In all fairness, Nami didn't start getting massive boobs until about Water 7 (they were there in Skypeia, but attention hadn't yet been brought to them). It's practically confirmed that Sanji's very attentive in making sure his women--I mean the crew are getting the right nutrients needed to be healthy and have perfect bodies.

If they manage to make another season for Alabasta, Nami's actress will need to start padding her bras to reflect that.

Someone posted a summary of the first episode on Arlong Park
I just got back from the premiere in Santa Monica. Quick summary from me:
-Episode opens with narration by Ian McShane
-Shows Roger’s execution, we can see young Mihawk, Shanks, and kid Smoker.
-Garp is besides Roger.
-Garp: "Any last words?"
-Roger: "Can you take these (the shackles) off? I'm starting to itch."
-Garp: "You brought this upon yourself."
-Plays out like how we know the scene, Roger proclaiming that his treasure is out there and the crowd going wild.
-His execution is as shown in the anime version, stabbed by spears, no beheading.
-Switches to present day where Luffy is talking to a news coo while trying his hardest to take water out of his ship due to a leak
-As the leak gets worse, Luffy gets in a barrel which ends up on Alvida’s ship
-Alvida captures some prisoners from an enemy ship, interrogates them because she heard they had Zoro aboard their ship
-Prisoner says “Zoro went to Sixis Island”
-Alvida asks the prisoner if she’s on top of Zoro’s bounty list.
-Prisoner answers “Naturally, your bounty isn’t even on the list”
-Alvida kills the prisoner by smashing his skull with her mace and tells Koby to clean up the mess
-Koby is cleaning Alvida’s mace later that night, hears a barrel shaking and out comes Luffy
-Luffy introduces himself as a pirate, Koby tells him that this is Alvida’s ship and how cruel she is.
-Koby says pirates are scum to which Luffy responds with “Not the ones I know.”
-Cut to flashback where Luffy cut his face in front of Shanks’ crew to prove that he’s strong. You can see Yasopp, Roux, and Beckmann (but with white hair instead of black). Instrumental version of Binks' Sake plays in the background when Shanks is stitching up Luffy's wound.
-Cut to present. Luffy and Koby go up to the deck to help Luffy get away.
-Luffy picks up an oar and swings it around into accidentally hitting a pillar so the whole crew gets woken up.
-Alvida thinks Koby brought a bounty hunter and betrayed her.
-“Who’s the most beautiful pirate on the sea, Koby? Answer that.”
-Luffy: “He doesn’t need to. He’s his own man. Koby said you’re mean.”
-Alvida starts attacking Luffy and Koby. Luffy keeps dodging effortlessly
-The scene from the manga where Alvida hits Luffy on his Straw Hat happens, but instead of smiling, Luffy gets angry.
-Gum Gum Pistol. Alvida gets knocked out to the sea.
-Luffy and Koby leave the ship.
-Koby asks how Luffy's body becomes stretchy, cut to a flashback.
-Plays out the same as the manga. Higuma, Luffy being angry at Shanks, Shanks grabs Luffy’s arm and he stretches, you know all that.
-Luffy asks what Koby’s dream is, but Koby hesitates because he thinks his dream is dumb.
-Luffy slaps Koby. “You’re being dumb. Spill it out.”
-Koby tells Luffy that he dreams of becoming a Marine. Luffy encourages him to pursue it.
-Luffy says he wants to get a map to the Grand Line.
-Conversation goes on as Shells Town gets brought up and Luffy wants to go there to ask for a map. “I go there to get a map, and you can join the Marines. It’s a win-win.”
-Koby says it’s impossible. They won’t let him.
-Luffy says he will steal it and it would be fine since he’s stealthy.
-Koby: "You're...stealthy?" As Alvida’s ship burns behind Luffy in the background.
-I forgot at which point they cut to this, but Zoro’s intro in Sixis Island where Mr. 7 comes to recruit him to Baroque Works, Zoro refuses, a battle ensues and Zoro cut him in half, killing him.
-Cut to Nami. The same intro in the manga.
-Luffy and Koby arrive in Shells Town, they see a lot of Wanted posters.
-They decide to go to a bar to eat.
-Zoro enters the bar, carrying upper half of Mr. 7 in a bag.
-As he sits down, Cabaji is right besides him briefly before he leaves.
-Nami is also in the bar, a Marine asks her if she wants him to get a drink for her and she says “too tall” and goes for a shorter older Marine to seduce.
-Rika seems to like Zoro so she made rice balls for him
-Zoro: “What’s the brown part?”
-Rika: “Chocolate.”
-Rika bumps into Helmeppo and he gets angry.
-Rika’s mom tells her to apologize which she does, but Helmeppo mocks her.
-Zoro: “You dropped my food.” He picks up the rice ball from the ground and eat it. Tells Rika that it's delicious.
-Helmeppo: "Do you know who I am?"
-Zoro: "A shithead Marine with a terrible haircut."
-Helmeppo draws his sword.
-Zoro intimidates Helmeppo and he gets scared.
