I have this weird feeling that we’re going to be cockblocked out of whatever Vegapunk will say in his broadcast, and we just get the reactions. That or Oda is just waiting until Laugh Tale to reveal everything, including what Vegapunk will talk about. I swear to God, the entire lore (or at least everything regarding the Void Century) being treated like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction is going to be the death of me.

I swear to god we are gonna get something that makes Roger laughing make less sense and confuse us all.

Ive seen some interesting speculation as to what Mars saw. York said something about there not needing to be anymore "sins" and that they have a "complicated" relationship. There is the possibility that a 7th hidden satellite is on Egghead, namely inside of Punk Records as some kind of guardian. Either that or a specialized seraphim unit/being designed by Vegapunk as a last measure to guard the Den Den Mushi.

I honestly think it's going to be a sign saying the equivalent of "the transmission is coming from another castle." The chapter suggests that contingencies might be in place and Vegapunk sending the 5 Elders on a wild goose chase when they can't actually stop him from this island would be apt.

That would require Vegapunk being smarter than he’s so far been shown to be

More-or-less a nothing chapter, but also with continued weirdness in York being left behind on the control room rather than on the Sunny. It's like how they did nothing to detain Lucci and Kaku. Also hate any and all attempts to powerscale the Gorosei above Kaido and Kizaru.
I hope Edison's dead, his design has always been the worst. Wish Prometheus was still around as a hovering head.

Well, the Gorosei have been shown to be the puppet masters controlling all the evil in the world, so like Sauron, they HAVE to be seen as the biggest of kahunas and the stuff of nightmares since they’re now doing something instead of doing the “villain sits in their lair and relies on their minions to do everything” cliche. At least until Imu comes along in earnest.

Eh, all Roger said that it was a “funny story” about the One Piece and the fact that Joy Boy left it there. It’s just a matter of everything finally clicking. And I really hope we actually see the treasure at that point, considering all the other stuff that hinges on it.

I hope that there’s contingencies. Because all we’ve had at this point is the equivalent of someone on Twitch screwing around during the “The stream is starting soon” segment where you’re waiting for people to get in the chat. And at this point, doing MORE dicking around and cockteasing about the bigger lore and not even giving something where a plausible theory that can satisfy your curiosity just to go “JK Reader, you want to know more about this? Gotta keep reading to the end!” Will feel more like a middle finger than anything.

And while only getting character reactions would also suck at this point of the game, at least I can understand Oda understanding that even if the audience is in the dark about things, the characters don’t have to be as well.

Isn’t Vegapunk said to be the smartest guy in the world?

Bonnie scoring a bigger W than any Strawhat besides Zoro.
As great as the scene is in context, are things really at the point where something like kicking a Marine in the head is a “Big W” for any “good” pirate that isn’t a Yonko or Warlord or Straw Hat in the Monster Trio?

Except that's supposed to be Imu's job, along with the God's Knights. If the Gorosei are stronger than any of the Yonko or Admirals, then it severely devalues everything that happened at Marineford. Having the Gorosei sit on their asses this whole time despite being stronger than the real playmakers is so goddamn boring and cliche, especially when the point of One Piece's "Better than every other shonen in the entire world"' reputation is that it doesn't perpetually scale everything vertically like Bleach and DBZ. Well, that and how it lets its main supporting cast win fights instead of constantly lose and/or get sidelined because of the power gap between them and the MC.

After watching the latest episode when it came out, I have been wondering wether the gum gum fruiit actually being the sun god Nika fruit actually makes sense. If devil fruits are meeant to be the different possibilities of Human evolution, then why is there at least no similar devil fruit that actually does grant rubber powers? there has to be rubber type fruit somewhere.
i have always thought about it like this. the nika fruit seems to be based around freedom. in its normal state the user is free to do whatever they imagine they can do. luffy was told he ate the gum gum fruit and that he was made of rubber. so when he fights he does so thinking his body is made of rubber which is how he does all his attacks. in the fruits awakened state this effect of freedom begins to effect everything around the user.

i do not think devil fruits are so much related to evolution but rather they give their users freedom but with limits. luffy is the only one who has true freedom he is just unaware of it.

their is most likely an actual gum gum fruit out there but i imagine it was hidden somewhere to ensure nobody would realize the nika fruit was actually not the true gum gum fruit.

Except the thing is that Imu is supposed to be in the shadows unknown to everyone, and the Gorosei are supposed to only be politicians. Also, the God’s Knights are just to be some cross of Mary Geoise police and special forces that can hold Celestial Dragons to task. The whole thing of Mary Geoise and and the Gorosei is keeping up appearances, and the only reason the Gorosei are stepping up now of all times is because Luffy and Blackbeard have forced their hand because they refuse to play by the rules.

As for main supporting cast, you sure about the sidelines part? How much do the non monster trio get on average before things get to Luffy going all out against the main villain of the arc?

especially when the point of One Piece's "Better than every other shonen in the entire world"' reputation
There is no "better than every other shonen in the world", Oda is just doing what he thinks is cool/funny without breaking the rules. If he sets a trend, it's unintentional and all the follow-the-leader series tend to slip up for whatever reason on the author's/editor's/publisher's part.

especially when the point of One Piece's "Better than every other shonen in the entire world"' reputation
You must be looking at One Piece on YouTube and main subreddit too much. We love the Goda worshippers, but they're spergs.

There is Shonen and real Shonen. One Piece is the former, and nothing further.

What’s the difference though?

I cant believe it, finally happened
Franky did something! can't wait for next time in 5 years when he punches another guy in the final battle and we never see him again
It’s shit like this that makes me wonder why people love Oda so much, then I remember it’s the worldbuilding that some compare to JRR Tolkien.

Y'all have to give Wranky his flowers. At least he hasn't fallen off like Linbei.

One Piece has always perpetually scaled.

And that’s the point about the Celestial Dragons. They have the power if they want to. They just don’t. And actually being comfortable with that keeps leading to issues for them.

When they were in Skypeia, Luffy WAS a rubber human as it made him immune to lightning. So does the Nika Fruit just make the bearer immune to whatever they think it's supposed to be? If Luffy didn't have an IQ of 78 could he make himself immune to the sea salt that cripples Devil Fruit users? Bullets? Death? As it is, the Nika Fruit story just feels like a late stage ass pull to make the MC's fruit better than the mediocrity it is, because the rubber fruit is fucking trash tier.

It is not the question of the rulers of the world largely being too complacent and degenerate to have power. Because the Elders obviously have it. So much, that with their current scaling the world and the current plot suddenly stop making sense. Seriously, this very ark is predicated on presuming that WG's power is primarily political and can conceivably be threatened by exposing their ditty laundry. But if they have five unkillable monsters, which are heavily implied to be scaling above previous keystone characters of the world, they don't need an elaborate system of political control and deception. I mean, it is possible to explain away at the moment, say, by revealing that the Elders suffer a severe, long-term backlash from using their monster forms, but who knows if the story is going to bother.
