Garp has also refused to become an admiral despite being good enough to do so because he hates the Celestial Dragons and doesn't want to be near them. It's quite possible whatever he witnessed on God Valley is what has made him question his loyalty, but some kind of blind optimism to make a change must've kept him in the Marines while staying "stagnant" as a Vice Admiral. Or Dragon's dissenting to a Revolutionary has kept him in place if just to be able to keep an eye on his family.

I don't know if he knew about the Five Elders before God Valley or if he saw Saturn there, but he had to have seen something. We're still missing perspectives from the God Valley incident, and a Garp flashback is one of them.

Also was Sengoku involved or not? He retired as Admiral if just because the Marineford incident was definitely an embarrassment for him, politically, but he's good friends with Garp. Does he know something damning, too, that keeps him from fully retiring?

I think I can help..mitigate this a bit.

Okay, so Imu and the Celestial Dragons have -SOMETHING- that lets them keep their grip on the world, and it is not the thing Imu used to wipe out Lulusia because they were testing something Vegapunk was working on.

Whatever Imu has over the world, can be negated or overthrown by whatever is on Laugh Tale. Imu is so afraid of what is there they not only hid the existence of the Island, They nudged Morgan into changing Gol's name to hide the D. (they wanted this with Luffy to) and were willing to Risk (and paid a non zero price) a Fight with Whitebeard to keep the person most likely to be Gol's heir from being able to claim One Piece.

Whatever is there absolutely has to be Dangerous to Imu and the Dragons...and There were two people outside of the Roger Pirates that I am fairly convinced that Gol told.

Whitebeard and Garp.

Garp wasn't just training Luffy and Ace to be "Marines" once they were strong enough..Garp was gonna lead a military coup. Now that plan has gone to absolute shit, but I think Garp was gonna sit Koby down at some point and explain things to him before he died so that Koby could carry that Torch.
Nah, Garp was asked to be Imu’s Top Guy and how could he refuse to be their Top Guy? Issue is at God Valley that villainous bastard, Rocks, fucked him over by freeing all those slaves and mercy killing the flesh gardens.

He was trying to get back into the Good Graces of the Dragons by making some more Top Guys.

On the topic, what is even the point of a Celestial Dragon? They all seem like inbreed retards, a far cry from the Gorosei or Imu. What do they add to the equation that they are tools worth keeping? I need more than "nobles bad" because there is clearly a lot of "shadow government" behind One Piece and I can't connect any dots on what you want to foster and keep the CD caste.

The first 20 could've all been arrogant enough that they went to Marijoa for bragging rights but they could've just as easily done that in their home kingdoms. The WG would have more area to cover in the world (which is big and scattered enough already) and they could've possibly gotten a foothold in the New World, instead of pirates who got strong enough to potentially hand them their ass.

We didn't get confirmation that the Five Elders were Celestial Dragons until Wano (which technically makes them the first ones introduced, retroactively), nor were the Holy Knights ever implied to be a thing hinted at (especially when they already had the Navy and Cipher Pol at their beck and call).

There probably was some purpose to all of them congregating at the Red Line that was lost to history like the events they covered up. Maybe they were all waiting for an apocalyptic scenario that ended up not happening?

Maybe they are nothing more then a front to hide the "real" rulers. Also a convenient scapegoat that can be dropped at a whim without loosing power. You have seen that the real power lies with the 5 elders and "Imu" and none of the royal families was there in the throne room. That is probably why they tried to kill Zabo that much: he saw the truth. Though I would wager that Dragon and others also know the truth or at least portions of it. It will be interesting when we see what the "Void century" really was.

Aren't they suppose to be the decendants of the founders of the WG? In theory they should be running the WG but yeah they're just a bunch of inbred psychopaths after centuries of elitism and separation from the rest of the world.

Also this.

IMO? They are a Distraction, The World Government's first step in everything it does seems to be "Misinformation"

Who is a better patsy for what Imu does than a bunch of Imbred Retards who act like they are in charge?

We just found out about a weapon that causes the Sea to rise and makes a giant whole with a reverse waterfall like Enies Lobby.

I expect after the Enies Lobby whole got created someone came up with the idea "We should have the highest ground possible, just incase.

I just found out MoistCr1tikal has been watching One Piece (apparently for a couple years now), and had not too long ago finished Marineford.

It's always cool to hear people discovering it. It's reminiscent of the first time you realized you really like One Piece.

(Oh lol I just realized it's been six years since I first started One Piece. I had taken a break from it around this time in 2017 because Law's backstory was so heavy.)

Imu is a member of the 19 families. I assume all the elders are part of the 19, but it’s just gang loyalty. The others might be dysgenic retards, but I assume that there’s likely some reason that Lucci licks their assholes beyond just being brainwashed since childhood.

I happened to find out there was a Placole Wedding Collaboration Dresses One Piece crossover a couple years ago (think this is the same company that did a collab for Sailor Moon), and some of the dresses are pretty (though they don't really translate well to real-life fabric). I don't know if the stylized wedding cake was included with the bundle.

I don't know where the morons in this thread get the impression that the Celestial Dragons are inbred retards. St. Charlos is undoubtedly an idiot, but he's basically the only one portrayed as stupid. The rest appear to have some kind of cunning, but then you have absolute beasts like Doflamingo and Shanks who are not only powerful, but highly intelligent.

Someone pointed out the 5 Elders and Imu might be Devil Fruit users. I wonder if the water weakness could just be Imu being a Umibozu. The Red Line being like the highest place in the world is basically Imu doing some bullshit with their powers or something.

I'm still inclined to believe they're actual supernatural beings or other magic users. Remember that Miss Goldenweek used Colors Trap that had its own magic seal.
