OK, last chapter was a banger, but I have some questions about...

Sword, the more details I get, the less sense it makes. So if I get this right, you have a series of marines, these marines are identified as potential rogue elements due to their sense of justice or whatever, instead of removing them, you keep them around, make them sign a special contract where they agree that if they get uppity they will get deleted, yet allow them for the most part to operate freely AND to know what other people are part of those black sheep? And fucking Akainu is also sword even though he is your fucking head admiral?! Isn't this just an insurrection from the marines waiting to happen?
Well, there's three kinds of Marines.

1. Marines who are too important or strong for everyday field work (like the Admirals)
2. Assholes who don't care about justice and just wanna dick around and they're strong enough that their men won't cause a coup. With these guys the only reason for why the WG hasn't thrown them into the sea is because their group is too small to notice (Axe Hand Morgan comes to mind)
3. Guys who are super strong, important without being too busy for grunt work or secret missions, but their sense of justice is strong or different enough that they won't abide by evil or stupid actions like "Hey, you all need to go annex Wano now!" These are the guys who fit right in with SWORD, and their strength/importance is prominent enough that the higher ups would want to keep such valuable assets around.

And frankly get them out of the way and able to easily get rid of them by putting out a burn notice them. The WG is an almost objectively evil organization and these righteous characters tend to get in the way of more "official" business'.

Throwing them into the areas where the WG holds little authority to fight (and very likely die) against their enemies kills two birds with one stone.

Half their military would quit if they offed or ejected someone like Koby out of the blue

It makes a really weird scenario where technically Koby got told "Do what you want, but if you get in trouble you are on your fucking own kid." except that Garp exists and was like "I'MA DO WHAT I WANT SUCK IT BOYS"

Also if Garp does die here, what are the odds that Blackbeard sets up a recreation of Gol's Death including broadcasting it to the world, and Garp says something really inconvenient for everyone.

Being in SWORD basically means he was ejected officially speaking. Mind you, if he came back they would re-instate him almost instantly. But that is exactly why SWORD exists, to put those who have a lot of influence and have a strong sense of justice in places where they can't make use of that influence and possibly die.

And if Koby ends up learning something he shouldn't or trying to come back and change things...well the WG has fabricated evidence to get rid of people far more important.

The wording seems to be that Sword members "as far as the public knows" turned in their resignations willingly. It's pretty weird that they get to just walk around in Marine Clothing but clue-ing us into the fact that Sword members get to do whatever the fuck they want would give away Kuzan presumably being sword since he were told that he resigned from the Marines after Suzaki won their duel.

ever since kuzan joined blackbeard ive been expecting some sort of betrayal on his part he most likely just wants to keep an eye on blackbeard in the event that he gets all the poneglyphs

I don't think you understand something

whitebeard wasn't the only victim of ace & akainu's bullshit that day
https://youtube.com/watch?v=dzLMD-iYkaY:75
once the stache was gone the world was headed straight for hell, nevermind the phantom of the opera treatment the manga gave him
On the day when Akainu's face as Whitebeard appears behind him with several generations worth of beatings to dole out does not evoke hysterical laughter in me they can give me the Canadian healthcare treatment because I will be dead inside.

It does not help that the anime ensured his head was at crotch height.

I've heard you guys arguments, but Sword still makes no sense to me as a known and semipublic thing. If it was a secret list keeping tabs of the undesireables that just happen to be sent in suicidal missions when their worth is expended, that makes sense. And it also opens up somebody getting access to that master list and getting them all in contact and aware of each other like a secret association.

But as is explained? With all members of sword aware they are members of sword? With a lot of them having a huge sense of justice? And no restriction of movement, association or equipment till officially cut lose? That's just setting up your own military coup.

I would agree with this..if not for the fact that the World Government has shit so locked down that they can steal newborns out of peoples arm's and murder them with seemingly zero repercussions whatsoever, Sure Sword puts all the people who are willing to try and overthrow you in one place to unite.

It also puts them all in one place to wipe the fuck out order 66 style.

Unless they get too strong for it or they suddenly get someone like say, Garp (or maybe Sengoku but that one's a big IF) watching their backs.
Plus there's a shitload of Marines in the various branches that aren't Navy HQ and probably don't totally align with them.

...That reminds me. Did Kizaru know Drake was with SWORD?

I mean Garp also saved Celestial Dragons from Xebec so he is SUPER DUPER SPECIAL UNTOUCHABLE tier of hero.

I'm just used to my authoritarians having incompetent toadies under them to ensure their grasp of power, that the World goverment values more competence is between admirable and reckless.

Well the World Government also has a massive Advantage in that until Gol did his thing, they had a very hard Iron Grip on information in the world and still controls the majority of the information that comes out.

Garp 100% would have gotten CP0'd in a dark alley if he weren't Garp (Especially if Gol told him what was at Laugh Tale, which I think is likely.)

...That reminds me. Did Kizaru know Drake was with SWORD?
It's hard to tell with Kizaru. He did address him as "Rear Admiral Drake" then corrected himself to "Former Rear Admiral", like he just remembered he's supposed to treat him like a pirate...and since Drake's a Zoan, his accelerated healing would let him survive being shot and kicked by Kizaru 'to make it look good'.

My goodness, you mean the over top cartoony look of One Piece translates poorly to live action? Who would have thought it.

I have my sympathy for those involved with this, Nextflix and live action anime was already a kiss of death but One Piece was way too high a bar to clear.

And the Story is hard to follow if you rush through the first 3 Arcs in 15 Minutes?