-The Marines start attacking Zoro and he beats all of them without fully unsheathing any of his sword, impressing Luffy.
-Nami knocks out the Marine that she was seducing and takes his uniform.
-Zoro intimidates Helmeppo to which he says “Please don't kill me! My father can give you anything!”
-Zoro goes to meet with Captain Morgan and Morgan says Zoro will get the bounty for Mr. 7, but sending his Marine officers to the infirmary is another story and he will have to pay by being tied up for 7 days with no food nor water.
-Luffy and Koby are on their boat resting up at night while talking about what happened at the bar. Luffy is really impressed by what a great fighter Zoro is, wondering how he would wield his third sword, while Koby is in disbelief that a civilian like Zoro has to protect a little girl from the Marines who were supposed to be the ones doing the protecting.
-Luffy says since there are good and bad pirates, there must be good and bad Marines. "I'm sure you're gonna be one of the good ones, Koby."
-Luffy still wants to go steal the map but Koby doesn't want to help him steal from the Marines, so Luffy just asks Koby to row the boat when it's time for Luffy to set sail.
-Nami wears the uniform that she stole and blends with the other Marines heading towards the base.
-Helmeppo visits Zoro in the field where he's being tied up and taunts him. Zoro gets pissed because Helmeppo is carrying Wado Ichimonji.
-"PUT IT DOWN!"
-"Oohhh, what's so special about this one?"
-Don't really remember the exact words but Zoro said something like "Enjoy these 7 days, once I'm free, you'll be the first guy I cut down".
-Helmeppo tells Zoro he will never get freed and will die here.
-Luffy sneaks into the Marine base through the sewers and comes out on the field where Zoro is at.
-Luffy asks Zoro to join, which he refuses.
-"I'm a pirate hunter. I kill people like you for a living."
-Paraphrasing but Luffy said something like "I'm sure you're more than that. Isn't there anything you want to do?"
-"I made a promise to my friend to become the world's greatest swordsman."
-Luffy unties Zoro, to which he replies with "I'm not going to join your crew even if you untie me".
-"I just think it's a waste that you're stuck here when there's something that you want out there. Good luck with the sword thing."
-Luffy goes back to the sewers and asks Zoro to close out the man-hole for him. He stick out his head out a few seconds later just to say "Thanks" to Zoro.
-Meanwhile, Nami is in the map storage room looking for a map to the Grand Line when a Marine notices her.
-"You're not supposed to be here."
-"Oh, Captain Morgan told me to get him the map to the Grand Line".
-The Marine asks another Marine if the Grand Line map is stored there. The other Marine just happens to be the one that Nami stole her uniform from. Her cover is blown.
-Short fight ensues which ends with Nami knocking him out with her staff .
-As Nami is about to leave the room, Luffy drops down from the ceiling.
-Nami says she's going to arrest Luffy but Luffy says she's not a Marine because Luffy heard everything that happened just now.
-Luffy goes on his own to find the map and Nami tries to stop him.
-Luffy just casually enters a room without sneaking around and as Marines were coming their way, Nami and Luffy go into hiding behind a door.
-"Is that your plan? Just open a door and enter?"
-As they keep walking and talking about how the map must've been in Captain Morgan's room, they bump into the man himself.
-Nami explains that she's taking Luffy as prisoner.
-Morgan: "I've never seen you."
-Nami: "I got transferred from Base #77. I personally requested to be transferred here to work under you, sir." Morgan bought her lie.
-Turns out, during their conversation, Nami managed to snatch keys from Morgan.
-"How did you do that?"
-"I'm a thief".
-Luffy tries to recruit Nami but she refuses and states that she hates pirates.
-Helmeppo was posing in his room with Wado Ichimonji in front of a mirror while bare naked (his bare butt is shown).
-Zoro barges into the room, sending Helmeppo into panic and quickly covering his private parts with a plushy before Zoro takes Wado Ichimonji from him.
-Helmeppo gets scared and says "Please don't kill me."
-Zoro "I got something worse".
-Luffy and Nami enter Morgan's room and they search for the Grand Line map.
-There are spare axe hands in Morgan's room and when Luffy touches one of them, it activates a mechanism that reveals a hidden door on the floor to a safe that contains the Grand Line map.
-Morgan arrives to the map storage room and the Marine that Nami defeated earlier tells him everything that happened.
-As Nami is trying to crack the safe, the alarm sounds off and Morgan starts banging on the door and chopping it down.
-Nami has no luck cracking it, so Luffy musters all of his strength to pull the safe out of the floor. Once it comes off, both Luffy and Nami get knocked away out of the window and they land on the field where Zoro was being tied up earlier.
