your problemas because it will only make them grow bigger, and always take responsibility from your own actions, i think some people would learn a thing or two from watching that anime

It also seems to anticipate modern meme culture and the idea of "meme magic"

Basically the idea of memes literally taking on a life of their own and also the idea of something starting off as a falsehood but nevertheless having a very real impact on things.

And of course the idea of a society wide nervous breakdown, Paranoia Agent is incredibly ahead of it's time.

Not to mention there are some episodes talking about stuff like bullying, suicide or how shitty working in the anime industry truly is, i personally loved that anti-escapism message in the last episode, well shit, i guess i'll watch that anime again, it's been years since i watched it for the first time and i'd probably appreciate it even more since i'm older now

That is only because they don't want to do a bunch of filler, One Piece would benefit greatly from being a Seasonal Anime (like My Hero Aca) but..well it started before that became a real thing.

At least it isn't like Naruto..where you had..the long dark times...or well the FIRST long dark times..before the Canon plot became absolute fucking shit.

So the thought of Arlong Park being the potentially hottest mess in live-action never cross my mind until now.
Like. not even counting the CG fishmen. Just Nami.

Enough talk of this live-action nonsense, cleanse your palate with the source material.

Not a huge fan of how Oden is the chaddest of chads and capable of going toe to toe with Roger/Whitebeard out the gate due to being some kind of miracle baby, but whatever. I'm sure we'll have more flashbacks including him in the future.

Been wanting to see more of young Moria for a long time. He's so dreamy 😍

I mean, he really didn't go Toe to Toe with Roger or Whitebeard out the gate. Whitebeard wasn't trying that hard or using Haki during their first meet up and Gol D Roger sent Oden's ass flying like a ragdoll before Whitebeard stepped in. Hell, the same would have happened with Whitebeard using Haki
