I really want Gin to return, he would probably be a good fit for Bellamy's crew.. 2 strong fighters who were screwed over by their bosses.Gin and Shachi have their birthdays today! Here's Shachi's pixiv tag.
I loved the little intro they had about Luffy and his crew being at the forefront of the changing pirate era.Damn, the anime sure makes the Fifth Emperor and his crew look intimidating.
They're trying to create distance between the manga and the anime, but they don't have the luxury of doing fillers since that would fuck with the timeline (Early Wano is supposed to be happening at the same time as the Reverie), so this is what we're getting. Don't count against a Vivi flashback in the coming weeks too.But I don't know whats with all the filler flashbacks here. Why do we need a whole segment on Coby and Luffy's meet?
LMAO are you forreal?I'd rather not be spoiled about details I've forgotten about
Another aspect of it is that they do too much episodes and don't rerun any of them-- this being the reason why they had those clip show episodes back at the beginning of Enies Lobby. They need new viewers to be brought up to speed/older viewers to remember what the background for some of this is.They're trying to create distance between the manga and the anime, but they don't have the luxury of doing fillers since that would fuck with the timeline (Early Wano is supposed to be happening at the same time as the Reverie), so this is what we're getting. I don't know where you are, but if you're from the US, then Funimation's site should be a good start.I've thought about getting into One Piece in the past month or two but to be honest, the sheer number of episodes and manga chapters with no end in sight is kind of intimidating.
I mean, I was a huge Naruto fan back in the day but it dragged on for so long that I pretty much dropped out and avoided Shippuden entirely, and then skipped straight to Boruto (which I actually kind of enjoy unironically)
I will admit, I used to hate One Piece as a kid because of the atrocious 4Kids dub in the early 2000's, which was hands down the worst anime dub of that decade and is a contender for one of the worst anime dubs of all time. I mean, the 4Kids version of One Piece was so bad that it basically killed the trend of Westernizing anime completely (save for a few legacy titles like Digimon and Pokemon where a lot of the dub name changes are kept for nostalgia's sake)
However, the bits and pieces I saw of the Funimation dub was actually pretty neat, and when it came to the new Toonami in 2013, I was excited at first but then found out they were not starting from the beginning so I avoided it because I didn't want to get confused.
If I were to watch the One Piece anime from the start, where is it legally available for streaming? I'd prefer the Funimation dub, but I am open to the subbed version as well.
Agreed, it's been a while since we saw Luffy showing off. This break time sure has been particularly long. sigh
(I know @Kari Kamiya watches the dub, so I'm tagging her in too just in case I missed something).

If you ever decide to go sub instead of dub theres a group of fans that worked on the first 200+ or so episodes which is far better than the official sub imo.
Also IIrc Oda did mention that One Piece is 80% done (don’t quote me on that). My personal recommendation is to just go through the anime bit by bit and then switch over to reading the manga once you get to the fishman island arc. Good luck!!![]()
I think he's talking about One Pace.
- Which fansubbing group? Some of the older ones read like shit compared to now (the increase in actual competency vs decrease in weebism contributing to this)
- Don't quote Oda on that either.

That could have been any of the ones from the last decade (Kaizoku-Fansubs, the short lived Geru Sama, etc), they all were kind of doing that.
- I don't remember their name, all I can remember of the group is that they would add weird little effects to the subtitles whenever a character would shout out the name of their attack. I can get the name of it later once I have the chance though.
- Noted. God Bless Oda.