-The Marines all come out to fight Luffy and Nami.
-Zoro arrives to the scene with all his three swords back on his waist and sees Luffy and Nami fighting but he doesn't give a shit and just continues walking to the exit.
-As he is just steps away from the exit, he has a change of heart and decides to join the battle.
-Morgan arrives to the scene and compliments the three as great fighters.
-"Yeah, they're my crew".
-Zoro: "We're not a crew".
-Nami: "We're not together".
-Morgan boasts about himself. "I'm the one who defeated the Black Cat Pirates. I captured Captain Kuro of The Thousand Plans."
-Luffy and Zoro tag team Morgan while Nami fights the goons to protect the safe.
-Morgan catches Luffy's Gum Gum Pistol with his hand and throws Luffy crashing into Zoro. Battle continues.
-Luffy: "I go high. You go low."
-Zoro puts on his bandana and puts Wado Ichimonji in his mouth.
-Luffy: "So that's where it goes."
-Zoro deflects Morgan's axe and keeps fighting him.
-Luffy jumps off of Zoro's back and tackles Morgan.
-Battle continues until Zoro manages to get the upper hand by having Wado Ichimonji on Morgan's neck, immobilizing him.
-Luffy: "Gum Gum Whip!"
-Zoro ducks and Luffy's kick hits Morgan's face clean, defeating him.
-Zoro: "Gum Gum Whip?"
-The last scene from the teaser trailer plays, the one about attack names.
-Nami: "How are we gonna carry this safe? We need a rope or something."
-Zoro just picks it up and carries it.
-As they reach the boat, a scene from the teaser plays out. The "tension amongst the crew" one.
-Luffy: "My friend isn't here yet."
-Zoro: "There's no time. We need to go."
-Helmeppo appears with his iconic haircut from the manga wielding two guns and threatening the crew.
-Luffy, amused: "What's with this guy's hair?"
-Zoro: "Yeah, I did that."
-Helmeppo angrily fired shots and says he will arrest all of them and he will be hailed as a hero.
-Out of nowhere, Koby punches Helmeppo, knocking him out.
-Koby: "Th-That....k-kinda felt good."
-As Luffy asks Koby to get on the boat, he says he's not coming with Luffy.
-"Before I met you, every decision was made for me. Now I want to follow my dreams. The next time we meet, we might be enemies."
-"Luffy: "But for now, we're friends."
-Luffy taps Koby's shoulder, Koby pushes the boat and the crew set sail with Luffy and Koby waving at each other.
-Cut to a Denden Mushi ringing.
-Garp picks up the phone and he receives the report that the map to Grand Line in base 153 in Shells Town got stolen by a pirate.
-Bogard: "Is it a lead to Baroque Works?"
-Garp: "No, this is different. A map to Grand Line got stolen by a pirate.....in a Straw Hat."
-Cut to Cabaji reporting to Buggy about the map in Shells Town getting stolen.
-Buggy says "That's my map, and I don't care how many people I need to kill to get it." Laughs maniacally.
End of episode 1.
I'm not a good writer. If you read my summary and jump to the conclusion of "Wow, I don't like the look/sound of this.", please just don't and just wait until the show releases. This is just a quick summary that doesn't do the episode justice. There are lines that I left out just because my lazy ass doesn't feel like writing too much. Those lines that I left out are short, small ones, but they help a lot with characterization and really shows that the characters are portrayed faithfully to their manga counterpart. Really, aside from Garp who I think is being portrayed as too serious business with not a single hint of his fun laid-back side (maybe in the later episodes?), and Makino who might as well be a random nameless background character in the flashback (maybe in the next episode she gets more lines and screentime since the two Luffy flashbacks in this episode are only the ones where he cuts his face and eats the Gum Gum fruit respectively. Safe to say that Shanks losing his arm and giving the Straw Hat to Luffy will be the next flashback shown what with the title of episode 2 being “The Man in the Straw Hat”), every other character is being portrayed faithfully. I couldn't stop smiling while watching this episode. They did it right. Maybe it's my nostalgia speaking that clouds my judgment as I'm someone who has been reading this series since 2002, but fuck me, if an adaptation manages to take me back to my childhood instead of pissing me off, then from my point of view, it's a good one. A damn good one.
After that, they showed multiple clips from future episodes. Kuro walking scarily in a hall of Kaya's mansion, Zoro winding up Sanzensekai as he's reflected in Mihawk's eyes, Sanji cooking, Luffy punching Buggy, Buggy tying up Luffy and demanding him to give up the map, Usopp running in the woods, and Zoro and Sanji clashing against Kuro-Obi separately etc.
P.S That yellow "Mexico: Hollywood Edition" filter used in the trailer is NOT present in the episode at all.

@Kazuma

-Garp is besides Roger.
-Garp: "Any last words?"
-Roger: "Can you take these (the shackles) off? I'm starting to itch."
Not going to lie. That seems in character
-Alvida asks the prisoner if she’s on top of Zoro’s bounty list.
-Prisoner answers “Naturally, your bounty isn’t even on the list”
-Alvida kills the prisoner by smashing his skull with her mace and tells Koby to clean up the mess
It's nowhere near as good as the appearance obsessed version.
Um. WTF? One Piece with the random self harming and specifically cutting his face. The hell?
-“Who’s the most beautiful pirate on the sea, Koby? Answer that.”
-Luffy: “He doesn’t need to. He’s his own man. Koby said you’re mean.”
Because we cannot say ugly. So instead we must talk like children. Drown in a gallon of salty shit.
-Luffy says he will steal it and it would be fine since he’s stealthy.
-Koby: "You're...stealthy?" As Alvida’s ship burns behind Luffy in the background.
Another in character moment. I'm giving +! for that bringing us briefly above the depths of Hell.
-I forgot at which point they cut to this, but Zoro’s intro in Sixis Island where Mr. 7 comes to recruit him to Baroque Works, Zoro refuses, a battle ensues and Zoro cut him in half, killing him.
-Zoro enters the bar, carrying upper half of Mr. 7 in a bag.
It makes sense. This is how bounty hunters work
-Nami is also in the bar, a Marine asks her if she wants him to get a drink for her and she says “too tall” and goes for a shorter older Marine to seduce.
I want to say that seems in character. But it's Netflix, their creepy pedo shit is know. Back into Hell and I'm calling a night.

RE : the Live action spoilers.

I instantly hate this series if the context if the dialogue with Luffy and Coby confronting Alvida is correct.

One of Luffy's key character traits is that he won't help someone who isn't willing to fight to save themselves, him standing up for Coby without Coby doing it first is an Absolute Travesty that will ruin the meaning of certain things later on like him not giving a shit about Nami's history, him plopping his ass down in the middle of the Desert when Vivi is being silly and not just going to beat the shit out of Crocodile.

Shit Luffy's entire relationship with Momonosuke is Luffy pushing Momo to stand up for himself instead of relying on Kinemon to lead. And it gave us one of the coolest mentor moments in a long time.

"You just bit the Strongest Man in the world, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO FEAR NOW"

A Netflix Live Action anime adaptation misses the point of the original work and fucks it up...

Anyone who didn't see that coming a mile away is an idiot.

Luffy stabs himself in the face in front of Shanks and his crew to prove he's strong enough to travel with them, so that's accurate.
cut from the anime until a certain special several years ago:

and then another special years later with more panel-accurate timing:

and then again another year or two later after uta became a thing:

Luffy stabs himself in the face in front of Shanks and his crew to prove he's strong enough to travel with them, so that's accurate.
Damnit, shame on me.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=ea6NieliCIUMan, It's stuff like this where I just can't bring myself to really hate on Netflix One Piece.
It may very well be a hot mess, but at the least, It'll be a hot mess with a DON!
The giant Axe-Hand poster behind Zoro did get a smile out of me.
That video did push me towards sympathy for Oda and Luffy's actor. The incoming flop I don't think can fairly blamed on them.

I am gonna say they are doing the exact same shit that 4Kids did.

They want to skip shit to get to "THE THINGS WE LIKE MOST"
In 4KIDS' defense, they didn't have knowledge of stuff being actually important to the plot but for later down the line. Netflix has no excuse other than they want to go with the "greatest hits" angle because the average Netflix consumer has little-to-no patience to appreciate the little things.

It's current year +8, of course they will force a relationship, and on top of that make it interracial.

This might be blasphemy but I always hate it when people say Oda-sensei and they aren't actually his production team, you can recognize his immense talents without doing the most weeb fucking thing and adding honorifics.

I've been rewatching the series lately (A friend started watching it..so I had the excuse to follow along) and there is so much in the early bits that even if by accident turns out to foreshadow things later.

It was completely by Accident but Usopp calls Luffy a God in one of the early arcs and I almost bust out laughing.
